The space within the Dream Realm differs completely from reality, with no true concept of up, down, left, or right. Movement here follows none of the principles familiar to ordinary beings.
Without coordinates, finding your desired destination within the Dream Realm becomes nearly impossible.
Even if you follow another entity traversing the dreamscape or trail behind the Divine Boat, either may vanish from sight from one moment to the next.
Besides a few powerful divine beings, perhaps only dream races can navigate such spaces without losing themselves.
One moment Florrie beheld nothing but emptiness, and in the blink of an eye, an enormous vessel appeared before her.
Holding her flower branch, Florrie raised her head to look upward, calling out the vessel’s name.
“It’s the Divine Boat.”
“Whooom~” The massive Divine Boat emitted a deep, resonant hum as it continued its patrol.
After Florrie called out the vessel’s name, a beam of light descended from the boat, illuminating her.
In a flash, Florrie boarded the vessel…
Florrie possessed the authority to enter and exit the Creator’s Domain, so the Divine Boat did not refuse her passage. However, the monsters who had followed Florrie into the Dream Realm enjoyed no such privilege. They were instantly pulverized to dust before entering Sequence Number 2.
Great sails unfurled atop the Divine Boat. Its hull was adorned with sculptures of various races. Above, countless life dreams floated.
Those dreams, intertwined ribbons of color and darkness, encircled the sails, forming a spectacular river of dreams.
Florrie had traversed the dream star sea many times and witnessed all manner of life dreams. However, she had never seen such unexamined life dreams.
“Half colored, half black.”
“So this is how life dreams appear before judgment.”
She took flight, circling around the sails.
She pressed her eye against one life dream and peered inside.
A mortal’s lifetime flashed before her, scene after scene appearing like a revolving lantern.
Florrie was so entranced that she nearly missed her stop.
When she came to her senses, she immediately descended from the heights and ran to the bow.
“Divine Boat, this is where I disembark.”
“I need to leave now.”
At the Divine Boat’s bow stood an iron figurehead, which turned to look at Florrie before truly slowing its pace.
Florrie wasn’t seeking passage back home. She had merely hitched a ride with a ‘favorable wind.’
She still had one last Demigod’s domain to visit.
“Thank you.”
“Farewell.”
Watching the Divine Boat depart, Florrie waved and expressed her gratitude.
Florrie flew forward, holding her flower branch. This time, she did not need to open a passage to the mortal realm because her destination lay within the Dream Realm itself.
She flew farther and farther through the darkness until a point of light appeared ahead.
Here, she sensed the power of myth.
The distant light grew steadily larger, eventually revealing itself as an ancient door.
The door was carved with various mysterious patterns and symbols.
Florrie landed at the foot of the door. Compared to the massive mythical entrance, she appeared inconsequential, smaller than a mere dot among the patterns adorning its base.
Gazing at the tightly sealed door, Florrie suddenly recalled mortal etiquette.
“Should I knock?”
Yet before the Wood Nymph could finish her deliberation, the mythical door slowly opened.
Light projected from behind the door, blindingly brilliant, illuminated Florrie’s already white skin, rendering it translucent and forcing her to close her eyes.
But her black hair floated in the radiance, strikingly visible.
When the Wood Nymph opened her eyes again, she saw that behind the Door of Truth stood numerous Trilobite Men wearing Yinsai ceremonial robes.
They stood on either side of a path of light, their gazes fixed upon Florrie below.
The ghosts of the Polik family stood in formation, their voices perfectly synchronized. Though spoken from different mouths, they sounded as one.
“Welcome, messenger from the Creator’s Domain.”
Florrie observed these ghosts and thought to herself.
“So many Trilobite Men.”
The Wood Nymph had never seen Trilobite Men before. She had only witnessed the ancient ruins in the God-Given City of the Sun Cup Flower Sea, and the statue of the King of Wisdom at the foot of the pyramid.
Florrie walked along the path of light, entering this ocean of information.
As she ascended higher, the rows of ghosts bowed to her one by one, then vanished into the white radiance.
