Chapter 2: Auction

It took an hour for Ember to settle down. An hour!

She refused to admit that she was having a tantrum.

Ember grumbled about the system being unfair. She doesn’t know anywhere in this world. The book- this world- isn’t a place she is familiar with. If push comes to shove, she will have to ask her brother. But first, she needs to survive the kiss situation.

She really hopes he won’t chop her head off.

Remembering the auction Aiden mentioned, she decided not to think about it. She would just get ready and see what happens. There isn’t a time limit anyway.

She spent the next two hours getting ready. She gave herself a rose scented bath, curled her hair, did her make-up, and now she just needed to put on the dress.

Honestly, that was the hardest part of all this.

Maybe because she was thinking about what he might like. Ever since that kiss mission, she had been thinking about how to do it.

The problem is that every time she thinks about how to do it, she ends up falling under the spell of her own imagination. She kept imagining him ripping off everything she wore.

Finally, she decided on a black dress. Nothing too revealing. A nice knee-length off-the-shoulder black dress. Which just so happened to show all her boobiliciousness. Not that she had a choice, these gravity defying tits were all about presence.

Walking downstairs, she found him waiting for her.

When he saw her, he stood up. His eyes raked over her body in what she swore could have been a possessive glance. But it was gone so quickly she couldn’t be sure.

Internally, she shook her head. There was no way the brother who had taken care of her wanted her. Not as a sister but as a woman. She wouldn’t hold on to such hopes.

She walked up to him, and her heart couldn’t help but skip a beat. He looked at her as if she were the only woman in the world. Those eyes looked like they wanted to sweep her back up to the room and throw her on the bed.

At least, that’s what her mind told her.

She could feel her core tightening. Suddenly, she wasn’t so sure about not wearing underwear.

Chastising herself, she told herself to get a grip. This man doesn’t want her. No matter how much she wants him, she only needs to be his sister. That’s enough.

“You look beautiful, little sister.”

That was a sucker punch. Yes, she was his little sister. Nothing more than that.

She smiled, “You really think so?”

She did a little twirl.

“Definitely,” he said, as he placed a stray hair behind her ear.

She had to clutch her bag to stop herself from caressing his face.

“We’ll since we’re both ready, let’s go. Tonight you have to buy me whatever I want.”

They walked out the door and into the evening air. The car was waiting just past the gate.

She hummed and wiggled as she walked, listening to whatever music was playing in her head.

The system said this was her past life, so she didn’t bother acting. If it were really her past life, then she should be about the same. No need to pretend and be tense, just go with the flow. If something goes wrong…fuck it.
