Chapter 109: 109 Library.
Time passed calmly as the sun hung high, casting sharp shadows across the training field. Warm light shimmered in the air, enveloping the entire field with lazy waves.
Several bodies of students who were soaked in sweat, sprawled on the side, looking at the middle. Two figures stood imposingly, holding bokuto in each hand.
A moment of silence stilled the tension between them. Both clenched the hilt tightly with veins bulging on their hand.
They took a step firmly, and another step, then the clash began.
Silvia’s silver hair danced along her intense movement, thrusting her bokuto straight at Jin’s chest.
Jin raised his bokuto to deflect the thrust and launched a sweeping attack, which she dodged by leaping back.
Simultaneously, their shadows blurred and clashed head-on in intense heat. Jin, with his sharp and calculative move, relentlessly rained down an attack on the defensive Silvia.
The girl gritted her teeth, she tried to hold on, but her exhausted body betrayed her thoughts.
Each time she inhaled, Silvia felt her insides were burning with intense flame. The bruise on her body throbbed with intense pain that electrified her nerves.
However, despite her adversary, her eyes were clear like the ocean. It reflected Jin’s every movement like a mirror.
A continuous ’clack’ as the two swords clashed rang in her ears like a distant echo. The smell of sweat from their intense spar and the wind that caressed her skin kept the girl pushing herself further.
One step at a time, she consistently tries to reach the unseen summit covered by the thick fog above her, where his shadows stand.
’I’m still standing’. Silvia saw a chance, deflected Jin’s attack with minimal movement, and his stance crumbled.
’Now!’. Silvia stomped the ground hard and swung her bokuto diagonally from her bottom left.
However, Silvia’s azure eyes were shaken by the unexpected response from the boy. Silvia watched as his lips parted.
In one fluid movement, Jin’s crumbling stance rustled the ground beneath hard, then pivoted by slipping past her side and placing his bokuto next to her neck.
Silvia stopped midway, still holding her bokuto pointed upward. Once her mind accepted the defeat, her feet turned soft as strength left her body.
She flopped to the field, making a bit of rustling noise. Her pounding heart still pumped much blood to her body, keeping the tension lingering for a while.
“You have grown, Silvia”.
A shadow loomed over her, casting a gentle cover from the direct sunlight. She lifted her gaze and watched the boy with a smile plastered on his face.
Another emotion was contained within, proud of her growth in learning the swordsmanship he taught.
A fuzzy emotion swelled on her chest, sending heat to her cheeks. “Thank you, but I’m still far from reaching you”.
Silvia looked down toward her bokuto, the weight that settled on her hand became a reminder that she needed to train more.
“Settle down, you have your own pace”. Jin placed a hand on the girl’s head, patting it tenderly. “Don’t force yourself, it will only tire you out unnecessarily”.
“Um, thank you, Jin”. Silvia nodded and closed her eyes, enjoying the comfort of warmth on her head.
A round of footsteps approached her. Silvia looked to the source and found Iris and Lucya, who hid a smirk behind their palm.
There was also Lily, who blinked several times, looking at their situation. ’It’s such a waste, but I can ask him to pamper me for the last’.
“Jin?”. Silvia stored her bokuto and spread her hands wide, facing Jin, who flinched with a blank face.
“Okay, it’s time to wake up, princess”. Iris grumbles, her voice laced with exasperation.
She came behind Silvia, wrapped her hands around her waist, and lifted her.
“Lily, please”.
Lucya turned to Lily, who snapped from her daze and cast a golden light from her palms, bathing their figures.
Silvia’s brow furrowed as she felt a stinging pain in the area where there were bruises. Her sticky uniform loosened, and she could feel all the moisture around her body had been squeezed dry.
“What is this?”.
Silvia turned to Lily, who exhaled in relief after casting one of her spells.
“It was just a simple spell from Light Elemental Magic Purify”.
“I see, thank you, Lily”. Jin muttered, and all eyes around her turned to him. “Silvia, you and the other can go to the cafeteria first, and don’t bother to go to a class later. I will talk with that carefree teacher”.
“What about you?”.
“I have some places to visit first”.
“Where is it?”.
“Library”.
