Chapter 91: Jamie’s Funeral
3 and a half years ago
The World of the Living
A lot of people had gathered in the cemetery. They were of different ages—some looked old while others appeared to be high school students—but each and every one of them wore black clothes from head to toe.
Journalists streamed every action live, capturing the entire event as people stepped forward to give speeches about the occasion.
It was the burial day of what the media outlets called the death of a hero.
Jamie Noter, a high school kid, didn’t even think twice when he saw a pregnant woman in danger. He jumped toward her, pushing her out of the path of death just as it rushed forward to claim her. Those actions alone had drawn the attention of countless media outlets.
His white casket stood closed, their country’s flag laid neatly on top of it—the usual blue color with white lines and the eagle symbol that made the flag look complete and properly designed.
Near the casket was a picture of Jamie’s face, a photo his dad had taken on Jamie’s first day of high school. Behind it was a long narrow grave, the final resting place prepared for the young hero.
“Without further ado Lemme invite Jamie’s father on the podium”
The pastor spoke in a cunning tone that made the ceremony feel even more important than it already was.
A man slowly rose from the front seats. His hair was messy and unpolished, and his eyes looked swollen from crying all night.
His wife—Jamie’s mother—had died seven years ago, so no one sat beside him except Jamie’s girlfriend, who kept crying while her schoolmates tried to comfort her.
All cameras turned toward Jamie’s father.
He looked like an older version of Jamie. The only difference was the medical glasses he wore, his eyes weakened after years of studying to become a medical doctor.
After Jamie had been hit by the truck, he tried everything to save his only child. Every medical technique he had ever learned, every desperate method from the books of saving lives—but he failed terribly.
He felt as if the universe had given him the intelligence to save anyone who came to him… except for his own son.
The only person who truly mattered.
“Ahm”
Jamie’s father hesitated. Words tried to escape his mouth, but emotion choked them before they could form.
“Jamie was aspecial child, I know every-parent sees their children as special but I knew something was different about since his birth. He wanted to save another people and do his very best to accomplish that.Am just sad that It took giving jis life away for all you people to see it ”
Those words sank deep into everyone’s hearts.
Even the camerawoman started sobbing quietly, quickly wiping the tears from her eyes so no one would notice.
Suddenly Jamie’s father began crying into the microphone.
“No I can’t take this, I can’t speak anymore ”
He stepped away from the temporary podium as two suited men who looked like bodyguards escorted him away.
The entire world watched the ceremony as it continued, either through their phones or televisions. It was the hottest event since the story of a boy from the poor side of the city who had nearly drowned trying to save a kid from drowning.
Bray.
The woman Jamie had died saving sat in the front row as well. She cried so hard that people around her struggled to calm her down.
A little boy had saved her life.
And not only that—his sacrifice had completely changed her future.
It turned out that on the day she had almost been hit by the truck, she had been running away from dangerous people. Powerful criminal organizations that, after the accident, were forced into the spotlight. Their activities were exposed to such an extent that even corrupt officials couldn’t cover them up anymore.
After months of investigations and legal battles, the woman ended up receiving one billion dollars in compensation, placing her among the richest people attending the funeral.
So if someone looked at it from another perspective, her prosperity had started with Jamie’s sacrifice.
That was why she honored the deceased by paying for his funeral and donating 500 million dollars to Jamie’s father.
He refused it.
He insisted that he wanted to continue living a normal life.
But at the peak of everything, the unborn baby she carried—a boy—would be named Jamie.
A name that now carried deep meaning.
As the events unfolded, many people connected to Jamie watched as well. Some had been forced to forget about Midworld—people like Bray, who still hailed Jamie as a hero.
And Jamie himself watched the entire event from ASTRO, where his training had just begun.
After a full hour of speeches from friends and others who claimed they cared, the casket was finally lowered into the ground and buried, marking the end of the funeral.
The media quickly moved on, chasing other stories that seemed more exciting.
