Chapter 84: A jolly dance under the rain II
The raccoon just happened to be a short white haired princess who had a stoic look on her face.
To anyone not looking closely, her expression remained her usual aloof mask, but Azazel’s enhanced perception had been able to pick the slightest change in her posture, the unsteady rhythm of her mana.
He smiled.
It wasn’t every day you got to see an ice princess worked up, but of course you had to hand it to Azazel, he was as infuriating as they come.
Lily took a second to observe Tyrisa and Tai, her gaze wasn’t hostile, it was sharp, calculating and a bit amused.
The kind of gaze that seemed to scream that she already knew what her master was playing at.
She said nothing.
But her body tensed a bit when Azazel grabbed her hand and pulled her close to him as though he was advertising her like a valuable antique no one besides him could ever hope to obtain.
Startled, she stuttered.
“M-Master?”
“Yes Lily” he replied with a sly smile on his face.
His voice was low, almost seductive, the vibration carrying through his chest and into her.
She shuddered.
Tyrisa’s eyes went wide for a fraction of a second, she opened her mouth but no words came out, so she closed it, then opened it once again, still she was at a loss for words.
“What’s the matter princess, cat’s got your tongue?” Azazel asked, as though addressing a literal princess casually like they had known each other since they were toddlers, wasn’t a big deal.
Newsflash it was.
If someone else had tried it, Tyrisa could request for their head and she would get it.
Azazel was different.
Tyrisa felt like he wasn’t worth the risk probably because she was certain that the moment she placed a target on him, she would not only waste her money but also lose talented assassins in the process.
Tai stepped ahead of Tyrisa, he didn’t utter a sound, not immediately at least.
He stood a bit aside from her, enough to let her know he wasn’t disrespecting her stance but was trying to defend her.
His eyes narrowed slightly, then his voice followed.
“You will regard her highness with respect.”
Azazel snorted.
“Hah, pardon me but regretfully I will do no such thing, in case you haven’t heard I’m not particularly known to have the best reputation around here, moreover! I’m an Astavore. I don’t take orders and I do as I please; to whoever it may be a nuisance to, yeah I’m not sorry and I don’t give two shits about respect.”
Tai’s fingers twitched for a moment, just a single moment but even that couldn’t escape Azazel’s watchful eyes.
Azazel smiled.
To be honest, his intention was never to drag things out like this.
He simply just wanted a bit of her time, just enough to talk and observe her before ensnearing her into his trap.
Not like he was complaining though.
If anything it was better, he needed to confirm how much of a threat Tai would be.
He knew nothing about Tyrisa’s shadow, only the fact Tai was extremely loyal to his master.
Well considering the fact that he was trying to acquire Tyrisa as a pawn, he at least needed to know what the shadow was capable of.
And how he could make use of him.
’Time is running out.’
Azazel didn’t know why but he felt like something was going to happen, his instinct was screaming at him.
He needed to get stronger.
Not just by a small margin but stronger in a way that he would become a walking calamity.
But he didn’t plan to do it alone, besides Lily and Tyrisa he also planned to bring a few characters into his own party, characters he knew wouldn’t interfere in Elias’ growth, characters who were relevant but without fixed roles.
He already had a few in mind, but his priority was limited to just three.
Lily, Tyrisa and Nathaniel.
That aside, he still had plans on hijacking an assassin’s guild however that was going to have to wait a bit.
Azazel had no doubts that Valenis was already scheming something.
The vixen was probably recalculating and making changes to her initial plans most likely because a variable—Azazel—had shown up.
The ghost of a smile played on his lips.
Valenis could scheme, plot and even do something out of the ordinary, he couldn’t be bothered to care… because Azazel knew that no matter how she went about it, if the purpose of her original plan was the same then he would always be one step ahead of her.
A small silence descended between them and even the people surrounding them noticed the tension but then…
Azazel laughed.
Amused perhaps but it was a mild chuckle.
Then he snapped his fingers.
The instant he did, Tai blinked, then he suddenly found himself standing a few steps away from the spot Azazel had previously been, while watching with wide eyes as Azazel took his mistress by the hand and placed his other on her waist.
Tyrisa’s face flushed pink immediately as she flinched under his touch.
Her eyes shook slightly and Azazel clearly saw it.
The expression she was making.
Not fear.
Confusion.
’H-How, I didn’t even sense him approaching.’ She thought.
An array of possible explanations flooded her mind but she found none which came close to the truth of what she had just witnessed.
“Eyes up here princess.” Azazel grinned. “How good are you on your feet?”
“You! Let go of me.”
“Pffffftttt please, we both know you can escape my grasp if you really wanted to.”
He was right, and she knew he was but looking at him up close only one thought came to mind.
’He’s handsome.’
“Ack?!” The realization of what she had just thought hit her like a train and her face, down to her neck flushed crimson.
Seeing her flustered, Azazel laughed then moved first, guiding her steps to flow with the song.
Tyrisa was quick to follow, after all, she was an assassin.
Footworks were merely one of the many trainings she received as a child.
Tai stood there, mouth agape like he wasn’t sure what he was seeing was real.
Lily on the other hand stared with a neutral expression but Liliana was grinning on the inside like a predator who had found a cute helpless prey she would rather play with than devour.
’~My My, he’s such a devil.’ She cooed.
Because…
She knew exactly what he was doing.
