Chapter 87: Chapter 87
Ye Jun
I slammed the front door behind me harder than I meant to, but honestly, who cared at this point? My ass was still on fire from that fresh tattoo Si Woo had basically branded on me like I was his personal property tag, and now I had to walk back into the house like everything was normal.
Mom was already in the living room pouring tea for Lisa like this was some kind of fancy get-together, and Dad was sprawled on the couch with that look on his face, the one he gets when he knows something good is coming for the family business. Si Woo stood right there with his arm halfway around Lisa’s shoulders, laughing at whatever she was saying about her flight, and I swear my stomach twisted so tight I thought I might actually throw up on the carpet right then.
“Ye Jun, honey, you’re back,” Mom called out, waving me over like I had not just walked in looking like I had been through a war zone. “Come sit. Lisa was just telling us how she and Si Woo grew up together. Childhood friends, can you believe it? Our families have been planning this for years.”
I stopped dead in the middle of the room, my hoodie zipped all the way up to my chin so nobody would spot the collar still digging into my neck like it wanted to remind me every second that I belonged to him. “Planning what, exactly?” I shot back. My voice came out way sharper than I planned, but I could not help it. I looked straight at Si Woo, and the guy was smirking.
Actually smirking, one eyebrow up like the whole thing was the best entertainment he had seen all day. “Yeah, Ye Jun,” he said, his voice all smooth and easy like he was not destroying me from the inside. “Lisa and I basically shared the same crib. Our dads always joked we would end up together someday. Looks like it is finally happening soon, right? Wedding plans are already rolling.”
My mouth went dry and my hands started shaking at my sides because wedding. They were talking about a wedding like it was no big deal, and he was standing there enjoying it way too much, his eyes practically sparkling while he kept that arm around her. I could feel the tattoo burning hotter on my ass every time I shifted my weight, his name right there above it in black ink that was never coming off. I had let him do it. I had cried and begged and said yes while he edged me until I could not think straight. Now here he was acting like I was nothing, and his perfect childhood-friend-future-wife was smiling at him all sweet and idol-perfect like she belonged there.
“You are kidding, right?” I muttered, but it came out louder, sarcastic as hell because that was the only way I could keep from yelling. “Childhood friends? Wedding soon? That is cute. Really cute, Si Woo. Especially after everything today. You know, the whole… you pulled earlier? Real romantic when you have got a wife lined up.”
Lisa blinked at me, all innocent like she had no idea what I was even talking about. “Oh, did I miss something? Si Woo oppa, you did not tell me you and Ye Jun had plans today.”
Si Woo just chuckled, low and easy like my words bounced right off him, and he pulled Lisa a little closer, his hand sitting on her waist like it was the most normal thing in the world. “Nah, nothing big,” he said. “Ye Jun and I just hung out. He is always dramatic like this.”
Dramatic. I wanted to scream in his face. I had his name permanently on my ass because he could not stand the idea of anyone else even looking at me, and now he was grinning like the marriage announcement was the funniest part of his day.
Dad cleared his throat, and that smirk on his face got even wider like he was loving every second of this. “Ye Jun, you did not know? Lisa has been Si Woo’s match since they were kids. Business ties, family ties, perfect really. You should be happy for them, son.”
This isn’t the first time dad brought up marrying him to some girl. So I hoped like all the others this will fade too. There was a time it was chairman Park’s daughter.
Happy. I was about two seconds from losing my mind right there, my chest tight and my eyes stinging because this was it. This was the end. Si Woo had his perfect life all mapped out, and I was just the side piece he had marked up for fun. I opened my mouth to snap something back, something about how he had just tattooed his name on me like I was cattle and now this, but the doorbell rang and cut me off before I could even get the words out.
Mom went to answer it, and in walked Ohm, tall and built like he could pick up the whole couch if he wanted, with that easy grin he always had. I had never been so happy to see anyone in my entire life. My heart did this stupid little flip, not because of him exactly, but because anything, anything was better than standing here watching Si Woo enjoy his perfect future like I did not exist.
“Ohm!” I said, way too loud, stepping forward before anyone could stop me. He pulled me into a hug right there in the doorway, arms wrapping around me tight. I hugged back harder than I should have, burying my face in his shoulder for a second just to breathe. Over his shoulder I caught Dad’s face, that smirk stretching even bigger like he had just won the lottery or something. What the hell was that about?
“Hey, Ye Jun,” Ohm said, his voice warm against my ear. “I Missed you, man. You free? Thought we could grab some food or something, get out of here for a bit.”
Before I could even answer, Dad jumped in, clapping Ohm on the shoulder like they were old buddies. “Yes, yes! What is better? Take him out, Ohm. Ye Jun could use some fresh air. Go on, son. Have fun.”
