Ray’s Miracle Workshop was situated close to the Moon Tower and near the Yesael Tower.
The workshop was cluttered with various components, creating an atmosphere of complete chaos. Miracle ritual stone slabs of all sizes were scattered throughout, making what should have been a spacious area feel like a cramped maze.
Only upon reaching the innermost section did one find a cleared space, where a table stood covered in scrolls.
A door in this section led directly to an outside corridor, with bright light streaming through the doorway.
Walking outside, one would discover the corridor was several dozen meters above the ground, with several aircraft placed along its length.
“This is my Miracle Workshop. It’s where I live and work,” Ray said with a grin.
“I don’t just make aircraft here. I also tinker with other things, like singing boxes, mechanical grippers that climb walls on their own, and gliders based on simpler aircraft designs.”
Ray walked back inside, introducing his home and workshop while picking up various strange and peculiar objects to show them.
Gamel was now getting to know Ray. He was no longer as fearful as before and did not feel like he was speaking with a great Divine Child.
Ray did not quite look like a living person, yet he was surprisingly easy to get along with.
He was not at all as arrogant as Gamel had imagined.
In fact, Ray turned out to be quite interesting.
After arriving at the Abyss Royal City, the first thing Gamel had noticed was the clothing of the Demon Spirit race.
It was a magnificent and delicate fabric that, according to legend, only existed in the kingdoms of the gods.
This kind of fabric could not be woven by snake people. Its beauty was too exquisite for the mortal world.
Yet in this city, it did not seem particularly precious.
At this moment, he saw a large amount of this same fabric hanging in Ray’s Miracle Workshop. He could not help but ask.
“Mr. Ray,” Gamel asked, his curiosity evident, “this fabric is said to be the work of divine beings. How do you make it?”
“Are there skilled artisans here in the Abyss Royal City who create and sew such exquisite materials for you?”
Ray, hearing Gamel’s question, immediately turned and looked at him with confusion.
“Make it?” Ray repeated, raising an eyebrow.
“No, there’s no need to make it,” he explained casually. “It can simply be transformed.”
Gamel blinked in surprise.
“Transformed?”
Gamel was completely bewildered. Oran, however, roughly understood what Ray meant, although he had never seen it himself.
Ray rummaged through a pile of miscellaneous items for a long while before finally pulling out a stone slab.
He compared the ritual array on it with the corresponding Ancient Spirit names, then nodded.
“Yep, this looks about right,” Ray said with a nod.
“It should still work.”
He pulled some items that seemed like junk from a corner, arranged them on the slab in approximate proportions, and placed both hands firmly on it.
A vibrant light emerged above the stone slab. Within the glow, the “junk” dissolved and reformed, transforming into a shimmering dust.
Moments later, a stunning piece of fabric materialized above the slab and floated down gracefully.
Ray demonstrated the process for Oran and Gamel, gesturing toward them with a proud smile.
“Look!” Ray said, pointing with excitement. “It appears just like that.”
It was as if he was saying it was all just that easy.
The sight left both Oran and Gamel utterly speechless.
This was neither alchemy nor a divine technique.
This was a miracle.
Gamel could hardly believe that such a race existed in this world, a race whose daily necessities did not require forging, smelting, or firing.
All they needed was to take out a stone slab, arrange some items on it, and press down with both hands. In an instant, they could transform anything into existence.
The Cup of Desire pinned to Oran’s chest lifted its flower cup slightly. Gamel watched Ray’s figure intently. In that moment, he began to grasp the true meaning of being a descendant of the Divine King.
Oran glanced at the stone slab, then at the cluttered and confined room. He softly spoke its true name.
“As I expected,” Oran said. “This must be a Miracle Ritual Workshop.”
Although Oran was familiar with nymphs, he knew they held only a fraction of the spirits’ power.
The Storage Nymph had once mentioned that her exquisitely beautiful possessions were all crafted by the spirits.
