Chapter 106: Battle of The Fallen
As soon as the human’s eyes turned from deep gold to a bright yellow, Angelus felt a shift in Dheinyrus’ presence. He changed. It was as if the one in front of him was no longer human.
And he was right.
Cyreth had no emotion on his face whatsoever while he was looking at the fallen angel. Or, aside from utter disgust, nothing else.
The Demon King spoke.
“What is this?”
Letting out a sigh, the fallen god answered.
“I am Cyreth.”
Angelus raised an eyebrow.
“Is that true… I see. So you are planning to turn Dheinyrus into your vessel, but he somehow has control over you.”
He then laughed and continued.
“Talk about being such a loser. You’re the most pathetic god I’ve ever seen.”
Cyreth remained silent for a bit. He just scanned Angelus’ whole body for a while before taking a deep breath.
He then said:
“You said you’re immortal, and that you’re looking for a way to end yourself.”
Angelus nodded.
“That’s about right.”
Indeed, Angelus was the only being in this world who even death itself couldn’t chase. Cyreth didn’t have any means to kill him either.
The fallen angel added:
“Unless you’ve got a better idea than me, I’ll have Dheinyrus destroy this planet.”
Cyreth chuckled and then said:
“I can’t have that. I still have past grievances to settle.”
Angelus glared at him.
“So what are you gonna do? Kill me? Keep fighting me until the end of time? There’s not a single thing on this planet that can stop my plans, Cyreth. Even you are restricted by time right now.”
Then, from inside Cyreth’s head, he heard Dhein’s voice.
’You asked me to switch places with you, but do you have a way to kill him?’
Cyreth didn’t respond immediately to both. Instead, he took a couple of steps to the side, observing his surroundings. He then stretched his shoulders and arms.
He spoke.
“I don’t. This isn’t about gaining a star to replace you. If this bastard succeeds, he will kill Oneirah’s reincarnation and permanently banish me from your body. I need to stop him too.”
Angelus tilted his head.
“Why are you guys chatting by yourselves? Let me in on that too.”
Cyreth went on to stretch his legs and back too. As he spoke, he was popping his neck.
“We were just talking about how to get rid of you.”
When he was done warming up, he exhaled slowly through his mouth.
“Well then, shall we start?”
Angelus grinned.
“Ready when you are. Let’s see how you’re planning to defeat me. Blame yourself if it fails.”
Currently, they are twenty meters apart.
Until they began.
In the blink of an eye, both of them disappeared from their spots, a cloud of dust exploded in their trails as they moved faster than sound.
The two instantly clashed in the middle, and the ground shook with every blow.
Angelus snapped his fingers, summoning a quantum disturbance at his targeted area which, in this case, Cyreth.
But instead of the fallen god being blown up, Cyreth suddenly moved even faster than quantum particles, dodging every single wave. He disappeared and reappeared, dashing to a thousand different positions in less than a tenth of a second.
Angelus didn’t have time to process the overwhelming gap of both skill and power between them as a blazing crimson orb obliterated his body. He tried to regenerate only for his body to shatter a million times more.
Cyreth bombarded him with these miniature red stars. His flesh got reduced to separate cells, then to molecules and then to atoms. Over, and over, and over again as many times as he regenerated.
The fallen angel switched his approach and regenerated from the bottom of his body — the feet. Using this chance, he kicked the ground so hard it launched him all the way to the shore of the southern oceans.
Cyreth scoffed before covering that distance in less than a fraction of a second.
“Why are you running?” he asked upon arriving to the beach.
But there was no Angelus in sight.
“You can’t hide from me, you disgraceful rodent.”
Cyreth smirked when he saw the Demon King sprinting back to the castle. He wanted to kill the Olcourian princess right away and get rid of the fallen god.
Of course, Cyreth wasn’t going to have it.
He easily chased Angelus down and grabbed him by the nape. Then, he shoved his face on the dirt and grinded against it at the speed of sound. Cyreth bashed the fallen angel’s head against the ground several times, crushing his skull intil his brains fell out.
Angelus realized that targeting the princess would leave him wide open for Cyreth’s attacks, and decided to at least slow the fallen god down, enough for him to be able to kill the princess.
Spinning violently, Angelus slashed Cyreth’s neck only for the fallen god to lean back and dodge. Unlike Angelus, he needed to protect himself.
When they stopped moving across the wasteland, Cyreth punched several holes into Angelus’ body. The fallen angel ignored them and went for the offensive. He threw punches of his own and even landed a few on Cyreth’s face. And as they were trading earthshaking blows, Angelus noticed one thing:
The god was slowing down.
This brought a smile to his face. Before Dheinyrus switched places with the god, there was a gaping wound on his abdomen. And blood was leaking out from it this entire time.
Angelus used this opportunity and struck the wound. Only then did Cyreth also notice it.
Cyreth began to be put in the back foot. He was stepped backwards while trying to defend his vital points and the open wound at the same time.
He can’t retreat because Angelus would go for the princess. He can’t attack either or risk receiving fatal damage.
The tables had turned suddenly. As much as it infuriated Cyreth that he was being beaten by a mere angel, he had to admit that he needed to use his weapon out of necessity, as opposed to using it for fun.
After creating a bit of distance between them, Cyreth called the realm-cleaving young star.
