Chapter 13: Ian’s Cards
“Hmmm… There’s something wrong.” Garry looked at Ian. Now that he thinks about it. He realized that Ian had the blood quality of a lesser vampire yet his body size was just a little shorter than a true vampire. This made Garry unable to figure it out. ‘What the hell? What is he? A lesser vampire or a true vampire? Or did he experience some kind of mutation as a lesser vampire?’
‘If I didn’t have the special ability to determine the quality of blood. I would have mistaken him for a true vampire…’ Suddenly, Garry’s expression turned serious. ‘No, I must eliminate him now or he’ll become a future threat to our race. In the lesser realm, he already has this kind of abnormal body. What’s more, if he really becomes a true vampire? Or even a higher vampire? Won’t the sky limit his limit by then?’
At this moment, Ian didn’t know that he was targeted by Garry, significantly reducing the possibility of him underestimating him.
After all, one can’t really blame Garry as Ian was really abnormal as a vampire due to his body customization system.
“Be careful, the Walking Flare seems to have his sight on you.” Barseagle reminded. “Although I don’t know why. You must stay vigilant, okay?” He looked at Ian once more.
Hearing this, Daniel, Kate, and Liz became worried for their friend. However, they are also powerless against true vampires. Now, they can only hope that their captain would somehow manage to hold Garry, the Walking Flare.
“Got it.” Ian simply nodded.
…
“I’ll be responsible for Barseagle. You two focus on that giant vampire beside him. As for the three others, ignore those wastes. They’re just lesser beings.”
Garry fave his command.
“Yes, sir!”
Garry smirked. Then, with a large stride, he went to Barseagle.
The two true werewolves set their sights upon Ian. “Kill!”
Surrounded by the two, Ian just looked at them expressionless. They’re a little bigger than him, but not something that he can’t manage.
The two let go of their human form, transforming into werewolves in a swift transition; fur gradually grew on their skin, covering their entire forearm and face. The dark fur had a silver sheen on it. Their red eyes lit like two blazing fires.
“You’re dead!”
With a wild stride, he went to Ian’s left side while the other positioned himself to Ian’s right, effectively flanking him on both sides.
This time, Ian felt the pressure. Just one mistake would cost him a lot. He doesn’t have much biomass spare to replace any limbs that might get severed in this battle. He could only rely on his vampiric healing factor.
Suddenly, one of them hurled his claws at Ian, producing a whooshing sound in the air.
‘They’re indeed bigger than me but their bodies aren’t designed for speed. I can do it! I’m significantly faster than them!’
Ian’s eyes lit up as he realized the pitiful attack speed at this moment.
With a back pivot, the claws couldn’t even graze him. Just as Ian was about to take the counter opportunity. The one on the right attempted to strike him with his claws, aimed at his face.
Ian quickly jumped back. Unfortunately, they managed to reposition themselves. ‘They’re a lot more experienced than the ones before.’ he couldn’t help but click his tongue in annoyance.
Suddenly, the two simultaneously charged at him with their claws reflecting the blood-red sky.
Ian engaged with them, using his speed to his advantage; he parried their attacks one after another.
“Damn, he’s fast!”
The werewolf swung his claws at Ian once again, only for Ian to move his huge body quickly by a few inches skillfully. “What’s the matter?” A question mark appeared on his face.
“How can he move like that with similar huge body?”
“Don’t worry this bastard won’t be able to dodge forever!!!”
After a few minutes of high-speed engagement, a few attacks landed on Ian’s exoskeleton armor. True to its durability, the claws could, at most, go a few inches but couldn’t go any deeper.
On Ian’s armor, scratches and cuts could be seen. He deliberately tanked some of the hard-to-avoid attacks to protect his vital points.
HUFF HUFF
The two werewolves breathed heavily. They expended a lot more energy than Ian as they were on the offensive. After continued high-speed attacks, they gradually slowed down, and each of their attacks became more laborious.
Ian noticed this. He smirked right in front of them. “I can still fight for three days and three nights!”
“Don’t be arrogant!”
Offended, one of the reroutes himself appeared behind Ian with a cruel gleam in his eyes. His foot moved in an arch and explosively dug towards Ian’s left.
Ian felt the brunt of the force through his armor. This time, he didn’t retreat. He took the attacker’s foot and ruthlessly pulled it.
The werewolf lost his balance. The claws on Ian’s hand pop out, and with ruthless precision, his bone claws dug deep into the head of the werewolf, penetrating deep into his sinus.
“T-this…” As he saw his companion’s lifeless body, the werewolf was astounded; his face changed to fear.
He pointed at Ian. “Y-you are abnormal!”
First, it was the weird exoskeleton armor that prevented them from dealing damage to him. Now, bone claws suddenly appeared on his hands.
Is he really fighting a vampire? Aren’t vampires supposed to use their nails and fists to fight? What’s up with claws? The picture isn’t right!
‘Damn it! He deliberately did not use those bone claws to catch us in surprise!’
The werewolf watched as blood dripped continuously the Ian’s bone claws. “Heh,” he licked his tongue, and his confidence came back. “You just caught us off guard. Now that I know you’re trump card. Don’t think that you will necessarily win!”
As he said this, it emboldened his courage even further and he rushed towards Ian with ferocity.
Ian shook his head. Following that, their claws collided with each other. The werewolf squinted, as he was about to open his mouth, his eyes widened. He coughed out blood.
He looked down at his chest and saw a sharp tail that had completely penetrated his heart. “I-i… Just how many cards do you have on your sleeves?” just like that, he fell down, gradually feeling his life fading.
The werewolf died with a grievance. First an exoskeleton armor. Second, a pair of retractable bone claws caught them in surprise. It’s not over yet… The enemy still have a lethal tail? What kind of vampire has a tail!?
