Chapter 134: Powering up
Ray’s eyes were brimming with excitement.
The Familiar Creation skill was just too damn overwhelming. He could already think of several ways it could be used to his advantage.
Without hesitation, he used it to transform all the notable figures under his command into his familiars.
From Muri, Fairy Trixie, Jax to the Generals and the Bronze Rank hunters of the Serpent Tribe, all were turned into his Familiars one by one.
It took some time, as his Soul Force wasn’t infinite.
Even with Fairy Trixie’s passive skill at play, his maximum soul force capacity was capped at 209.43 units, and he could recover roughly 297 units of Soul Force per hour as his magic power recovery rate was 83 units per second and his soul could convert a thousand units of magic power into soul force with its radiation quite rapidly.
Each use of the Familiar Creation skill required 100 units. So it took him a couple of hours to turn them into his familiar. But it had its fair share of benefits. So it was well worth it.
Being able to communicate with his familiars and share senses with them no matter the distance was a game-changer as it meant could extend his presence across entire realms through them.
His familiars could now act as his scouts, informants, and enforcers—his eyes to observe, his ears to listen, and his hands to act in his stead. Every one of them was now a living extension of his will!!!
But what truly elevated the skill’s worth was his newfound ability to warg into them, to directly seize control of their bodies for a short duration, meaning he could be anywhere, fight anywhere, and command from the frontlines without ever leaving his seat.
He didn’t yet know if his own skills could manifest through their bodies, but if that turned out to be the case, it could be the difference between life and death. It would mean he could intervene in the heat of battle, shielding his familiars from fatal blows, turning certain death into victory. It was, in every sense, the perfect web of control and protection.
“It’s saddening that I still can’t use the Pact of Equivalent Exchange to gain Extra Lives.”
Ray could only sigh.
The Pact of Equivalent Exchange required a thousand units of Soul Force to activate.
His original soul force capacity was 161.1 units. The boost provided by Fairy Trixie’s Mana Infusion passive skill that increased his MP storage by 30% pushed it to 209.43 units.
As things stands, he couldn’t use it even if he wanted to.
Suddenly.
Ray felt a burning urge to devour the Heavenly Moon Ginseng. After all, breaking through to the Peak of the Bronze Rank would triple his Soul Force capacity, pushing it up to 483.3 units.
Then, breaking through to the Silver Rank would multiply it by four, raising his maximum Soul Force capacity to over one thousand units.
“But breaking through to the advanced stage of the Bronze Rank has made it possible for me to refine a living weapon. So there’s at least something to look forward to.”
The Living Weapons Refinement skill wasn’t as broken as the the Pact of the Equivalent Exchange, but it was overpowered in its own right as it allowed him to create a weapon that could grow with him. He could also repair it once it was damaged using his soul force, meaning he would never need to search for another weapon once he had forged a living weapon.
However, the limitation of this skill was also quite clear.
He could only have one Living Weapon at a time.
Ray considered his options.
Out of all the equipment he possessed, the most sturdy and enigmatic one was undoubtedly the Warhammer obtained from killing the Mad Chieftain. If he were to refine it into a living weapon, it would undoubtedly serve his best interests. He decided to do just that.
[-100 SF]
[You have refined a Runic Weapon into a Living Weapon.]
[Your Living Weapon possesses two forms.]
[Form 1: Skull Crusher]
A warhammer forged from the fused essence of rage and resilience. Grants +5 Strength and enhances the destructive power of all physical attacks by 50%. You can channel all your skills through it while in direct contact with the weapon, amplifying their impact and force output.
[Form 2: Soul Flayer]
The awakened form of Skull Crusher, manifesting when called upon. In this form, it can levitate and strike autonomously, responding instantly to your thoughts even at great distances. Grants +7 Agility and refills half of your SP upon activation. Can only be unleashed once per day, at the cost of 100 Soul Force.
[Your Living Weapon can now be stored within your Niwan Palace.]
[Once stored, it can be summoned or equipped instantly through mental command.]
