Chapter 64: Transmigrators
Earlier, Dante had noticed that some races were pronounced the same way in both English and the language of this world.
He didn’t care that much, thinking that it was a coincidence. But now, as he held a book with English words on the cover, his thoughts changed.
’There must have been another transmigrator!’
Dante thought about that for a moment and realized that it was very likely. If the original Fafnir could use a mysterious black magic ritual to bring Dante here, then what of the person who created the ritual?
It was written that the ritual was for random body swap, but what if that was a lie? What if that ritual was directed to Earth?
’And who said the original Fafnir is the only one who found that ritual? Maybe the creator of that ritual left other similar tombs all over the world.’
’The one who named the human race, the angel race, the demon race, and the dragon race is likely a transmigrator from Earth. And the one who wrote this book is also a transmigrator from Earth.’
’But why Earth exactly? Is Earth the only world that has humans other than this? Or was the person who created the ritual originally from Earth?’
Dante had many questions in his mind, but he couldn’t find any answers. The only thing he had was the black magic book, which might not have anything to answer them.
’No, there is also the dungeon that the guard talked about.’
Beth had found this book while she was exploring a mysterious dungeon with her husband. If Dante decided to ask the guard about it and go to explore the dungeon, wouldn’t he find more clues?
’But what if that dungeon contained monsters beyond my strength? Beth and her husband didn’t suffer there for no reason.’
From what Dante had read, there was a subtle difference between dungeons and ancient ruins.
Ancient ruins were simply built by ancient civilization, whatever race they belonged to, and later fell due to different reasons, becoming forgotten and hidden.
They might or might not contain monsters, and they might or might not contain something valuable inside.
The dungeons, on the other hand, were made by mana and nature without any interference from any intelligent being. You were guaranteed to find monsters or beasts inside, and they were mostly filled with valuable resources.
They were dangerous and unpredictable, but in that danger existed a chance for fast money.
You might ask, why would a black magic book exist in a dungeon made by nature?
Because apparently, many people, mostly the wanted criminals or those who wanted to hide dangerous things, would find dungeons and turn them into their hideouts.
Immediately, an obsidian-black coin appeared in Dante’s hand. He instantly tossed it three times.
Ting! Ting! Ting!
“….”
Three skulls, not a single crown. It was indeed dangerous.
’Maybe when I become Rank 2. Hopefully that dungeon will stay unexplored.’
Dante sighed helplessly and opened the black magic book, reading the first page.
It was written in English, the words rapidly flickering between white and black, as though they were a chaotic glitch in the world.
“Chaos Energy—the only known supernatural energy that exists in my motherworld, Earth. It had always existed since the beginning of existence, but only a few knew about it.
Whenever someone showed it throughout history, it’d later be described as something from stories, some myths that no one believes in.
But as one of the minority who knew about it, and the lead scientist for a special government research program that’s only purpose was understanding chaos energy, I’ve always known about it.“
Reading all this, Dante and Fafnir’s jaws dropped instantly.
“WHAT THE FUCK?!”
A wave of shock and disbelief hit them like no other thing they had read.
Magic existed on Earth, but he knew nothing about it? No, only a minority of humans knew about it?!
That couldn’t be possible, right?
’No, no, no, no—the hints were in front of me all the time!’
Wasn’t his trait responsible for everything that happened to him? Wasn’t it a magical thing that worked on Earth without need of mana?
If he could have such traits, then why wouldn’t the others? They all had their own domains, didn’t they? They were all born with the potential to use superpower abilities.
’And they were already doing that!’ Dante’s memory of the loan shark who had always found Dante on the payment time resurfaced in his mind.
Dante had always tried to hide from him, moving hundreds of kilometres away from the last place they met. But he was always found. It was as though the loan shark had a method to track him.
’Wait.’ Then suddenly, the memory of Dante’s latest moment on Earth flashed in his mind.
’A man that has the same appearance as me. He even had my scars and the missing eye and arm. That wasn’t only bad luck, that was intentional! He likely had a power that allowed him to take my appearance to slow the policeman by making him shoot at me instead.’
Everything started to slowly make sense to Dante. Although they didn’t have the same class system, they clearly had supernatural abilities that defied what he had considered logic.
Dante sat down on the soft snow, resting his back against a tree, and took a deep breath.
’And the government was doing its own research on the supernatural energy. Of course, they would. I bet on my demonic liver that they were doing their best to hide that energy.’
Dante’s curiosity now reached its peak as he was about to continue reading, but then he noticed the tears forming in his eyes.
’Ah… the used ink seems to be made of that chaotic energy. It should be affecting me.’
Dante stared at the book thoughtfully. Then suddenly, he got an idea.
’Fafnir, help me with this. I’ll use your eyes to test something.’ Dante said before throwing the book toward Fafnir.
Fafnir caught the book instantly and opened the first page again. Then, Dante started reading through Fafnir’s eyes.
“While doing some experiments on chaos energy, one of the scientists with low experience made a small mistake, causing a chain reaction that exploded the chaos energy reactor.
I don’t know what happened exactly, but the next moment I opened my eyes, I wasn’t on Earth anymore.
I was left in the cold, without even clothes to protect me, and no one of the other scientists or the government workers was around me.
I couldn’t even sense any chaos energy, neither in the air nor my body. Instead, I sensed a kind of blue energy that was lively and stable.
Before I could understand anything, I was surrounded by something called the World Runes, which forced the formation of a core inside my head and showed me my real potential, giving me the extraordinary class “Ocean of Chaos” and the 58th Crown of Existence.
It was an unreal experience, one that couldn’t be described with words or logic.
Later, some strange blue people with pointy ears saved me and taught me everything I know today. I was truly lucky to meet them.
I called them “Elves” later, inspired by an old novel I had read on Earth. Their king liked that name and added “Frost” before it. He is really adorable despite having anger issues.
After three years of learning and experimenting, I decided to write this book as a guide for any other fellow humans from Earth, in case I died before finding them.
If you can read this, then you’re one of us and qualified to learn about the true chaos.
Before you start, I want to give you some advice, in case you were lucky and didn’t realize it yourself.
You have to grow stronger. Not money or fame, I mean literal strength.
There is no government or laws to protect you here.
There are no national agreements between all nations to keep the supernatural anomalies and the magical abilities hidden.
There is nothing stopping two higher beings from killing you by mistake if they fought close to your home.
I wish you good luck, you’ll need it.
Oh, and I forgot to mention—there is a chaos spell affecting the book for safety. Take a rest every few lines or it might hurt you a little.“
“….”
Fafnir closed the book immediately while Dante rubbed his eyes.
His hand was now painted in red, his eyes were bleeding.
’You should have mentioned that earlier…’