In the Spirit Country, such things were said to be piled high like mountains, their quantity beyond measure.
The spirits could create anything with a mere thought. They could turn cakes into walls and houses, or craft thread dolls that became entire playgrounds.
They could transform candy into stars to light up the sky, wine into flowing rivers, and gold and silver into towering mountains.
This was the power of miracles.
Hearing about it made the spirits’ power seem like a dream, filled with fantasy and an almost unreal quality.
Even though Oran had witnessed it before, seeing it again now left him deeply shaken.
Ray, however, found all of this quite normal. He casually picked up the fabric and handed it to Oran and his companion.
“I don’t know what to give you,” Ray said.
“So, I’ll give you this as a gift for your first visit.”
The guests were clearly Gamel and Oran, yet at this moment, the two of them were completely immersed in the shock and incomprehensibility of the Miracle Technique.
Gamel controlled the silver flower cup to point at Ray and asked with emotional excitement.
“What power is this?” Gamel asked.
“Can we use it? Can the snake people use it?”
“What else can this stone slab transform? Can it transform food?”
Gamel thought about how such a power would mean limitless resources and endless possibilities for the snake people. With it, they would never face hunger again and could have everything they needed.
Oran addressed Gamel’s thoughts with a calm explanation.
“This is the power of miracles,” Oran said.
“It is a power that belongs solely to the spirit race.”
“The true source of this power is not the stone slab, but the spirits who dwell in the Creator’s Domain.”
“They can transform magnificent divine weave and all kinds of food. They can create oil, candy, pastries, and even the gold and silver vessels to hold them.”
“They can shape ice, white pottery, and crystal into any form they desire.”
“As long as we can imagine something, they can bring it into existence with a simple wave of a hand.”
Oran remembered the time when the Storage Nymph Saint Raphael lived among mortals. She had everything mortals could dream of and even things beyond their imagination.
Even the most noble king would have appeared as a beggar in her presence.
Gamel controlled the flower cup to turn around and point at Oran.
“The spirits’ power?” Gamel asked.
When Gamel was small, he had heard fairy tales. The Dream Sovereign had the spirit race by his side, and they could transform all sorts of things.
However, the word “transform” had many interpretations.
What Gamel saw just now was something truly transformed into being.
Fairy tales and fantasy had become reality right before his eyes.
Oran looked at Gamel and spoke to him.
“But this is a power that belongs only to Ray and his kind. It does not belong to the snake people, nor does it belong to this era,” Oran said.
“This is the Creator’s blessing to them, and it belongs only to them.”
Ray was not clear about the current situation outside and could only tell the two of them what he knew.
“The ancient Demon Spirits made a covenant with the spirit race, which is why we can use the power of miracles,” Ray said.
“As for when the covenant was made, we have actually long forgotten.”
“We only vaguely remember how to use it.”
Gamel’s mood at this moment was hard to describe. It was beyond envy. Perhaps even his envious heart had been washed away, leaving only admiration.
The gap was simply too great, making one feel it was impossible to reach.
They were born in the Creator’s garden, possessed the bloodline of the Divine King, and controlled the power of the Ruhe Great God.
The Creator blessed them with the power of miracles, allowing them to possess everything out of thin air.
At this moment, Gamel thought with some desolation in his heart.
“We are mortals. They are Divine Children.”
Ray did not know what Gamel was thinking. He enthusiastically pulled Oran to the outside corridor and began introducing his aircraft.
“Look at this one. This is a single-person aircraft I made,” Ray said.
“This one can seat two people.”
“And this one is a dual-wing design I envisioned, but it’s not finished yet.”
Ray enthusiastically explained the manufacturing principles and structural details of the aircraft, along with the properties of the materials he used.
As Oran listened, he realized that only those who had mastered the Miracle Technique could create such aircraft, as the current smelting technology of the snake people was not advanced enough to achieve it.
