Chapter 82: Quiet schemes
“The weather is quite strange.” A certain red haired noble mused with a smile.
It had been raining for two days straight, not that he particularly hated it or anything, rather the rain brought him a tranquil sense of comfort.
The rain was Azazel’s favourite type of the weather, it was calm and perfect for him as someone who loved reading.
From the corner of his eyes, he could see Lily studying on the sofa.
Strangely, the succubus had a passion for learning.
But of course he had been the one to recommend those books to her.
Azazel wasn’t as naive as to think that Viola would just let things rest at the physical examination, and of course he suspected that another exam was going to take place because a written exam had actually been included in the game.
Although it was skippable, and Azazel?
Well he never really bothered himself with those cutscenes which didn’t include fighting.
Since the night before, Lily had been residing in his own apartment.
The air around them had gone back to its usual feel, albeit after a few moments of awkwardness.
Fortunately, they had been both sane enough to stop whatever they had going on that night before they crossed a line of no return.
Azazel returned his gaze towards the scenery outside.
The rain still hadn’t let up.
His mind wandered briefly, recalling the letter he had sent to the king, a formal apology for endangering the Prince and for ignoring several protocols… formally at least.
The letter was a farce.
What Azazel had done was to cunningly demand compensation from the king.
His lips curled into a creepy smile.
’I wonder what face he made reading that letter… heh… kekeke, either way it’s not my business, all I want is gold… money, yes… money, I’m sure his magnanimity could overlook the wrong aspect and reward me nicely.’
Lily glanced at him with a strange look, then she returned her attention back to her books.
Azazel oblivious, continued to indulge himself in a distant fantasy which promised gold and treasures.
His excitement was soon cut short as a thought crossed his mind.
’As expected, they suppressed the news of Priel’s death.’
The academy was still investigating the culprit but Azazel made sure they couldn’t trace anything back to him.
For that very reason he avoided using his chaos mana around the surroundings of the guesthouse.
Instead he had used the tainted blade, Akathartos’ aura.
Unlike his chaos mana, the tainted relic had a very vile aura, one which was almost suffocating.
It was as the same as witnessing the aura of a corrupt demi-god, even though it drew mana from him, it wasn’t easy to trace anything back to him.
Even if she were to detect chaos mana in the surroundings, it wouldn’t only be his but Elsa’s and Zander’s.
If it were just two lingering chaos mana then she could have narrowed it down to Leona and him, but three meant someone else was involved, but who else but a chaos bringer would even show up to Nexus academy’s city, the patriarch couldn’t even attend himself, nor could his wife and children.
Viola couldn’t antagonize a chaos bringer based on a suspicion alone, Priel wasn’t even worth that much.
Forget him, she wouldn’t even be safe if they all decide to come her head, for the sake of the school, they took care of his body discreetly and disposed the corpse.
Azazel shifted within the seat of his work table.
’I hope those two got the message, they’re next.’
To touch his sister.
Those worm-like bastards had planned to assassinate his sister.
It was simply…
’Unforgivable.’
He returned his gaze to his book then muttered softly.
“Patience, they will all pay eventually.”
Including Kyle.
He couldn’t afford to act again for now but that was fine, he never planned to kill Espen that easily, he wanted to break the arrogant noble until Espen himself would take his own life.
As for Kyle…
Azazel had very creative ideas for him.
The Prince would not be spared even though he might not die like the rest, Azazel vowed to himself to leave a permanent scar on Kyle.
One, time wouldn’t be able to heal.
He let his thoughts wander again, this time towards a white haired shortie.
He still didn’t know how to acquire Tyrisa.
She was an important character no doubt, the game proved that but there were certain playthroughs where she switched sides to villainous organizations.
Azazel didn’t know the specific reason why she did that but he knew it had nothing to do with revenge or anything, her family was still alive and she didn’t lose anyone she was close to, at least non that he knew of.
They didn’t reveal the particular reason why she joined a villain organization but if one paid enough attention to her cutscenes then they would get some clues about it.
Azazel’s guess though… was that she was looking for a relic.
But he couldn’t be sure about it.
And he couldn’t approach her based on a mere speculation and so…
He took the most convenient route available.
It was well known among the aspirants that princess Tyrisa D’el Nyx wasn’t much of a conversationalist, in fact she openly ignored conversations and spared little to no attention to others which earned her the nickname, frost heart.
Similar to others, Azazel was merely an object of interest but unlike the others, he had managed to acquire a rather specific appearance in her mind.
To Tyrisa, Azazel was both an enigma and a delinquent.
Or a madman.
To sum it up, she didn’t see Azazel in a positive light.
And he had taken advantage of that.
Tyrisa was short, she knew.
She could pretend otherwise but Azazel saw how disturbed she was by it.
And let’s not get started on the heels, almost every boot she wore had heels so he had poked his fingers at her fragile pride and had struck where it hurt the most.
Azazel returned his gaze to his book then laughed.
“She looks like a raccoon.”
It was amusing.
And he wanted to see how feral she was when she bared her teeth.