After he said his piece, Jin turned around, ignoring three pairs of eyes that watched his retreating figure.
Silvia and Iris exchanged glances before turning to Lucya, who kept a bit of distance between them.
“Lucya, what about you?”. Silvia asked, wondering if the princess would join their group for lunch.
“Ah, sorry, but I have something to do in the library, so I will join Jin for a bit, then follow behind you guys”.
Without minding their reply, Lucya strode off from the group, leaving only Silvia, Iris, and Lily, who exchanged glances.
“How about you, Lily?”. Iris asked, her sharp green eyes seemed to have infiltrated the pink-haired girl’s soul.
“I don’t mind, but can I invite Leon too?”. Lily scratched her cheek with a flush on her cheeks.
“Go ahead”.
“I don’t mind”.
Silvia and Iris overlapped and the three stilled, enveloped by the awkward tension between them, before bursting into small giggles.
***
“Sure, I don’t mind. We can start our academic study tomorrow”. Dannan nodded.
He stared at the boy before him with eyes filled with gratitude. The boy exhaled and walked away, leaving the man with lingering respect.
Jin, who planned to go toward the library, stopped midway and turned his head back to ask.
“Do you have a guidebook in this academy?”.
“Guidebook?”. Dannan rubbed his chin, but soon his eyes flashed. “I forgot about those things”.
Dannan flicked his fingers, and a small book that fit Jin’s palm was stacked in his hand. The man took one of them and tossed it to Jin.
“Thanks”. Jin snatched the book and resumed walking, onward to the library.
“Wait for me!”. A melodious voice halted Jin’s step as he looked back and saw Lucya running toward him. “Oh, I will be taking this teacher”.
The girl didn’t forget to grab one of the guidebooks and stood beside Jin with erratic breath. She inhaled deeply, trying to regulate her pounding heart.
“Lucia, why are you here?”. Jin said, his brows raised in wonder.
“I have something in the Library too, so I decided to join you before going to the cafeteria”.
Lucya met Jin’s gaze, and a moment of silence enveloped both of them. Jin shrugged his shoulders, then continued his walk while flipping the guidebook in his hand.
The girl parted her lips in a smile and followed next to him, walking through the corridor that guided them toward the building.
Before entering, the two stopped near the door. They infused their shoes with mana and saw the dirt peel off itself, which pleased them.
As they passed the door, entering the branched hallways. Jin took a right, following the guide in his hand.
“Right, Jin, can I ask you something?”. Lucya chirped. Her tone was light and filled with her usual trait.
“Go ahead?”. Jin shifted his attention and gaze into her large blue eyes that sucked him.
“What’s your purpose in going to the library? You are already smart enough to need it?”.
“What kind of question is that?”.
“Nothing, just curious, that’s all?”.
Jin knitted his brows, his brain still processing the sudden question Lucya threw at him. He looked ahead and opened his mouth.
“I’m still lacking in many areas”.
“What area?”.
“Well,…”.
He started to ramble about one of the examples when he was in his adventurous activity. Jin still lacked knowledge of herbs, beasts, monster habitats, and ranks.
His understanding of this world’s common sense, despite having lived in this world for fourteen years, nearly reached fifteen in several weeks.
Then, there was also the matter of God and Goddess in this world that still lived on top of Mount Olympia in the West.
But, of course, Jin didn’t disclose the truth and kept it hidden.
“And I just like reading a story”. Jin dodges the matter that begins to intrigue him, the truth regarding Olympia.
When Jin read the book back then, he thought it was simply a heroic story of Ares breaking the never-ending Curse that the Ancient God Uranus cast upon the Olympian Throne.
However, after entering that Trial Dungeon and training for centuries, Athena and Artemis, who hate their brother Ares’ guts.
Jin’s self-awareness started to take shape and pulled him toward searching many sources for any information he could get, and if possible, A way to enter the Tartaros.
“We arrived”. Lucya’s bell-like voice snapped Jin from his daze, and he looked ahead.
A tall door made from wood. It had a simple design with a metal plate that hung above its frame, which said, ’Library’.
“Let’s enter”. Jin pushed the door, letting the light inside breach through the dimmed hallway.