Finally, the light, shadows, and sea of information transformed in an instant, becoming an ancient temple.
Florrie stood before the temple of God Asai.
Yet she did not see the God of Truth and Knowledge Asai. Instead, she saw the first patriarch of the Ghost Race, Polik.
Florrie addressed Ghost Polik: “I am a Wood Nymph from the Creator’s Domain, and my name is Florrie.”
“The Dream Sovereign Hila created us and appointed the Wood Nymph race as messengers of the gods. I have come to inform the deity who resides here.”
“May I ask which deity you serve?”
Ghost Polik answered: “I am a follower of the God of Truth and Knowledge. My name is Polik.”
Florrie looked at the countless books within the temple and asked Polik.
“Then you must love learning?”
Ancient spirits have also collected many books in their Spirit Grand Library, which has gathered almost all existing books and knowledge in this world, though spirits only collect and do not enjoy reading.
Ghost Polik: “I was once a priest of the Temple of Truth. The pursuit of truth and knowledge is, for us, both instinct and faith.”
“As for God Asai, He was the third-generation student of the Temple of Truth. His teacher was Haru, and Haru’s teacher was Sandean, the first generation of the Temple of Truth.”
“Our lives revolve around the pursuit of knowledge, for it was this pursuit that began our life’s journey.”
The Wood Nymph exclaimed in awe: “The Temple of Truth? I’ve heard of it.”
“It was inherited by the second-generation saint, Stan Tito.”
“You’ve existed for so long, following your deity across nearly two hundred and fifty million years.”
Ghost Polik suddenly looked up: “So the era of Yinsai has been gone for two hundred and fifty million years?”
This was the first time they learned the exact timespan between the previous era and the present.
Florrie: “Where is your deity?”
Ghost Polik: “The deity has not yet awakened.”
Florrie: “Why does He slumber?”
“Is He injured?”
Polik asked Florrie: “Beautiful Wood Nymph! Do you find the world beautiful, or despairing?”
Florrie replied matter-of-factly: “Beautiful, of course.”
Ghost Polik: “But some find it full of despair.”
Florrie understood Ghost Polik’s meaning: “He doesn’t wish to awaken?”
Ghost Polik nodded, then stated with certainty, “But He will surely awaken, for He will eventually know that He can neither escape the past nor avoid facing the future.”
Ghost Polik was a follower of Asai. When Asai was imprisoned in Anho City, Polik was his cellmate.
They were all once abandoned by the world, yearning to escape their past and everything else.
In the end, they sought to stop everything caused by the Little Person in the Bottle and to free countless ghosts trapped under the Evil God’s power.
Asai donned the black robe, took up the scythe and the bronze book, and transformed himself into the Lord of Death.
He liberated countless ghosts, including Princess Yeya, while he entered beyond the door to begin the process of sealing and reincarnation.
Polik established the Polik family during the God-Forsaken Era, and he himself transformed into a ghost, guarding Asai from the previous era until now.
After hearing Polik’s story, Florrie felt saddened.
“For so long, don’t you feel lonely?”
“For the sake of a promise, you can never find release. How are you different from those souls who suffered because of the Evil God?”
Polik suddenly lifted his head. In this moment, he no longer gave the mechanical responses of the Door of Truth. It seemed as if the memories of the former Polik had returned.
“No!”
“Of course it’s different.”
Ghost Polik: “We are all failures who crawled out from the mire. We all once possessed glory and brilliant pasts.”
“We all once dreamed the wildest dreams. We all once pursued truth at any cost.”
“In the end, we all paid the price for these wild dreams.”
Polik: “Messenger from the Creator’s Domain! We are not mindless spirits. We possess a shared belief.”
“I want to see how far He can go.”
“I want to see the limits of truth.”
“For this… I am willing.”
Avel Peninsula.
In a cemetery within the valley.
Yafuan came to visit his fallen comrades, heroes who had died over the years.
The custom of the Avel people was to bury their dead in stone coffins, but these coffins were not buried in the ground. Instead, they were placed directly on the surface, with the name of the deceased carved on one side of the coffin.
