Chapter 62: Kill him
“Be my guest. I’ve wasted enough time already.”
Riven pointed at Jasper. “Kill him!”
The Grave Knight jumped into action immediately. It leaped into the air, its sword a blur as it swung it, but suddenly the space between it and the ground gave way, and the Grave Knight was forcefully pulled to the ground with such force that the platform cracked.
Jasper laughed. “Do you think I can only pull towards me? I can pull more ways than you can imagine. Do you think you can really handle me because your undead is dressed fancy? Check this!”
Before Riven knew what was happening, something yanked his head from the back so hard he felt something almost twist in his neck.
But midair, he twisted, spinning around and used the momentum to right his body into a crouching position. ’…so he can destroy space at specific locations too… this will indeed make it difficult to fight him…’
’…but the only loophole I can see right now is that… the force only pulls… it doesn’t hold on… in fact, from what I’ve seen, the force created by the collapsing space will only pull for some moments…’
The Grave Knight exploded forward from its position once more, but again it was pulled back. Jasper smiled. “You can’t even reach me. I can continue to attack you and hold you back without you getting within my space.”
Riven’s eyes darkened. He remembered what Kivara said — that he might be a genius when it comes to Sigil rank, but that some are also geniuses in other types.
Jasper’s Sigil type could be considered genius because it makes him powerful and different. Indeed, the world is big. Riven solemnly nodded his head to what she said.
He took a deep breath and then flooded his connection to the Grave Knight with power. “I can’t get to you? Then I’ll just use my raw strength!”
The Grave Knight leaped to its feet again. Its body was glowing with faint green aura that warped around its limbs.
Jasper laughed. “You ape, do you think you can force your way towards me? You are free to try.”
The Knight began to walk towards him, but again the space behind it cracked. This time, it wasn’t immediately sent flying. It dug its feet deep into the ground. Even as its armor creaked, it still did not move.
Jasper sneered and snapped his fingers, collapsing more space. The force hit so hard that the Grave Knight was sent back, and midair, another force collapsed and the Grave Knight was slammed down.
Jasper shook his head. “I really expected something. I thought you pulled something impressive out with this, but you’re just an ape. A young master, my ass!”
Riven nodded curiously at the Grave Knight. “I guess this is why necromancers always strive to collect different bodies — so they could find suitable ones for different opponents.”
Jasper was still speaking, constantly collapsing the space on the ground whenever the Grave Knight stood up. He turned it into a game. Each time it slammed the Grave Knight down, Riven would wince a little.
Because the Grave Knight was getting damaged and would in turn pull more aura to heal itself.
Jasper didn’t understand that, too blinded by the fact that he was toying with Riven before he beat the shit out of him. Or maybe it was the fact that he’d never really fought a necromancer before.
But others who knew were frowning. “This boy, Riven. He has an impressive amount of aura. Controlling an undead isn’t easy, but to think he’s even using aura to heal his undead each time it’s damaged… Impressive! Simply impressive!”
Suddenly, they became even more interested in the boy and shot jealous looks at Kivara’s master. “He’ll be the one to get him. Another one. I tell you, the Clan should find a way to make them permanent Sect members!”
Meanwhile, Tong was strangely feeling unease. It was the same feeling he got when he fought Kivara for the first time and realized that she was going to beat him.
And it was because of Riven’s expression. Riven was too calm and collected. He was watching his undead like he was collecting research on the fight, not like someone who’s about to get beaten.
Tong couldn’t hold it in anymore. He gritted his teeth. “Just beat him already!”
Jasper nodded. “Alright. Time to break your bones so hard that your useless family will feel it in their grave!”
Riven flinched as if he’d been hit. “What did you say?”
Jasper paused. “I’m talking about your useless family. What’s that look on your face? You don’t want me to talk about your family that are languishing and rolling in dirt back in your village?”
Riven’s ears seemed to echo. There were very few things that could make him angry. He’d grown tough skin from all the bullying the villagers put him through, but even they knew not to insult his family.
His family that was made up of his sister.
Riven began to laugh. His laughter was like nails grinding against nails directly in the ear. The students around them were on edge immediately because they felt as if they were in danger. The rank twos especially moved away from the platform.
Jasper frowned. “What are you…!!”
“Heed me, Spartacus!” Riven poured all his anger into the summon.
With a thought, he cut the connection with the Grave Knight and it entered into the gate.
Behind Riven, a shadow suddenly loomed.
“Wh… what is that? Another undead? You think you can beat me with just another undead of yours?” Jasper said, but he unconsciously moved back a few steps.
The warrior that stood behind Riven seemed to be breathing bloodlust. It was no aura pressure but bloodlust from someone that had killed thousands upon thousands.
Every single person in the place felt as if a sword had been directly pointed at them. Even the instructors shifted in their seats. This was not the feeling of facing someone powerful, but that of knowing that something — and someone — was dangerous because they had killed too much.
It was instinctive. It was instinct, and even practitioners were not free from it. In fact, it was because they were practitioners that they could feel it.
Spartacus was a warrior that had killed a lot — close and personal. Every inch of him was cloaked in bloodlust.