[While resting within your Niwan Palace, it will bask in the radiation of your soul, steadily growing stronger.]
[If damaged, it can be restored by submerging it in your Soul Force.]
The things that weren’t said, Ray already knew about them. It was in the name of the weapon.
He didn’t need a notification to tell him that the stronger his soul became, the more intense its radiation would grow, and the longer his Living Weapon bathed in it, the more terrifying its strength would become.
Ray’s thoughts shifted to the experience points he possessed. It was time to put them to good use.
He began with Muri.
[-500000 EXP]
[The Metal King Slime has leveled up.]
[The Metal King Slime has reached Bronze Rank 2!]
Ray immediately checked how much it would cost to level it up again.
[EXP Required to Level Up: 750000]
A thoughtful glint flashed in his eyes.
’I have around 1.5 million experience points left. My Soul Force capacity is stable enough to maintain the soul link that binds him to me. I can afford to level him up again.’
[-750000 EXP]
[The Metal King Slime has leveled up.]
[The Metal King Slime has reached Bronze Rank 3!]
Now its stats were as follows:
[Name: Muri]
[Race: Demonic Monster]
[Rank: King Type Bronze Rank 3]
[EXP Required to Level Up: 1000000]
[Strength: 60]
[Agility: 40]
[Stamina: 40]
[Soul Quality: 405]
[Magic Power: 40500]
[Skills: Solidification, The King’s Aura, Metal Magic, Devour, Mimic (Semi-Divine)]
To level it up again, a full 1,000,000 EXP was required, which was more than what he currently had.
However, leveling up Trixie to Silver Rank would only cost 750,000 EXP.
Ray had always wanted a Silver Rank subordinate.
So, he quickly made his decision and poured his remaining experience points into her.
[-750000 EXP]
[Your Contracted Spirit “Fairy Trixie” has leveled up!]
[Fairy Trixie has reached Silver Rank 4!]
[She has gained a silver soul!]
[She have unlocked a special Trait!]
[Her power is evolving in response to the huge changes her soul have undergone.]
[The radiation of her soul is improving her body rapidly and also upgrading all her innate powers!]
A radiant light engulfed Trixie as her wings shimmered, changing colour to a dazzling silver. Streams of magic surrounded her tiny body, forming runes of light that danced around her like falling feathers.
More notifications popped up.
[The changes Fairy Trixie’s skills have undergone are mentioned as follow!]
[1. Healing Glow → Radiant Restoration]
Creates a healing field that continuously restores 8% of the target’s total HP every second for 10 seconds. The effect can extend to up to 3 allies within range.
Cost: 15 SF per target.
[2. Stamina Restoration Spell → Vital Rejuvenation]
Instantly restores 25 units of stamina per cast. If the target’s stamina is below 20%, the restored amount doubles.
Cost: 20 SF per use
[3. Blessing of Light → Divine Empowerment]
Temporarily increases all physical stats of the target by 50% and magical efficiency by 25% for 45 seconds. Also grants immunity to weak curses during its duration.
Cost: 70 SF per use.
4. Mana Infusion (Passive) → Arcane Conduit (Passive)
Increases her master’s total Soul Force capacity by 50% and regeneration rate by 20%.
Cost: None.
Trixie floated before Ray, eyes wide with disbelief and wonder. Her silver hair glowed faintly as her wings fluttered faster than ever.
“Master, how did you do that?” she asked, voice full of amazement. “I suddenly feel… so much stronger! All you did was press the air a few times, and then—bam!—my entire body feels like it’s overflowing with power!”
Ray smiled faintly. “I have the ability to strengthen myself and my battle companions once certain conditions are met.”
Ray shared this secret because he trusted her as she had come to him willingly.
Trixie gasped softly, her small hands clasping together. “That’s incredible!”
“This stays between us. Don’t mention it to anyone.”
Her glowing eyes softened, and she nodded seriously. “Such an important thing… I wouldn’t tell a single soul without your permission, Master.”
Ray’s expression eased into satisfaction. “Good. That’s what I wanted to hear.”
Trixie floated closer and smiled brightly.
