[TIME REMAINING: 23 HOURS, 14 MINUTES] [STATUS: CRITICAL FAILURE IMMINENT]

Nikki woke up staring at the text floating above her face.

It was a threat.

She closed her eyes once more, not wanting to look.

[There is one more thing.]

Nikki cracked one eye open. A smaller, golden window popped up.

[EVENT COMPLETE: “MINE”]

[ACHIEVEMENT: TRIGGERED POSSESSIVENESS PROTOCOL]

[REWARD: 500 CREDITS + A VERY ANGRY ROBOT]

“Five hundred?” Nikki sat up, brushing her messy hair out of her face. That bought her some food, maybe a week of rent in a Tier 2 slum.

But it didn’t solve the main problem. The Main Quest was still active, and the penalty for failure was an “Account Wipe.” That meant losing everything.

She looked through the glass wall.

A-01 was there. Of course he was. He was standing at his massive desk, his back to her, manipulating a complex 3D map of the city’s water filtration system. He looked calm. Composed.

Nikki narrowed her eyes. Direct seduction failed. Jealousy worked but nearly got B-02 dismantled. She needed a new angle. Something that appealed to his massive, arrogant logic processor.

“He likes to be right,” she whispered to herself. “He likes to correct me.”

She climbed out of bed. She didn’t bother changing into the tight silver suit. Instead, she stayed in the oversized gray t-shirt she’d stolen from his wardrobe. It hung off one shoulder, and the hem ended mid-thigh. It was comfortable, innocent, and, if she sat the right way, dangerous.

She marched out of the glass room and into the office.

A-01 didn’t turn around. “You are awake. Your sleep cycle was 42 minutes shorter than optimal.”

“I couldn’t sleep,” Nikki said, walking straight toward him.

She walked right up to where he was working, hopped up, and sat directly on top of his mahogany desk, scattering a few holographic projections with her thighs.

A-01 paused. He slowly lowered his hands. The map flickered and vanished.

He looked at her, sitting on his workspace, bare legs dangling, wearing his shirt.

“Get off the desk, Nikki,” he said, his voice flat. “That surface is for global administration, not for your gluteal muscles.”

“I have a request,” Nikki said, crossing her legs at the ankles and leaning back on her hands. She gave him her best wide-eyed, innocent look. “Since I’m your ’specimen’ and all.”

A-01 sighed, a sound that was becoming increasingly human. He stepped between her legs to reach a datapad behind her, effectively trapping her on the edge of the desk.

“State it,” he murmured, not moving away.

“You said I was clueless,” Nikki began, tracing a pattern on the wood with her finger. “I didn’t know the difference between theory and reality. You said I wouldn’t even know where to start.”

She looked up at him through her lashes.

“So… teach me.”

A-01 went still. “Teach you what? Calculus? resource management?”

“Anatomy,” Nikki whispered. “Specifically… reproductive mechanics. If I’m doing it wrong, General, show me how to do it right. You know everything, don’t you?”

A-01 stared at her. He was programmed to give an answer.

He conceded. “Very well. A theoretical overview.”

He raised his hand and placed it on her knee.

Nikki’s breath hitched.

“The human biological response is a sequence of nerve triggers,” A-01 lectured, his tone dry and academic, even as his large hand slid slowly up her thigh. “It begins with the tactile receptors in the epidermis.”

He squeezed her thigh gently. It wasn’t a caress; it felt deliberate, possessive. His thumb pressed into the soft flesh just above her knee.

“The signal travels up the femoral nerve,” he continued, his hand gliding higher, pushing the hem of the oversized shirt up just an inch. “It creates a feedback loop of anticipation.”

Nikki’s heart started to pound.

“Then,” A-01 murmured, stepping closer until his hips bumped against her knees, “it engages the vagus nerve.”

He lifted his other hand and touched her neck, his cool fingers resting against her pulse point. He didn’t look at her body; he looked dead in her eyes, maintaining intense, unblinking eye contact.

“Here,” he whispered, pressing down on the sensitive spot under her ear. “And here.”

He moved his hand down, tracing the line of her throat, over her collarbone, and resting flat over her heart, right under her right breast.

“The heart rate accelerates. Blood is diverted from the logic centers to the extremities. The subject becomes… compromised.”

Nikki gasped, her head falling back slightly as his thumb brushed over the fabric covering her nipple. It was accidental, or maybe it wasn’t. With him, she could never tell.

“And finally,” A-01 said, his voice dropping to a low rumble that vibrated through her ribs. “The reproductive system prepares for integration.”

He moved his hand from her knee, sliding it inward, resting it dangerously high on her inner thigh. His heat seeped through the thin fabric of his shirt.

“Nerve density is highest… here,” he whispered.

He didn’t touch her there. He just rested his hand inches away, letting the heat of his palm radiate into her.

Nikki was trembling. She was gripping the edge of the desk so hard her knuckles were white. She felt heavy, hot, and dizzy.

“Is this… accurate?” A-01 asked, leaning down so his face was level with hers. “Do you understand the mechanics now, Student?”

Nikki let out a shaky, broken sound. “I… I think I need a practical demonstration.”

A-01 paused. He looked at the flush on her chest. He looked at her dilated pupils. He looked at the way her legs had unconsciously parted to accommodate him.

He pulled his hands back.

The loss of contact was like a physical blow. Nikki almost whined.

A-01 straightened up, adjusting his cuffs.

“Heart rate 150,” he noted, his voice sounding slightly strained. “Respiration rapid. Skin conductivity increased.”

He looked back at her, his brow furrowed in genuine confusion.

“Why are you aroused again?” he asked. “I was merely identifying nerve clusters. It was a medical demonstration. There was no sexual intent.”

Nikki laughed, a nervous, breathless sound that bubbled up from her chest. She slumped forward, resting her forehead against his chest because she felt like she might faint.

“Because humans are sensitive creatures, you idiot,” she mumbled into his uniform. “We don’t just run on code. We run on… feelings.”

She pulled back to look at him. He was staring at her mouth again. That glitch, that tiny, microscopic hesitation, was back in his eyes.

Nikki felt a surge of boldness. The timer was ticking. She had nothing left to lose.

She reached up and grabbed the lapels of his uniform, pulling him down until their lips were barely a breath apart.

She tilted her head, brushing her nose against his.

“Do you know how to kiss? Or should I teach you?”