Even so, Oran paid close attention to Ray’s explanation, waiting patiently until he had finished before asking about his motivation for designing a new aircraft.
“Ray,” Oran asked, “why are you working on a new aircraft?”
Ray grinned. “I want to fly to where the sun rises.”
Oran raised an eyebrow. “Where the sun rises? Why would you want to do that?”
Ray’s eyes lit up. “Someone once told me that if you keep flying toward the sunrise, you’ll reach a new world. They said there’s a New Continent out there.”
He paused for a moment, then added, “The Avel people sailed there by boat. I want to see if I can get there with my aircraft.”
Oran shook his head slightly. “The Avel people traveled west, Ray. That’s where the sun sets.”
Ray was stunned for a moment and adjusted his direction to look over there. That direction was west.
Upon learning it was the west, however, Ray suddenly became somewhat dejected.
“It would have been better if it were toward the sun,” Ray said thoughtfully.
He clapped his hands and turned to face the east.
“The continent to the west has already been discovered, so there’s no point in going that way.”
“Maybe if I head toward the sun, I can find another continent, a world no one has ever seen.”
Oran shook his head slightly. “I wouldn’t know. I have never left Ruhe Beast Island, let alone traveled to where the sun rises.”
Ray leaned in closer, his eyes gleaming with excitement. “But doesn’t the idea sound thrilling? Just imagine it!”
Oran did not understand if Ray truly wanted to search for a new world and a new continent, or if he simply wanted to fly toward where the sun rises.
After learning Ray’s purpose, Oran still hoped to persuade him to abandon this method.
“The thing is, you cannot possibly fly out of Ruhe Beast Island.”
Ray asked him in confusion, “Why not?”
Oran said, “Because no matter which direction you fly, you cannot cross the Black Storm.”
Ray, however, was unwilling to give up. He believed that if the Avel people could find a way to leave Ruhe Beast Island, he could try as well.
“As long as I find the method, I can definitely fly out. Someone managed to leave before, like the Avel people did.”
Oran had originally wanted to say that since the Avel people, no one else had left Ruhe Beast Island.
But seeing Ray’s excited and enthusiastic appearance, Oran did not say it. He vaguely understood that Ray was an incomparably persistent Demon Spirit.
As long as Ray decided on something, he would pursue that one chance of success, even if he failed a thousand times, died hundreds of times, or crossed through the cycles of the ages.
Ray’s Miracle Workshop
Oran was helping Ray modify his aircraft. After returning, he had thought for an entire night and came up with a new plan.
Ray’s original plan was simple and straightforward. It involved mounting a hot air balloon powered by flames onto the aircraft.
Ray planned to bring along a flame Demon Spirit and a kite Demon Spirit. He would operate the aircraft in the front, the flame Demon Spirit would become a hot air balloon to rest in the sky, and the kite Demon Spirit would occasionally drag them while gliding.
The three Demon Spirits would form a team, alternating and cycling forward to maintain their progress.
However, there was a flaw in this plan.
The flame Demon Spirit could float in the sky as a hot air balloon on its own, and the kite Demon Spirit could fly freely wherever it wanted.
Ray, on the other hand, could not fly. It seemed as though the other two would be dragging him along like a burden.
If the kite Demon Spirit and flame Demon Spirit did not have limited spiritual power that required rest, they might not have needed Ray’s aircraft at all.
Oran’s plan was different. He proposed creating a Third-Rank Alchemical Artifact aircraft that utilized the powers of wind and lightning Seal Imprints.
“The wind Seal Imprint will help boost the aircraft’s speed, while the lightning Seal Imprint should shield it from the storm’s lightning,” Oran explained, glancing at Ray.
“But even with those, it still won’t be enough to get you through the Black Storm,” he added with a hint of concern.
Ray nodded, eager to try. “This sounds good. Let’s try it first!”
Seeing Ray agree, Oran continued.
“Alchemical Artifacts rely on Divine Blood to function, and their usage time depends on the amount of Divine Blood available,” Oran explained.
