Garan, a proud Sunagakure Jonin and honored to be one of the commanders during the Konoha invasion, looked to the right wing of his forces with furrowed eyebrows and a frown on his purple painted lips.

Some blonde-haired Konoha cunt smashed straight into the middle of the right wing’s forces out of nowhere and started reaping his men like a sandstorm.

Needless to say, Garan didn’t like it.

As he witnessed the cunt be pelted with various techniques from his brave men and women, a grim sense of satisfaction rose in his chest, only to utterly sink to the pits of the sandy hell when the enemy turned out to be unharmed once the dust settled.

And when the hair needles started flying… Garan let out a weary sigh. He turned toward his right-hand man for this operation, who suddenly spoke with some concern in his tone.

“Our right wing seems to be struggling, Commander.”

“… Inept idiots. Can’t even deal with one kunoichi.” Garan muttered under his nose in displeasure. “We have a more important job to do than killing one Konoha bitch.” He said, glancing at his remaining men. It was good. They were almost all inside Konoha now. Only a few remaining stragglers still needed to cross the wall.

Unlike his right wing, the center and the left wing of his forces had no problems. “Leave two hundred men to deal with the kunoichi. The rest of us are going to march deeper into Konoha.” Garan commanded and turned around, intent on starting to advance with a grudge-filled, narrowed look and the majority of his forces at his back.

The Kazekage trusted him to cause as much destruction across Konoha as possible as fast as possible, and Garan the Sand Rat was not one to fail.

He was going to show the brutality of the desert to these leaf-munching imbeciles with wooden sticks up their well-fed asses.

Eager anticipation filled him as he gazed deeper into Konoha, but then the hair on the back of his neck suddenly bristled in warning as alarm bells rang in his head.

A spike of fear surged within him, and his eyes went bloodshot as he whirled around. Garan’s eyes widened in mute horror as he witnessed black tentacles with mouths and sharp teeth all across them bursting from the ground, wrapping around his now screaming men. The teeth shredded their flesh. The mouths feasted on their bodies. The weight behind the tentacles snapped their bones or crushed their men.

Garan’s heartbeat quickened, and he gasped for breath… and that was exactly what alerted him that something was wrong. He was an experienced ninja, and no matter the horror, he should not have had these kinds of reactions.

“Kai!” Garan flexed his chakra, and indeed, the illusion in front of him melted. There were no dying men. No black tentacles. No horror.

Garan snorted in derision. “Hah. Green, wet-behind-the-ears Konoha tree-hugging wannabe. You are a thousand years too early to fool Garan the Eagle-eyed!”

He was about to warn his people about genjutsu when…

“Oh, really? I think the illusion has fulfilled its purpose, wouldn’t you say?” A cheeky voice interrupted him, causing his pupils to constrict as his head whipped to the side, only to see the Konoha kunoichi stand in the place of his second in command, who now lay on the ground, silently bleeding out from his slit throat.

A spark of doubt and suspicion passed through Garan’s mind before it was washed by his sheer rage. He didn’t answer. Instead, the girl was barely done finishing her sentence when she only clumsily managed to block Garan’s kunai that threatened her neck.

He was going to show her! Taunting him? Him!? Garan the Fierce was nobody’s fool!

Wind chakra flared to life around Garan’s kunai, but the girl showed some basic competence by forfeiting the clash and retreating.

“So, you are the commander of these people, heh?” Garan heard her calmly ask, but her expression seemed alarmed to him. Concluding that the bitch was pretending to be calm, Garan whipped out another kunai with his free hand.

His form then suddenly collapsed into sand, and Garan grinned as his kunai sank into the Konoha kunoichi’s neck from behind. With wind chakra, he sliced his knives to the side…

The kunoichi’s head separated from her body and flew into the air.

Garan almost thought it was a pity. She was quite pretty and young. If only she were born in Suna. Garan, the Best Lover in Sunagakure, wouldn’t have minded spending his nights with a precious thing like her.

Garan froze as he got the oddest feeling that something was wrong. He didn’t know what. But after so many years of being a ninja, his reaction was pretty much instinctive as he flared his chakra again, breaking out of another genjutsu.

The world in front of his eyes shifted. Not by much. Just slightly. Screams of battle, suffering, and dying entered Garan’s ears as much as the clashing of steel.

He stood rooted in his spot as he finally noticed that a noticeable part of his forces suddenly started fighting against each other. Then, his eyes landed on the corpse in front of him. The feminine curves shifted, turning into a man’s figure.

The severed head on the ground morphed, and the shocked look of his second in command stared at him with dead, glassy eyes full of surprise and blame.

Garan staggered in his spot as he realized he had killed the man. His eyes searched for the previous corpse of his fallen subordinate, only to notice it had disappeared from existence altogether.

But he didn’t have the time to freeze now. Fueling his determination and anger with the regret and guilt that filled him, Garan’s head whipped toward his men, and he realized they were going through something similar as they fought with each other in a madness-filled frenzy.

‘What a sinister genjutsu.’ Garan thought as a shiver passed through him.

The whole thing happened so fast that he didn’t even have the time to realize the first genjutsu was only the first layer. Just for a good measure, Garan flared his chakra again with a quiet, “Kai.” and when nothing shifted in his perception, a small sense of relief passed through him.

