Chapter 106: One Chance

The next few days were brutal. It took a while for them to find the people they had been searching for. When they did, they understood it would not be easy to get close to them. They were constantly surrounded.

It might be easier to get close to Valor. The man looked like a gentleman but had the heart of a philanderer. It was obvious from the numerous women he surrounded himself with that he took advantage of his station.

Or maybe those women were willing to be taken advantage of? A man who was close to Valentina, it would be a good thing to get in his good graces. Even if it meant only being his bedmate.

As for Kline, she looked like a tough cookie. She rarely talked to anyone outside of work. Men flocked to her, but she didn’t give them a look. If they didn’t know that all the people who worked for Valentina had also been exposed to the toxin, but in lesser doses, they would truly believe she wasn’t interested in anyone sexually.

As luck would have it, Ember and Aiden got the chance to get close to her. Apparently, it was a routine inspection. Ember and Aiden were making out, close to the security offices. The newcomers had become increasingly bold, so while tracking, they also needed to play the part.

None of the newcomers were actively fucking in random places, so they came as close as they had seen.

“Stop,” Kline said. Her entourage was looking at Ember and Aiden. Pretending to be lustful but also still coherent, they pulled apart, breathing heavily. “You…” she pointed at Ember. “Stay in my office.”

She gestured to one of the guards to escort Ember to her office.

“As for you, find someone else.”

Aiden wouldn’t let it go so easily. “My wife isn’t your property. If you have something to say, then say it. I’ll wait here until she comes back.”

“Wife?” Kline repeated.

“Yes, wife.” Aiden crossed his arms over his chest. “I don’t particularly care how high up you are. The inner-city is supposed to be a paradise. Do you just kidnap anyone you want?”

“Kidnapping?” Kline scoffed. “She looked suspicious. I’m doing what I’m supposed to do as security.”

“Well, she hasn’t done anything wrong, so I’ll wait here to see my wife come out.”

Kline did not continue entertaining the conversation. She walked off with her entourage, leaving Aiden leaning against the wall. As soon as she left, Aiden called out to Ember. They had allowed Ember to be called away only because they wanted information from Kline.

“Em, where are you?” Aiden asked.

“In her office, apparently. It looks nice. If this is the office a supervisor gets, I can only imagine where Valentina lives. Aiden, we need to upgrade the base when we go back. We are bumpkins in comparison to this place.”

Ember sent him an image. The office was relatively large. It used premium materials and had ergonomic furniture. There were signs of advanced tech and even a biophilic design. The plants inside were pristinely maintained. Aiden agreed that they needed to update the base.

“Why do you think she sent you to her office?”

“Maybe she wants to yet at me to not be a slut?” Ember shrugged.

“Even if you’re a slut, you’re my slut.” Aiden grinned.

Ember shook her head. “I’m going to have the CE do a scan. I don’t know if there are cameras. If they catch me going through her things, that might cause trouble. If the CE scans, I’ll just pretend I fell asleep waiting.”

Aiden acknowledged her statement and cut contact. He was previously curious about why the CE couldn’t just scan the Spire, so they didn’t need to do this. Apparently, if it did, the other system would be aware of its location.

The integration with the Lust System planted a signature signal that the Dominance Lust System can track. Of course, this works the same way with the CE; it can also track that system. Certain methods can be used, but a large-scale search would only reveal their location.

It didn’t take long to scan, only a few minutes. The CE was even able to scan a few toys. Ember was surprised; she hadn’t expected Kline to be the kind of person to keep sex toys in her office. So is she not having sex with other people but just using toys to keep herself ’sedated’?

Ember relayed the image of the toys to Aiden.

“Well, seems someone knows how to have fun,” Aiden commented. “So are you leaving?”

“No,” Ember answered quickly. “It might cause more trouble than it’s worth. Since she called me in, there is a reason. I might as well wait to see what she wants.” Ember made herself comfortable on the sofa she saw in the room. “You can go do whatever you want. I’m sleeping here for a while.”

“It seems I have outlived my use,” Aiden chuckled, walking away.

“Never, I just don’t want you to be tired. And don’t tell me you aren’t. We’ve been fucking for the past few days to get the toxin out of our system. I don’t think the four of us have had a good night’s sleep since we got here.”

“And the doses are increasing…” Aiden pointed out.

“Exactly. So go back and rest while you have the chance. You know where I am, and if I’m in danger, you’ll know.” Ember yawned and closed her eyes.

When Ember opens her eyes, she isn’t sure what time it is. She only knows what she heard: the door open and shut. Realizing she wasn’t at home, she knew she needed to get up quickly.

She wasn’t sure what kind of person Kline was, so it was better not to give her anything to hold against her. What Ember hadn’t noticed was that when Kline walked in, she had inadvertently seen her naked snatch.

Ember had stopped wearing underwear because of how often she and Aiden were having sex. She thought it was better to have one less article of clothing.