Yafuan stood before Echilio’s grave. The tomb was empty, containing only some of Echilio’s belongings.
“These years. Since leaving Ruhe Beast Island, I feel I’ve done many things, succeeded in many ways.”
“But in the end, it seems I’ve done nothing, and succeeded at nothing.”
Yafuan placed his hand on the stone coffin. Only at times like this could he feel the immense pressure he faced. The monsters from the Abyss came one after another, pressing down on the Avel people and Yafuan until they could hardly breathe.
And recently, bad news followed bad news.
The Winged People’s preparations to leave Moonlight Island and cross the Desert of the Fallen Sun had been confirmed as true. The Winged People had even begun to move.
Lately, Abyss Queen Melde had begun to direct her main offensive against the Avel people. Without doubt, what followed would be even more difficult than before.
Yafuan stood alone in the cemetery, his emotions somewhat agitated.
“I once told you that everything would get better.”
“But now, it seems all I can do is say those words. The situation has never truly improved.”
“Lord Xiuborn fulfilled his oath, using everything he had to complete it. But apart from saying pretty words, I am utterly powerless.”
Yafuan was merely a Third-Rank Ability User. When facing apostle-level beings and existences like the Abyss, he felt profoundly helpless.
“We cannot continue to await our doom like this.”
Yafuan left the cemetery.
He once again activated the Divine Artifact, Polik’s Right Hand, arriving at the edge of the Dream Realm.
Even if he couldn’t receive help from the Door of Truth, he still hoped to gain some guidance through sacrifice.
However, when Yafuan arrived this time, he found the Door of Truth wide open.
This discovery left Yafuan perplexed.
Led by the light, he came to the foot of the temple of the God of Truth and Knowledge. An ordinary ghost received Yafuan and conveyed to him the will of the Door of Truth.
“You have come again, believer Yafuan.”
“The Door of Truth considers your request unreasonable, and therefore judges your request invalid.”
Yafuan asked again: “I wish to know how to defeat and seal the Abyss and Melde. For this, I am willing to pay the price.”
The ghost answered: “Insufficient information, insufficient intelligence. The target involves mythical power. Currently unable to determine.”
Yafuan was once again rebuffed, but he made another discovery.
He heard another voice coming down from the temple above. It seemed someone else had arrived here.
This also explained why Yafuan had seen the Door of Truth standing open earlier.
Yafuan was utterly astonished.
He had never seen anyone else come to this place before.
“So that’s how it is!” A woman’s voice exclaimed. Her tone possessed the quiet serenity of the jungle.
She spoke again: “I understand.”
“Although your deity has not yet awakened, when he does awaken, please give him this Rainbow Tree flower branch.”
“That voice?” Yafuan recognized it immediately. It belonged to the rainbow-colored tree he had seen before, emanating from within the tree.
Here, he saw her true form.
She was a being of God’s Form, a perfect divine form in every sense.
He prostrated himself at the foot of the divine platform, watching as she handed a flower branch to Ghost Polik, then turned to leave.
Ghost Polik, usually so lofty, respectfully bowed to the young woman.
After she walked out through the Door of Truth, he immediately followed.
Wood Nymph Florrie also noticed Yafuan and turned to look at him.
“Snake person, why are you following me?”
Yafuan immediately introduced himself: “Hello, we met once before.”
“In that forest to the north, by a colorful flower tree…”
Hearing Yafuan’s words, Florrie recalled the encounter.
“You’re the one who meddled without sending a letter.”
Yafuan quickly explained: “Please forgive my presumption, but at the time I didn’t know who you were, nor did I know the purpose of that beautiful flower tree.”
Florrie told him: “I am a Wood Nymph. My name is Florrie.”
“That tree was a Wood Nymph’s Rainbow Tree, used as coordinates for sending letters.”
This was the first time Yafuan had heard of this race. He carefully asked Florrie.
“Wood Nymph?”
“What is that?”
Florrie explained: “We are messengers of the gods, beings who traverse the dreamscape.”
“We only deliver messages for the gods, though we also deliver letters from mortals filled with wishes.”
