Chapter 54: Rampage II
Lily let go of Azazel while Elias…
Well Elias was confused, one moment he had been alone in approaching the Midwoods and the next moment? He was standing in a clearing within the forest full of aspirants ready to draw blood.
“H-How?”
He stared at Azazel with an expression of awe and fear.
Awe because the lout of the Astavore family far surpassed his expectations, fear because his divine blade Sol could sense the will of a legendary grade creature within him, something ancient, something divine.
Elias was aware Azazel had an eccentric ability to teleport using coins, but he didn’t know Azazel could teleport others as well.
And he was correct.
Azazel couldn’t do so before. It was only after absorbing the will of Muninn that he obtained the ability to do so.
Well he didn’t really obtain the ability, he could have done so earlier but he didn’t have the mana capable of carrying out such a technique.
After absorbing Muninn, he had obtained a large amount of mana, permanently increasing his reserves.
Apparently the soul mirror had counted that as a kill, and the mana he got? It was massive, worthy of something that came from a legendary grade.
He still hadn’t checked the rewards from claiming Muninn, and the muffled gronk he had heard? Well that was the will of the Raven carving itself into his soul.
The aspirants were dazed for only a second before they snapped out of it.
Three people appearing from thin air was surprising enough, but most of them were trained from birth so they didn’t linger, they attacked.
A poor choice.
The first person who moved died the next instant, it was so swift, the rest couldn’t even register when it happened.
Lily’s whip met the neck of the aspirant, wrapped around his head like he had a mind of its own and then, she pulled.
His head snapped back, his eyes went white, body convulsing slightly before he disappeared into motes of light.
Lily giggled softly, her face flushed pink.
She licked her lips slowly while her eyelids lowered causing her gaze to grow heavy.
Her breath came slow and heavy, then she chuckled.
Azazel narrowed his eyes, his gaze lingered on her for a second longer than usual.
Something about Lily felt different, her entire demeanor had changed, becoming more confident and deliberate.
She walked slowly, every movement, every deliberate sway of her hips, Azazel caught it all.
“Master ~” She called, “Can I kill them all?”
Her eyes held something hypnotic within them, they had strange markings within them.
It wasn’t Lily.
It was Liliana.
Lily’s demonic side.
“No” Azazel responded coldly.”Everyone here is my prey, clear the surroundings.”
Her eyes lit up with glee.
“Then after that, do I get to fight you, Master?”
Azazel responded immediately.
“No, you’ll die for me.”
She pouted.
“That’s no fun~”
Azazel sighed.
“I’ll grant you a favor.”
Liliana giggled.
“Fine then, you promised.”
Nathaniel watched the whole exchange with a repulsive look.
His brows lifted high then collapsed into a weary pinch.
“What in heavens name is this! Get the fuck out of my sight if you wanna play romance.”
Liliana spared Nathaniel a glance.
Her lips split into a knowing smile, then she licked her lips before muttering.
“So that’s how it is, huhuhu~”
Liliana strolled away from the crowd of aspirants to go hunt the remaining ones.
They were actually forgetting that it wasn’t mandatory to kill everyone, but they had finished more than half the numbers of aspirants and it was allowed since the timer for the exam hadn’t gone off.
One of the aspirants growled, his eyes scanned the trio in brief sharp movements which didn’t dare to linger for too long.
“How dare you ignore us! Do we look like a joke to you?”
Azazel scoffed.
“Isn’t that obvious? You don’t look like a joke… you lots are jokes.”
A spark of green light manifested over his face as he summoned an item from his soul mirror.
The fool’s mask appeared on his face like a second layer of skin, its features eerie.
The mask was a pale white, as though it was made from an alabaster material, it had a creepy grin with tear drop accents just below the eyes.
Speaking of the eyes, it was the most eerie part of the mask, Azazel’s sclera had turned black while his iris glowed with unholy green radiance.
The aspirants shuddered.
Although he was standing in front of them, they could no longer feel his presence.
It was faint and easy to miss.
Now they were scared.
And people who were scared, barely reasoned properly.
So they attacked.
The aspirant who had spoken, had deep blue hair and droopy eyes.
He had a forgettable face, average in every way.
But he was one of the named characters within the game and Azazel recognized him.
’Xiu Wuhye.’ Azazel remarked.
Under normal circumstances, Azazel would have had a hard time dealing with him.
In terms of raw strength, Xiu Wuhye was a beast, and when he activated his blessing? Even Elias or Nathaniel would have a hard time dealing with him.
Needless to say, no one was really using their blessing even though nothing was stopping them from doing so.
After all, Viola had mentioned at the start that there were no rules.
But most aspirants were smart enough not to reveal theirs.
They ran towards the trio with their weapons drawn and while the casters fired spells.
The support classes were buffing and replenishing the depleted mana of the aspirants.
Right now they had a common enemy.
Azazel watched them approach, his posture was nonchalant and relaxed.
He raised a single finger towards the incoming aspirants then spoke.
“Influence.”
Gray mana swirled together at the tip of his pointed finger and then he let it go.
It moved slowly, warping space as it flew.
Some of the aspirants avoided the attack by throwing their weight to the side narrowly dodging the swirling mass of mana, while others brought up protective shields.
The dumber ones or perhaps overconfident ones simply let it whoosh past them… until Azazel spoke from beneath the mask.
“Distort.”
The chaos mana orb exploded outward creating a rift behind the aspirants.
They paled, trying to change the course of their advance but it was too late.
Blood streamed down Azazel’s eyes, staining the pale mask crimson.
Despite the pain…
He smiled.
“Invert.”
And then, the space spiraled into the rift.
