Chapter 109: Separation

The following day, Ember, Cassandra, Luka, and Aiden were separated. They were sent to work in different places. They hadn’t even known they would be assigned work. Then again, they don’t really talk to the newcomers. Every time they tried, they might end up having sex. Because the more toxins they become exposed to, the more sex-crazed they become.

They had noticed there were some who weren’t like the other, but they had no clue how they were selected. And since they mainly kept to themselves, they had always considered themselves drones. So public sex had almost become a staple for them.

Today, however, they were told that they would be sent to different places to work. Aiden was sent to security, Cassandra and Ember were sent to different parts of administration, and Luka was sent to the supply office.

They worked there for the day before going back home. After experiencing the day, they couldn’t understand what was happening. Over the next few days, they would notice their coworkers becoming more and more agitated.

On this particular day, Aiden was called out of the security office. He was escorted to a wing of the Spire that he had never been to before. He was ushered in with efficiency. When the door closed behind him, he saw someone he hadn’t expected…Valentina.

Aiden looked at her, calm. He refused to show any form of panic. As soon as he saw her, he sent a message to Ember, letting them know that they had been compromised. As Aiden looked at Valentina, Valentina stared at Aiden.

The first day she had the four separated, she found out that Aiden was a part of the group. She also found out that Ember was a part of the group, too. She wasn’t sure what to say at first. She hadn’t expected the people who were immune to be them.

She still remembered the bracelet. She thought the bracelet was the reason they might be immune. She hadn’t thought much about her previous life. In that life, she had men taking care of everything for her. All she needed to do was spread her legs, and they would wait on her hand and foot.

In this life, she took everything she wanted. She no longer waited for someone to give her anything. She stood tall among them all. Now, seeing Aiden, she thought, if he had the bracelet, she could bring him to her side.

“Aiden,” Valentina said sweetly. “Why didn’t you let me know you were here? I would have come pick you up.”

Aiden was indifferent. “You don’t need to act, Valentina. You and I both know you aren’t as innocent as you seem.”

Valentina searched Aiden’s eyes for a while before taking off her mask of innocence. Her body collapsed into a chair close by. She gestured for Aiden to sit.

“I think I’ll stand, thanks.”

“Don’t be like that. We used to be so close,” Valentina said, appearing wounded.

“We were never close,” Aiden replied.

Valentina scoffed. “Just like a man. As soon as the woman has no use, you throw her away.”

“Why? Were you waiting for me? Wait…” Siden held up a hand. “…don’t answer that. If you say yes, then I have to refresh your memory.”

Valentina didn’t quite understand what he was referring to, so she said. “I think I was waiting for you. Is there something wrong with that?”

“Hector, Emory, Jake, Gavin, Brian, Richard…would you like me to continue?”

Hearing those names, Valentina’s mouth twitched. She understood. It seems Aiden had always known. When the shock subsided, Valentina laughed. A belly laugh that made it seem as though she was genuinely happy to hear those names.

“So you knew…and you were still willing to be with me.” Valentina sighed wistfully.

“I was never with you because of you as a person. You made Em jealous, so you were useful.” Aiden’s words slapped Valentina, who was still thinking he found her too good to resist.

“What?!” she said, jumping out of her chair.

“That’s right,” Aiden nodded. “You were never a choice.”

Valentina chortled, “Aiden, I don’t think you understand how this works. You’re in my territory. You have no way out. You should be trying to please me instead of making me angry.”

“Why should I lie?” Aiden asked. He wasn’t being blindly confident. The CE had a way to get them out. Though it would be troublesome, it gave Aiden the courage to say whatever he wanted.

Valentina’s nostrils flared, she was breathing heavily, and her eyes were cold. Gritting her teeth, she said, “What would you do if your friends became my drones? You’ve been here for a while. I know you’re smart. You should have seen what this place is the moment you walked in.”

“They won’t,” Aiden said confidently. “But I can’t say they won’t have sex with your drones.

“How about we make a bet? If I can turn your people into drones, you stay with me. You’ll give me the bracelet I asked for last time. That’s all I ask.”

“Why should I?”

“Because the only way you and your friends are getting out of here is to go past my people. Like I said, you’re in my territory,” she sneered, walking from her chair to Aiden. “Don’t tell me you’re scared.”

Aiden was quiet for a moment before answering, “Fine, I don’t mind playing your game.”

“Good, I’ll have someone escort you back. I trust you won’t say anything to anyone. If I find out that you try to leave, I’ll make sure to catch you and break your legs.”

“Wouldn’t dream of it,” Aidne retorted.

When he left, Valentina asked the system, Do you think he can win?