“That you could see the Rainbow Tree was your fortune.”
“I can deliver a letter for you, but only to other people in the mortal realm, unless one of the gods acknowledges you and agrees to receive your letter.”
Yafuan looked at her in shock: “Messenger of the gods? Then you come from…?”
Florrie told him: “I come from the Creator’s Domain.”
Yafuan finally understood what manner of being stood before him. It was a messenger from the Creator’s Domain.
Yafuan immediately prostrated himself: “Messenger from the Creator’s Domain!”
“Would you listen to our story?”
Florrie stood thinking for a moment: “I can listen to your story.”
Florrie enjoyed listening to stories, just as she had listened to the story of Ghost Polik and Asai. Such stories might become very interesting topics at the next Rainbow Forest tea party.
Yafuan feared that this messenger from the Creator’s Domain might grow impatient.
He omitted a large portion of the beginning.
He spoke directly of the recent situation of the Avel people, of the existence of the Abyss Monsters, of countless people who died or became displaced in the disaster.
Florrie sympathized with the plight of the Avel people, but spoke very directly.
“You wish to beseech the gods for help? But the gods will not help you.”
Yafuan asked: “Why?”
Wood Nymph Florrie: “Because, as you just said, this disaster was brought by you. It was because of you that the Abyss and monsters appeared.”
“You touched forbidden things, defiled divine beings, and brought your own destruction.”
“Why would the gods extend their help for your madness?”
Yafuan had already anticipated this answer.
Though to mortals, the Snake People and Winged People seemed different, as did the Avel people, the Beast-Herding tribes, and the City-State people.
But in the eyes of divine beings, they were all one and the same.
Whether this catastrophe was brought by the Winged People or Snake People, it was the mortals who invited it.
“I understand.”
“All of this is the fault of mortals, our arrogance and pride, our ignorance that summoned this terrible disaster.”
Yafuan pleaded with Wood Nymph Florrie, as if grasping at the last straw of hope.
“I only ask that you give us, give the humble mortals, a small hint of guidance.”
“We are willing to pay the price, willing to use our own strength, use everything to resolve this disaster.”
“But we are truly lost.”
Florrie gazed at Yafuan for a long while before finally speaking.
“Recently I’ve been trying to form my spirit realm.”
“If you can give me some ideas, perhaps I can help you find answers to your problem.”
Florrie briefly explained to Yafuan what a spirit realm was, and Yafuan’s mind immediately began working at high speed.
Finally, he said to Florrie.
“If it were me, I would create passage after passage within the spirit realm.”
“Then at every place in the world I deemed important, I would establish a door.”
“When I opened the door, I could instantly enter another place. This way I could go anywhere at any time. Similarly, others could use my doors to instantly travel elsewhere.”
Florrie immediately recorded Yafuan’s idea in her notebook.
Without doubt, Yafuan’s concept strongly reflected the characteristics of the Truth and Knowledge lineage.
Yafuan asked nervously: “Lady Florrie, are you satisfied with my suggestion?”
Though Florrie was merely Second-Rank and Yafuan had long been a Third-Rank Ability User, at that moment Yafuan humbled himself before her as if wishing to sink into the dust.
After finishing her notes, the Wood Nymph bowed in return.
“Thank you for your suggestion. I have recorded it.”
The Wood Nymph asked him directly: “This Abyss Queen you mentioned, does she live in a place filled with filthy black mud?”
“Does she have white hair and many wings on her back?”
Yafuan hadn’t expected Wood Nymph Florrie to know of her: “That’s exactly her.”
Wood Nymph Florrie nodded: “Then I understand. I encountered her on my way here.”
“She collided with the Divine Boat and likely suffered serious injuries.”
“I can investigate what this Abyss you speak of truly is and find the method you seek to counter the Abyss.”
Florrie walked past Yafuan, who remained prostrate on the ground. Amid a shower of colorful petals, her beautiful silhouette gradually vanished.
“However, I am merely a humble Wood Nymph, not a divine being.”
“Don’t expect too much.”
Rainbow Tree Forest.
