Chapter 105: Let him die
“Khriuk!” The antlered beast went limp as Luke remained kneeling on its neck, his claws driven deep into its thick flesh, aiming straight for its heart.
He diverted his gaze toward the bush where the other members of the herd stared at him. Their agression shifting to survival instinct a d they chose to flee.
Gold for Luke.
He was not unscathed. The male deer had been ferocious, barely giving him any space to close in. Even so, thanks to his slowly improving dagger aim, he managed to injure its eye and get close enough to finish the job.

He let out a breath as he stood. The amount of gamma he possessed, compared to the cost of every spell, was staggering.
It took 10G for just five seconds of sensory enhancement. The burst consumed far more with each passing second. Even using enhanced perception for ten seconds left him dry as a husk.
Echolocation wasn’t as useful when he could enhance his perception and find out things far away. However, he knew in the future even that skill would become useful.
But then again, Echolocation wasn’t a cheap skill to use as well.
The growth rate of Gamma was disheartening, frustratingly slow.
But now, he finally had hope. A way to accelerate it.
Dungeons.
He has spent enough time here to know that he would be wasting more energy in finding prey than hunting them.
“Well, let’s see. State your price, system.” He offered the antler up for sale.
The system analyzed its condition and returned an offer.
[Toras: 80
Gamma Points: 10]
Luke almost clicked his tongue. He had spent over ten minutes on that monster, and all he got was eighty toras.
Still, he already had around seven hundred toras stored. Gamma Points, on the other hand, could be used to obtain far better things.
So,
’Exchange it for Gamma points.’
He picked up the antler and stored it in his inventory. The system took it away and rewarded him.
[Gamma Points: 320]
Luke shook his head. He had already used several points on leveling up. Most of them had come from quests and hunts.
“Well, I’ve spent quite some time here,” he muttered, glancing at the setting sun in the distance.
He was currently outside the forest. Within its perimeter, he could only find small beasts that didn’t sell for much. That was why he had caught a few hares for their tender meat and a couple of birds before moving beyond it.
He was slowly getting used to these unruly surroundings, a place where anything could appear.
Yes, it was dangerous. But for the sake of growth, he had to take that risk.
’Well, let’s go…’ With nothing left to hunt, he turned to leave when suddenly,
Grrr
A low growl sounded from behind.
Luke’s senses snapped sharp as he spun on his feet.
His eyes darted around, his hand already gripping the Magma Tooth, ready to strike down whatever had crept so close without being noticed.
Yet no matter how carefully he searched, there was nothing there.
“Am I hallucinating?” he muttered under his breath.
Still, something felt off. Staying here would be foolish.
He had agreed to take risks, but in a darkening forest, with his body already fatigued, investigating this was nothing short of reckless.
Without hesitation, he shifted his stats, enhancing his speed, and dashed toward the forest.
He kept glancing back, but nothing followed him.
Only when he crossed into the inner perimeter did he finally let out a breath of relief.
“What happened?” a guard asked as soon as he spotted him.
“I heard a large beast growling just now, but I couldn’t find it,” Luke replied.
The guard’s eyes sharpened.
“Tell me more about it?” He appeared interested since tomorrow, very special people were coming over.
And under these circumstances the security should be very tight and disciplined.
Luke informed him, “Whatever that thing is, it can probably either blend in its surroundings or has a good hiding skill. I couldn’t notice it until it was quite close.”
That information was vital and alarming.
He then asked for the direction, and Luke pointed it out before heading back toward his house.
Fortunately, he had already gathered the herbs his mother needed, or moving around in this dim light would have been troublesome.
On his way home, he picked up a few things.
As he approached the house, he noticed the construction workers leaving.
“How is the work going?” he asked, raising a brow.
The site in-charge paused and nodded. “Yes. Thanks to the availability of materials, everything is progressing smoothly. We should finish within the given time.”
Luke gave a small nod of appreciation before walking past them and entering the house.
The moment he stepped in, he froze.
Every family member was gathered in the dining hall, yet no one was eating.
They surrounded a man slumped in a chair, his body trembling as he clutched his left arm.
“Gha… it hurts…” Caleb groaned, his nails digging into his upper arm.
Luke narrowed his eyes. Several red blisters had formed on his right hand, swollen and burning.
As he entered, everyone turned to him. Laila looked at him with desperate hope.
“L-Luke… can you help him—”
“Don’t want to.” he cut her off instantly and began to walk away.
“Hey, what kind of attitude is that? Can’t you at least look at him?” Lex snapped.
Luke shot him a cold glare. “I don’t fucking care what happens to him. If you’re so concerned, go ahead and suck out whatever venom he got himself infected with.”
“You…!” Lex’s eyes flared with rage, but Dalia pressed a hand against his chest, stopping him.
Monica slowly turned toward her son, her gaze conflicted.
This time, Luke did not yield.
The way he looked back at her made it clear, she should not try to push him.
He was not going to help Caleb, and no one would change that.
Without another word, he turned and walked away.
Let the bastard die for all he cared.
