Chapter 81: Sample

Luke hummed in surprise at their reaction when Dart asked for his help.

Dart looked hesitant, while Nadia seemed nervous, avoiding his gaze.

Tilting his head, Luke said, “What is it? Tell me.”

Dart glanced at his mate before muttering, “I mentioned before that we’ve been trying to have a child for some time now… but even after three years, she hasn’t conceived.”

Luke nodded. “Yes, I remember. But why are you telling me this?” His eyes flicked to Nadia, who was blushing faintly, clearly uncomfortable with the topic, yet not resisting it either.

Dart let out a breath before finally saying, “I heard you’re a skilled medic… so can you tell us what might be the problem?”

Luke leaned back in his seat. There weren’t many ways Dart could have learned about his medical skills, but since he sounded so certain, Luke chose not to question it.

After a brief pause, Luke said, “I’ll be honest. It might sound rude and embarrassing, so stop me now or don’t interrupt me later.”

Dart nodded. “We’ve prepared ourselves. You’re saying this for our sake, so we won’t stop you.” Holding Nadia’s hand, he added, “Please… tell us what’s wrong with us.”

Luke took a slow breath. “For a proper answer, I’d need to examine a few things. But from what I know, the issue could be with either one of you… or both.”

From his understanding, it wasn’t just about low sperm count or irregular egg production. Compatibility between them could also play a role. There were too many possibilities to narrow it down without checking.

Dart’s shoulders tightened. “What are the chances we can fix this?”

Luke exhaled. “If it’s a physical issue… then there’s a chance you might not be able to have a child of your own.”

Nadia’s breath hitched, while Dart’s jaw tightened.

It wasn’t common, but it wasn’t unheard of either. There had been cases where a man couldn’t have a child with a particular woman for reasons no one understood, and so he brought another mate into his home.

Dart tightened his grip around Nadia’s hand before speaking. “Is there no way… for us to have a child without me… taking another mate?” He let out a slow breath, then added, “When I first held Nadia’s hand, I promised I would never take another mate. And I still stand by that promise.”

Luke sighed. “Look, if something’s wrong with Nadia, then you’ll have to take another mate if you want a child carrying your blood,” he said bluntly.

Dart hesitated before asking, “But… what if something’s wrong with me?”

He had once heard of a man who, even after taking seven mates, couldn’t father a child. In the end, that man had left the village in shame and fury—after taking the lives of those innocent women.

So Dart knew such a possibility existed.

Luke glanced at Nadia before replying, “Then it’s your choice. What can I say to that?” He was an outsider. This decision belonged to them alone.

All he could do was examine their condition, and for that—

Letting out a breath, he said, “Well, Dart… why don’t you step outside with me for a moment?”

Nadia quickly added, “Yes, please. I want to hear it too. Whatever it is, I want both of us to be part of it.”

Dart turned to his mate, his eyes filled with warmth and quiet affection.

Nadia met his gaze with the same gentle reassurance.

Luke grumbled, rubbing the back of his head. Then, tossing aside any sense of modesty, he asked,

“So… how often do you two do it? I mean, mate?”

The couple, who had just been sharing a tender moment, froze.

A deep blush spread across Nadia’s face, and Dart wasn’t any better.

Dart turned to Luke, clearly flustered.

Luke shrugged. “I told you, this won’t be easy. If you want proper treatment, don’t hide anything from your medic. Come on, tell me. How often do you get… close?”

Dart cleared his throat before answering, “Once in a while… the last time was thirty days ago.”

“…” Luke’s gaze shifted to Nadia again.

All that beauty, and it went untouched for so long? Honestly… no, better not say it. That thought alone might make Dart lose his temper.

Luke then purchased three small vials from the system, each costing a single point, and handed them to Dart.

“Dart… I’ll need a sample of your seed.”

“W-What the—huh? Really?” Dart nearly jumped at those words, but one look at Luke’s face told him he was completely serious.

Luke then turned to Nadia. “She’ll need to provide blood in one vial… and her sex fluids in the other.”

Nadia slowly nodded, having already anticipated something like this, and took the vials from his hand.

Though she could barely bring herself to think about it, collecting the sample would require her to be mindful the next time she and Dart were intimate.

Luke then got up and said, “Try to provide that to me by tomorrow given I would leave the day after tomorrow.”

Dart took a strong gulp as he glanced at Nadia…he really didn’t know whether he could do it today but since it has become the matter about their kid, he has to try tonight.

Luke then soon left, only after giving Nadia one last glance.

Dart was his good friend. Someone who has been kind to him since the beginning and someone who protected him when he got wasted after his battle back then

That’s why, he was genuinely trying to help her rather than trying to find his way to Nadia’s bed.

But yes…if the opportunity rises…then why not?