Florrie’s successful return from her journey was met with celebration by all the Wood Nymphs. This marked the completion of a very important mission for their race, a historic moment for them all.
At the same time, Florrie’s harvest had been abundant.
Florrie had received various suggestions and developed her own preliminary ideas during this journey.
A large group of Wood Nymphs gathered once more, naturally bringing out teapots and pastries.
The ground of the Rainbow Forest was covered with flower petals, soft beneath their bare feet.
Other Wood Nymphs asked Florrie: “Sister Florrie, which one will you choose?”
Florrie: “I received advice not only from divine beings but also from a deity’s servant.”
She took out her little notebook and began discussing with the Wood Nymphs present.
“First, I could transform my domain into a spirit realm in the mortal world, where all letters from mortals would gather, condensing into the Light of Wishes. Later, when I advance to Fourth-Rank, it could become a space within the Dream Realm, a transit hub where we all take turns maintaining watch while harvesting the Light of Wishes.”
“I call this the Letter Spirit Realm.”
“Second, I could establish a spirit realm for storage, forming contracts with mortals through spiritual agreements, lending space to mortal Ability Users. This would also be an excellent way to gather the Light of Wishes.”
“However, this type of spirit realm would only be possible after reaching Fourth-Rank.”
“I’ve named it the Storage Spirit Realm.”
“Third would be opening numerous passages to the mortal realm, connecting them to form doors that traverse space.”
“But this seems like something only a mythical being could accomplish.”
“I’ve given it a name too: the Door Spirit Realm.”
The nymphs immediately applauded at the tea party, feeling that all three spirit realms were impressive and excellent.
“Sister Florrie, which one will you choose?”
If they were spirits, they would certainly choose the third option.
The third option seemed the most interesting of all.
In the end, Florrie chose the safest first option: “We are messengers of the gods. Delivering messages is our mission, so I’ll choose the first one.”
“I will establish a Letter Spirit Realm.”
All the nymphs rose to congratulate Florrie on her choice.
Following this, at this Rainbow Forest tea party, Wood Nymph Florrie also mentioned the story of the Avel people and Yafuan, asking if anyone had thoughts on the matter.
Someone inquired about the deity worshipped by the Winged People: “What kind of Demigod is that? How could such a deity have followers that even the Creator doesn’t know about?”
Other nymphs nodded: “Indeed, isn’t this being from the previous era?”
Florrie shook her head: “Becoming a Demigod in this era, such a possibility shouldn’t exist.”
“I saw His mythical gate, extremely ancient.”
“This must be a being from the previous era.”
She speculated: “He might be sleeping, or perhaps has forgotten His past, so He hasn’t told His followers.”
“That’s why His followers behave so madly, doing such terrible things.”
Another nymph raised her hand: “Can we discover His history?”
Immediately, a nymph sitting at the other end of the long table shook her head: “That would certainly be a story from the previous era. His title was given by the gods, and without His true name, it’s difficult to know His origins.”
Someone asked Florrie: “Then, what is this deity’s title?”
Wood Nymph Florrie thought for a moment, realizing she had forgotten.
The titles of these Demigods were very long, and she never remembered them clearly.
“I’ve forgotten what He’s called.”
A nymph asked: “Then what is the place where He lives called?”
Florrie told the other nymphs: “He lives in a place called the Abyss.”
The nymphs whispered among themselves.
“The Abyss?”
“What is that?”
Just remembering it made Florrie’s hair stand on end: “A place full of filth, stench, and degradation.”
Many nymphs immediately shook their heads: “How could that be? How could any deity choose to live in such a place?”
One Wood Nymph suddenly realized: “I’ve heard that mortal nobles build places called toilets, which are full of filth and stench. Could that be the kind of place you mean?”
“Then this deity, could He be the god who governs such places?”
The nymph stood up and said with a serious expression: “He must be the God of Toilets and Filth.”
Could such a deity truly exist?
The nymphs were skeptical.
But the world is vast, containing all manner of wonders.
Yet if not such a deity, who else would choose to dwell amidst filth?
It seemed reasonable.
The nymphs agreed with thoughtful nods.
