Chapter 55: Selfish

Returning home, he found that no one but Laila was in the dining hall.

As he entered, the brunette glanced at him but said nothing.

Luke asked, “Where is Mom?” Before leaving, he needed to speak with his sweetheart and soothe her anxiety. This was the first time he was leaving the village, so there was no doubt she would be worried.

“She is in your room, tidying it up,” Laila replied shortly while cleaning the table.

Luke nodded and decided to visit Dalia first before meeting his mother.

Just then, “Umm… Luke,” Laila called out.

The dark green-haired boy raised his brows and hummed in question. “Need something?”

Laila was clearly nervous to say it. She didn’t turn to look at him, and the tips of her ears were faintly red.

She glanced at him over her shoulder and said, “I… I need a bigger sum this time. Around a hundred.”

Luke grinned briefly and stepped closer to her.

Leaning slightly toward her, his left hand resting on the table and his lips close to her ear, he asked, “What’s the sudden need?”

Laila growled, though with those glassy eyes she looked anything but threatening.

“It has nothing to do with you. Just tell me what I need to do.”

Luke hummed briefly and said, “Are you sure though? A hundred is a little too much…so, in return, I would be expecting a little too much as well.”

She growled, “Just name it…I will do anything.”

Luke chuckled, “Now, that’s more like it.”

He suddenly rested two things on the table before her.

“Tomorrow, in the afternoon, clean yourself properly and use this to lubricate yourself, plug this thing inside your asshole.”

Leaving those words behind, he advanced towards the room across from the dining hall.

Standing there with his used shirt pressed against her nose was a wide-eyed Monica.

For a few moments, no one spoke.

Then her face slowly turned boiling red, and her eyes began to swim.

Luke closed the door behind him and said, “You were missing me already?”

Monica lowered her head in embarrassment as she felt her son’s arms wrap around her back.

Luke fondly rubbed his cheek against hers and said, “Mother… you are so adorable. Ah, I really don’t want to go anywhere. I just want to stay by your side always.”

Monica pouted. “Then… why are you?”

Luke hummed. “I thought you were proud of me for bringing Dalia to meet her mother.”

Monica panicked slightly, thinking she had hurt her baby, and quickly said, “As your mother, I am very proud of you… but I am concerned as well. You will be stepping outside the village for the first time, and Dalia will be depending on you for her protection.”

Luke nodded in understanding. “I know, Mom. But if not now, then a few days later I would have left the village to hunt anyway. Dalia just gave me the reason.”

Monica knew that. With her son’s growing strength and abilities, she understood he wouldn’t remain confined within the boundaries of the village for long.

In fact, she was somewhat relieved that Luke hadn’t asked to get involved with the chief. Otherwise, he would have spent most of his time outside the village and barely returned home.

Still, knowing it was inevitable didn’t truly prepare her when the moment finally arrived.

Luke could only smile helplessly at her reaction.

Gently pulling her along, he first sat down and then guided her onto his lap.

Hugging her from behind, he said softly, “Mom… I am not some idiotic, prideful warrior who would throw himself into danger just to earn more or test his limits. I have something very dear to me to lose. Naturally, I will be cautious whenever I leave your embrace.”

Monica, reluctantly nodded in understanding. She didn’t want her son to depart with stress attached to his shoulders.

Luke tightened his hold around her and rested his chin on her shoulder.

Monica leans into his warmth as well, enjoying these few moments to the fullest.

Then, he softly asked, “By the way…where are you going to sleep tonight?”

Monica momentarily stiffened before she slowly opened her eyes and asked, “Would you mind if I sleep on the same bed as your father?”

Luke nodded, “I don’t want you to share bed with any other man than me. Sorry for being selfish, but this is my honest desire.”

Monica faintly smiled, her cheeks turning warm before she nodded, “I understand. I will sleep here tonight. Don’t worry.”

Luke smiled in response and suddenly pecked at her lips, “Love you, Mom.”