“Stop fighting, you fools! It’s a genjutsu!” He screamed on the top of his lungs, but his ninja didn’t seem to hear him. Gritting his teeth, he ran and reached for a nearby Suna kunoichi, only to jump back when the woman suddenly spun around and swung her kunai at him.

The fierce, bloodshot brown eyes of his kunoichi stared at him in confusion as the woman slowly started realizing that something was wrong. Garan felt the flare of her chakra and slightly relaxed, realizing she was not going to attack him.

Warm blood suddenly spurted across Garan’s face, and in front of his eyes, the half-confused kunoichi stared at him with wide, pained eyes full of disbelief as a blade pierced her throat from behind and was instantly withdrawn, letting her blood gush out of her.

The woman fell to the ground, revealing that it was yet another crazed Suna ninja who had killed her. He wasn’t even paying her body or Garan any attention anymore as he turned around and started a fight with a nearby Suna ninja who seemed to be panicked too much about the situation to be trapped in genjutsu.

Garan snarled, but his training forced him to take a step back instead of acting rashly. He looked around and took a proper stock of the situation, noticing that only the centermost part of his forces alongside the right wing were affected by the genjutsu. Around twenty percent? A quarter of his forces at most, maybe?

The ninja further away from the Konoha bitch were left unaffected and stood around like idiots, not knowing what to do. Deep inside, Garan understood. He, too, had no idea how to deal with his comrades suddenly going into a frenzy and starting to attack their own side.

But emotions were not rational, and because of that, he was also absolutely furious at these incompetent fucks!

Honestly… the situation was not as bad as it seemed at first glance from his position. Many of the ‘corpses’ on the ground were just injured ninjas. The stronger ones from his forces broke free from the genjutsu relatively quickly, so it was mostly the bulk of chunin-level combatants who were still rabid.

Fortunately, chunins were not that fast, experienced, or good at killing. While people were dying, most of the fights among chunin ended up in severe injuries rather than death.

Garan took a steadying breath. ‘Screw the Ichibi for the small mercies.’ He mentally grumbled.

Unfortunately, the fact that the situation was not as bad as he initially feared didn’t mean it was good. No. It was still bad. And he had to do something about it! Preferably before more Konoha ninjas arrived and took advantage of the mayhem among his forces.

Garan’s eyes wandered until he found the Konoha kunoichi who was most likely responsible for the genjutsu. She was still cocooned in her hairy blond shell, seemingly ignored in the chaos.

But no more. Garan the Avenger was going to smack the bitch!

Just as he was about to body-flicker toward her, she suddenly disappeared from his vision. His instincts flared. Garan hastily stepped back, barely evading a kunai swung at the side of his head.

Seeing the smug face of the Konoha kunoichi, he was instantly seething with cold anger mixed with grave glee. She had overextended. Cocking his kunai-wielding hand, he aimed the tip of his blade toward her throat and funneled his chakra into it.

Wind chakra instantly shaped itself into a blade around the kunai before extending forward, aiming to pierce through the kunoichi’s neck.

Her eyes widened in fear as she tried to get away, but her body was obviously not fast enough.

Garan got a bad feeling. At the very last second, he tilted his hand, letting the wind chakra only graze the side of the woman’s neck before it dissipated.

He didn’t hit the artery, so it wasn’t a life-threatening injury.

Not letting the kunoichi regain her balance, Garan quickly grabbed her by the clothes and threw her over his shoulder to the ground. Her back hit the ground, pushing all the air from her lungs as she breathlessly gasped, finished for the moment.

Garan’s eyes narrowed as he broke the flow of his chakra. And indeed, his bad feeling was confirmed as the body of the Konoha kunoichi shifted, revealing another frenzied Suna kunoichi.

He had noticed that his opponent was far slower than even his now-dead right-hand man. Clearly, this was a visual and auditory genjutsu, but it wouldn’t make a chunin into a Jonin.

Still, as far as weaknesses went, it was a pretty shit one. Garan clicked his tongue. It was good that he noticed. He had almost killed another Suna ninja.

He was about to turn back toward his target when black tentacles with mouths full of razor-sharp teeth burst from the ground again, and with irritation, Garan flared his chakra, disipating the genjutsu before it could fully manifest.

‘Seriously, at least she could pull something new.’ Garan mentally grumbled as he glanced back toward where the Konoha kunoichi was supposed to be cocooned, only for his eyebrows to furrow when he didn’t find her there.

From the corner of his eyes, he soon noticed yet another blonde-haired cunt wearing a Konoha headband rushing at him, and his eye twitched. Because they were again only as fast as chunin, and there was no way this was the bitch.

Tired of this shit, he sidestepped the lunge and grabbed the rushing genjutsu’ed fool by the shoulders before slamming him or her onto the ground with enough force to make them unconscious.

This time, Garan didn’t bother with flushing his chakra. Instead, he did something way more dangerous. He stopped the flow of his chakra altogether.

This made him very vulnerable for two seconds, but luckily, nobody attacked him in that timeframe.

That broke all layers of genjutsu placed upon him, and with satisfaction, he now saw the blonde cocoon of hair where it was supposed to be. A grin appeared on his face.

Hostility suddenly washed over him, and he noticed that twenty frenzied Suna ninja with bloodshot eyes all around him suddenly paused and turned toward him before encircling him.

Garan’s grin vanished as he grimaced. “You gotta be shitting me.”