“Divine Blood generates spiritual power, and activating extraordinary abilities consumes that power.”
“Since spiritual power takes time to recover, most Alchemical Artifacts can only be used for limited amounts of time.”
“You will need to gather enough wind and lightning extraordinary materials. The Divine Blood reserves must be sufficient to last at least half a day. You should also bring a Third-Rank flame Demon Spirit to keep the hot air balloon aloft during breaks.”
“That way, if you run out of power, you won’t fall into the sea.”
At this time, Ray asked a question.
“What about your flying carpet?”
“Does it also fly for a while and then stop for a while?”
Oran told Ray, “I have many flying carpets. When one’s power is exhausted, I just switch to another.”
Well then, this was certainly a wealthy fellow.
He had actually managed to cross half of Ruhe Beast Island in this manner.
This was not surprising, though. Oran was, after all, the founder of the White Tower Alchemy Alliance and a God’s Apostle.
Ray had some understanding of crafting artifacts, but his current skills were relatively basic.
He might have been highly skilled in the past, but much of his former knowledge had faded from memory.
Despite this, Ray had accumulated a significant amount of resources, which should be enough to create a Third-Rank Alchemical Artifact aircraft. He could also borrow additional materials from others in the Abyss Royal City if he needed to.
After reviewing Oran’s plan, Ray decided to make some adjustments.
He pulled out a new blueprint from the table. It was a fresh idea he had come up with recently.
“Oran, look at this,” Ray said.
“Can we do it this way?”
“When flying, we can let the kite Demon Spirit directly become the aircraft’s wings. This would make it faster, equivalent to giving the aircraft extraordinary wings.”
“When the wings need to rest, it can become a basket, forming a true hot air balloon.”
Ray shared his thoughts with Oran. “I only recently thought of this method and am also looking for a kite Demon Spirit to join me.”
Oran nodded. “Leave an opening so the kite Demon Spirit can embed directly into the Alchemical Artifact. This is a very interesting idea.”
After several days of designing how the kite Demon Spirit would embed into the aircraft, they suddenly had a new idea.
Oran suggested, “If we can embed the kite Demon Spirit, wouldn’t it make sense to embed other Demon Spirits as well?”
Ray replied, “Why not take it a step further? What if we integrate ourselves directly into the Alchemical Artifact as its components?”
Oran and Ray exchanged a glance, realizing they had stumbled upon an entirely new concept.
What began as Ray’s idea was gradually refined through their collaboration. With each modification, the design blueprint of the Alchemical Artifact aircraft evolved into something completely different.
At first glance, it no longer resembled an aircraft. Instead, it appeared to be a transformable artifact.
The metal puppet Demon Spirit, Ray, could integrate into the structure to become the core that controlled every part of the artifact. This integration would allow him to operate the entire aircraft seamlessly.
The flame Demon Spirit was designed to serve as the windshield, but it could also expand into a large hot air balloon when needed.
The kite Demon Spirit, on the other hand, became detachable wings that could be activated freely and removed when not in use.
To ensure durability and functionality, they planned to inscribe a layer of ritual array barriers on the main body. These barriers would protect the aircraft from storms and lightning.
This was the general design plan they had envisioned.
The two began to take action, gathering many Demon Spirits in the city to assist them. The new aircraft gradually took shape as the days passed.
By this point, Oran found himself feeling a sense of anticipation. He wondered if Ray’s success could pave the way for others to overcome the Black Storm’s barriers and venture into the outside world.
On this day, Oran walked in carrying a flower pot.
The silver flower cup swayed from side to side as it spoke in a peculiar manner.
“Tower to Heaven!” it said.
“Tower to Heaven!”
“Everyone knows to raise their heads,
to look up and lose themselves among the stars.”
“They all long for wings—
to rise, to ride the wind.”
Its voice rose and fell rhythmically, almost as if it were singing a song.
