Sitting in a living room, Ren heard the front door open. Perking up, he turned his head toward the sound, and chuckled as he heard Temari yelp in pain before hissing a curse under her breath. She no doubt tripped over Kankuro’s puppet parts, which the boy had forgotten to clean up earlier today.

That was an ever-present danger of living in the Sabaku household. Kankuro was like a kid who always misplaces LEGO on the floor, so you have to pay attention to where you are stepping all the time. Except that his puppet parts could be way more dangerous than LEGO.

Temari wearily shuffled into the living room under Ren’s amused gaze, and as she saw him, her displeased frown melted down into a small, fond smile. Only for a moment, before it was replaced by something between scowl and pout.

“I hate you so much.” Temari groaned like a zombie as she stumbled her way through the room and dropped her body into Ren’s arms with an audible ‘ouff’, half-lying on the couch. Ren’s arms suddenly found themselves around her back as he hugged her while she snuggled into his chest, “Screw you and your changes,” Temari mumbled in a half-accusatory, half-sleepy voice.

“I can imagine,” Ren jovially hummed, his hand caressing her hair in the way he knew she loved, “Ebizo is running you ragged, huh?” He comfortingly whispered to her.

They were slowly getting to know each other and becoming more and more comfortable with each other as time passed. Both he and Temari tried to make the best out of their circumstances and tried to spend time together every day.

Shared lunches were the norm. Ren went out of his way to ensure that. Five days ago, Temari had dragged him out for some shopping because he needed some desert-rated clothing. They made an entire date out of it. And while they were still not sleeping in one room, as he held the weary girl in his arms, he couldn’t help but think they were not all that far from it.

“It only brings paperwork. And more paperwork. And then some more paperwork. Do you have any idea how much work organizing your training missions takes?” Temari drowsily complained, but there was no bite in her tone.

Ren smiled. She wasn’t really angry. In fact, he knew she loved her work even if it was taxing. Temari loved her village and always wanted to help it. Well, now she was doing exactly that.

“Clearly, not enough if you still have the energy to complain.” Ren quipped, getting an unamused grunt in reply from the girl who suddenly pushed herself up against his chest, and a bit away from him so she could come face to face with him, giving him a flat stare.

“And what amazing thing did you do today?” Temari blandly asked in the most unimpressed tone Ren had ever heard, causing the corner of his lips to twitch in mirth.

“Well, you know it. While you were working so hard for the betterment of your village, I had the important and exhausting job of resting well at home.” Ren jovially said in a ‘what can you do’ tone. He even added a small shrug to sell the impression better and enjoyed how Temari’s eye started twitching.

But before she could get riled up enough to actually get angry, Ren pressed forward and kissed her. Temari was slightly startled, but soon enough she eagerly reciprocated. Satisfied after feeling all the tension in her body ease up, Ren pulled away and ended the kiss after a few seconds, earning himself a small protesting whine from the blonde that somehow managed to change her position into straddling him during the kiss.

“It’s a very important job, wouldn’t you say?” He asked as his back was pushed against the couch by the hands Temari had on his chest.

“I guess.” Temari distractedly uttered while taking her hands from Ren’s chest and raising them toward her head. Removing her four hair ties with practiced ease, she made her four ponytails fall into a waterfall of sandy tresses all around her shoulders.

Slightly shaking her head, Temari managed to attain a measure of tussled hair look, and with her hand, she pushed the few strands that fell in her face to the side.

“You are very pretty.” Ren stated and propped himself up on his elbows, enjoying the small, happily bashful smile his words brought to Temari’s face.

“You goof.” She sighed with a bit of exasperation while still straddling him. They looked at each other for a tense moment before they both moved forward and kissed again.

For the next twenty-ish minutes, the world ceased to exist for them as they lost themselves in their passion, barely separating their lips for air while their hands roamed each other’s bodies, groping and ruffling the clothes with somewhat hesitant touches that started to grow less uncertain as the time stretched on.

Sadly, all good things had to end. Temari’s stomach suddenly loudly grumbled, making its presence known, and both Ren and Temari froze. Ren blinked. Temari flushed. They awkwardly pulled away.

Ren blinked again, and his cheeks pinked as he noticed Temari’s state of dress. Sometime during their make-out session, he had apparently managed to pull her kimono-like clothes off her shoulders, and her bare, perky breasts were now in front of him.

He didn’t even realize it happened until now.

Seeing Ren’s awkward expression, Temari giggled and proudly pushed her chest out, powering through her own embarrassment and channeling all her sub-par, half-forgotten kunoichi seduction training from her academy days, while trailing her fingers over Ren’s naked chest. He was wearing a casual button-up shirt, and unlike him, the undoing of his buttons by Temari was completely deliberate on her part.

Temari playfully smirked, only the red tips of her ears betraying how she felt. She opened her mouth, most likely to make some seductive remark, when her stomach betrayed her for the second time, sending another loud grumble through the room.

Temari woodenly froze, and Ren started laughing at the absurdity of their situation.

“It’s not funny!” Temari whinily protested, softly hitting Ren’s bare chest with her fists. “Stop laughing!”

He didn’t stop. Huffing, Temari grumbled as she pushed herself off Ren’s lap and pulled her kimono back onto her shoulders, covering her chest before she turned away from him, miffed.

“Great. Now the mood is ruined.” She discontentedly muttered with a dash of frustration in her tone and subconsciously crossed her arms over her chest. She was finally resolved and in a mood to have their first time together, only for this to happen.

This whole ‘Go and have sex’ thing was not as easy as they made it sound in her kunoichi classes. She actually came to care for Ren in her own way during the few days they had spent together. She wanted their first time to mean something. To be special.

Temari felt like punching through the table in her frustration.

In the meantime, Ren finally stopped laughing and regained his cool. “When did you have your last meal?” He asked Temari, nimbly moving behind her on the couch, and threw his arms around her shoulders, embracing her from behind as her back leaned on his chest.

“I…” Temari involuntarily leaned into the embrace. Only then did her brain register the question, and her face scrunched as she thought about it. She missed lunch because Ren did not come to the Kazekage Tower today for the first time this week, and she had been too busy. Breakfast… no. She didn’t have that either. There was no time.

“Uh, I think the last time was yesterday during lunch?” Temari tilted her head in a pondering fashion, and Ren let out an exasperated sigh full of suffering as he put his forehead against the back of her head.

“Temari…” He trailed off, nonplussed.

She had wanted to go and train for the evening yesterday, so she didn’t come home until very late at night. That was alright. As long as she took care of herself. Ren gave her a look.

“I know, I know. I’ll do better. I just forgot.” Temari abashedly admitted, and her stomach grumbled for the third time, agreeing with her, much to her silent mortification.

“Alright.” Ren shook his head, “Let’s get some food into you, and then, we can see if we can get back into the mood, hm?” He teasingly asked before pecking her on the cheek.

Today was perfect for getting frisky, and Ren decided to give it a shot. Gaara was having a night training in the desert, and Kankuro, despite his incessant complaining, started to really enjoy training others in the Wind Release: Done Technique. The pay was good, and he could screw with his students. Today, he would be coaching a few ninjas until late in the evening. Meaning, Ren and Temari had the house for themselves.

Temari blushed, but her lips settled into a grin as they both stood up, and she let herself be pulled into the kitchen by her hand. She looked at Ren’s broad back in quiet anticipation, and her desire suddenly returned.

Yes. She quite liked that plan. She decided she wasn’t going to let him get away so easily. Not today. But first… food!
