His reply made her wish she could sew her mouth shut. “Nothing. Just that I kind of want to sleep with you.”

Nathaniel Nathan turned to look at her and said, “I really regret the things I promised you when we got married. But don’t worry, a man of my word is a man of my word. I won’t do anything to you tonight, but I will find a way to announce our relationship as soon as possible.”

Vera Xavier gave a soft cough and didn’t speak. Nathaniel Nathan asked, “Does your silence mean you agree?”

The older doctor on duty felt a bit embarrassed. ’Young people these days,’ he thought, ’they just say whatever they want with no filter. It’s just applying some medicine, did they have to make it sound like… that? I’m really getting old. I can’t keep up with their modern way of talking!’

Half an hour later, Nathaniel Nathan finished applying the medicine for Vera Xavier. She discovered that after the medicine was rubbed in, her arm actually didn’t hurt as much!

She thanked him from the bottom of her heart, “Thank you!”