The crowd slowly dispersed.
Leaving behind only a lonely father.
And now in the present…
The pregnant woman Jamie had desperately tried to save had gone missing.
She disappeared with all her money, her possessions, and even the media attention—just like the criminal organizations that had vanished after being exposed.
Jamie’s father died three months ago.
There was no sickness. No injury.
The doctors who examined him said he died from a mental illness they believed was caused by depression.
Jamie’s girlfriend…
She moved on after two weeks.
She had been surrounded by so much fame and sympathy that it inflated her ego. She started seeing herself differently, chasing the attention of famous boys so she could maintain the popularity she had gained.
She dated countless boys after that.
Boom!!
A massive wave of magical energy suddenly spread across the entire Earth, sweeping over the world like an invisible storm.
It cleansed the minds of every Genki on the planet.
Those hiding in forests.
Those roaming through cities.
Those endlessly searching for traces of demonic aura.
Every single one of them.
Just as Zuba, the champion of the Genkis, had programmed it.
After their minds were cleansed of the corrupted command, their expressions changed completely. They looked calmer now—almost peaceful—no longer like the terrifying creatures people once feared.
“It’s done now my lord!”
Zuba reported to the man who had defeated him without mercy.
The group still stood on Mount Everest.
Sandra.
Kasa.
The chief.
Zuba, the champion.
And finally… Jamie.
“Dont call me that, I don’t like it even one bit. From now on your going toanswer to your chief. And if anyone else bothers you in the future, come and find me ”
With those words, Jamie had just formed an alliance with the Genkis.
A decision that was powerful in terms of military strength—but extremely risky in the eyes of the demon world.
A race that had slaughtered demons mercilessly was now working beside them.
It was a dangerous idea that required careful thought.
And Jamie knew that better than anyone.
But he still chose to move forward with it.
If he could work with Sandra—an elf—perhaps he could also build trust with the Genkis.
“Men am glad we are finally done with the genkis, they pushed us back incredibly ”
Bray celebrated, resting his arm playfully on Sandra’s shoulders.
Sandra immediately pushed it off.
“But their is something I wanted you to do for me ”
“Just mention it, everything you want sire ”
“Lemme get this straight first, was being able to track demons your ability or the goddesses ability?”
“Our ability,,,why did you ask ”
“I want you to tell any genki to locate the reaming demons and tell us their locations and this next point is very crucial. No genki is allowed to engage with each one of them ”
Brilliant.
That way we can move quickly during the first stage.
Kasa thought to himself, his doubts about the Genkis slowly fading.
Maybe Jamie had planned this all along.
“Bray and Sandra,,, go with the chief and get the demon children to lead you to their families!”
“So how do we get then to the teleporting machine ”
Sandra asked, sounding like someone who had lived among demons for centuries.
But she was right.
None of them had the ability to teleport.
“We are walking against time, and if we are late we are going to compromise the mission. So We will collect them in one phase,, I have a techniqueI can use to teleport, , but I can only teleprt my clones and other demons.. I will make 300 clones, each will follow where the genkis have found the demons. And after we gather them all, we will teleprt them waves if the number is good”
Surprise filled the air.
Jamie spoke about cloning and teleportation as if it were the most ordinary thing in the world.
But after everything they had seen him do, none of them doubted his power.
Except for kasa.
Kasa looked at Jamie quietly, a heavy expression forming on his face.
He’s not telling the full truth. I’ve never seen him use teleportation before, so it must be a technique hidden inside that eighty percent of power he still can’t access. He once said he keeps his power sealed so he won’t awaken that dark form… which means this will definitely hurt him.
Yet he still tries to keep a positive face in front of everyone.
And to think that he was born a demon.
He really is unbelievable.
Kasa sighed quietly.
But time was running out.
Everyone quickly rushed to their positions.
Leaving Jamie and Zuba standing on the frozen peak of Mount Everest.
Overseeing the entire operation.
