Chapter 64: Work for me

Early in the morning, Luke woke up with a long yawn.

Stretching his arms, he glanced around and realized he was not at home but at Dalia’s place.

Speaking of Dalia, she was sleeping soundly beside him. Her bare body still carried several red marks across her neck and breasts.

He chuckled, remembering how she had failed to keep up with him the night before. She had fainted right before he could finish a second time inside her.

“Damn… I forgot to give her the pills.” It had been nearly twelve hours since they finished, and now he wasn’t sure the morning-after pills would even work.

Scratching his head, he decided to hand them to her once she woke up and just hope Lex wouldn’t end up raising his kid. Though honestly, the thought sounded kind of amusing.

As he walked to the window, he spoke to the system.

“What notification were you pinging last night?” Between a sexy milf moaning beneath him and a system screen, he had obviously chosen the more delicious option and ignored the other one

Damn. A hidden quest. Not the first time, but the points still surprised him.

“Was seducing Dalia really that hard in your eyes, system?”

Luke chuckled and shook his head. His experience handling all kinds of women in his past life had definitely helped him find his way into Dalia’s bed.

Still, he barely believed things would continue between them after this. She was still deeply in love with Lex. Even in her sleep she had been apologizing to him. So yes, Luke had his fun, but he wouldn’t interfere with them anymore.

Luke grinned. “About time.”

He then gave the command, ’Use the points to level up.’

[Until then, host, please refrain from getting into a battle as the system wouldn’t be able to assign a quest.]

Luke nodded in agreement. ’Yeah, wouldn’t want to take risks without rewards.’

He cracked his neck and went back to putting on his clothes.

Then, he looked at Dalia before gently shaking her. “Hey, wake up. We need to go back.”

Dalia groaned in her sleep, her delicate brows knitting together. “Is it…morning already?”

Luke hummed before replying, “I’ll be waiting outside, so clean up and get dressed soon.”

Dalia hummed softly as she closed her eyes again.

Luke huffed before giving her aching butt a light spank, prompting her eyes to snap open.

“That hurts!” she complained.

“Then stop dozing off and get up. I’ve worked a lot more than you, and yet you’re sleeping like a princess.”

Dalia groaned but didn’t try to close her eyes again.

She slowly rose from the bed, covering her chest with the sheet as she told him, “Step out. I need to change.”

Luke chuckled, as if he hadn’t already seen all of her. Regardless, he didn’t argue and stepped outside.

Outside, the smell of cooked meat wafted through the air, reaching his hungry stomach.

“Ah, you are awake.” Ginna said with a smile as she saw the young man step out of the room.

She was cooking meat in an earthen pot at the center of the hall, the heat from the coal making her skin glisten with sweat.

Luke tilted his head. “Do you generally wake up early?”

Ginna nodded. “Early morning, it’s easier to catch prey off guard. Since I can’t hunt strong monsters, I usually rely on traps and surprise ambushes.”

Luke hummed. “Then why don’t you leave this place and live with Dalia?”

He could tell the woman was barely surviving in this unruly place, one governed by goons and criminals.

And now that he had killed one of the infamous ones, he had a feeling more would come, and they might target the older woman next.

Ginna looked down at the pot, her eyes drooping. “I don’t want to become a burden on anyone. That’s why I stay where I am.”

Luke understood her point, and truth be told, he also felt she would be too much for Lex to handle. Yes, he was a strong warrior, but if another resident were added to the house, apart from the rotation fees, he would need to manage accommodation, meals, and sometimes medical expenses too.

Changing the topic, Ginna said, “Come and eat food first.”

Luke nodded and approached her. Since there wasn’t any chair or table, he sat down on the ground just like her.

Ginna took the biggest piece of meat from the pot and served it with some soup and bread.

Luke appreciated the hospitality before he tore the bread which was actually way too soft for someone to be making it at home.

He then dipped it in the soup and took a bite.

“Hmm?” He was surprised…it actually melted on his tongue and the sweet spicy taste of the soup just seemed to have melted all his exhaustion.

He rested the bread on the side and pressed the rim of the bowl against his lips before tilting the bowl.

Ginna smiled fondly seeing him enjoy the food so much.

As Luke lowered the pot, he suddenly had an idea, “You can come with us. I want you to work as a helper in the house.”

Ginna was taken aback. Rather than a compliment…he was offering her a job?
