“Thank you, Mrs”. Lily took her portion of food and pushed the large bowl of beef stew toward Allen, who gulped upon seeing it.

“Enjoy your lunch”. The woman said with a smile, watching the group wander to search for an empty table.

Silvia and Iris, who walked in front, looked around until they found an empty spot in the corner. A bright sunlight spilled through the glass of the cafeteria window, painting the long wooden table in gold.

They took a seat together with Silvia and Iris. Opposite them, Lily and Allen flopped on the seat, placing their food on the table.

Iris glanced at the group and said. “Let’s eat”.

The laughter in the place was gone, as the group huddled in the corner, focused on their food.

Silvia and Iris wiped their lips with their thumbs. As for Lily, she clasped her hands together in deep prayer, leaving Allen, whose expression turned blue while patting his bloated belly.