Ray was busy inscribing ritual arrays on the aircraft’s body. When he saw Oran approach, his attention was immediately drawn to the Cup of Desire that had merged with Oran’s wish.
The flower, with its somewhat eerie appearance, sparked only curiosity and wonder in Ray’s eyes.
After inviting Oran to sit down, Ray could not help but glance at the flower with a head and speak.
“What is this thing?”
Oran said, “I discovered it by chance and crafted it through a special method.”
Ray studied the peculiar flower, then glanced at Oran with curiosity.
“Incredible,” Ray said. “You alchemists can actually create something like this?”
Oran shook his head slightly. “It is not something we created. The Cup of Desire has existed for ages, likely originating in a time long forgotten. I merely uncovered some of its secrets.”
Speaking of this, Oran touched the edge of the flower cup.
“I finally understand why it is called the Cup of Desire.”
This was a flower nurtured by desire and obsession.
Ray looked at Oran curiously. “So, what is your goal with this? What do you want to achieve?”
Oran replied thoughtfully, “I want to use it as the core to create an Alchemy Tower. It would act as the tower’s will, running everything within it.”
Ray tilted his head. “And after that?”
Oran continued, his tone steady, “This Alchemy Tower would be unlike anything before. It could operate entirely on its own, even if its master were to leave it completely.”
“It could repair itself if damaged, create what it needs if something is missing, and protect itself if faced with danger. Most importantly, it would function as a self-sustaining alchemy workshop.”
“It would merge with the Alchemy Tower to become its Tower Spirit. The tower would be its body, its hands, and its feet.”
Oran paused briefly before adding, “On its own, it has only a thread of obsession and desire. But once it becomes part of the Alchemy Tower, it will create miracles. This would be a completely new form of Alchemical Life.”
Ray frowned slightly, considering Oran’s words. “But wouldn’t that mean creating a life that is forever bound to one place, stuck performing a single task?”
“Doesn’t that seem… cruel?”
“Would it really be willing?”
Oran shook his head calmly. “The Tower Spirit would not be a true life form as we understand it. It would not comprehend concepts like cruelty or choice.”
“It would have no sense of willingness or unwillingness. Its entire existence would revolve around a single obsession, a single desire to fulfill its purpose.”
Ray seemed intrigued, though still a bit skeptical. “That’s… fascinating. How did you even come up with something like this? Creating Alchemical Life to do the work instead of relying on people?”
Oran smiled faintly. “This idea is not mine. It is part of the Tower Spirit Mystery, a concept introduced by the founder of the Tower Spirit School. That is the school I come from.”
Finally, Oran explained his reason for bringing the idea to Ray. “I came to you because I believe your Miracle Rituals could help me craft the foundational materials for the Alchemy Tower.”
“Perhaps only your Miracle Technique can make this vision a reality.”
Ray’s gaze fixed on the flower with a head. He readily agreed.
“No problem,” Ray said.
“You help me modify the aircraft, and I’ll help you build the Alchemy Tower.”
The two began working together in cooperation. Ray also wanted to see how the Alchemy Tower was crafted and learn the secrets of alchemists.
Ray gathered a variety of materials, trading characteristic Seal Imprint extraordinary materials with other Demon Spirits in the Abyss Royal City. He exchanged them for wind, fire, and lightning Seal Imprint materials.
Over the past few days, Oran and Ray had worked tirelessly. It was not due to urgency, but because they were both filled with excitement over the creation of this unique flying artifact.
Today, Ray’s aircraft was finally completed. Considering the time it took, the progress was surprisingly quick.
In contrast, Oran’s Alchemy Tower was a much larger and more complex project. It would require significantly more time and effort and was still in the drafting phase.
What ultimately stood before everyone was a large, round egg, an iron structure adorned with intricate patterns.
On the walls of the Abyss Royal City, Ray and Oran carried the new aircraft. The Demon Spirits of the city gathered, examining the latest creation from Oran and Ray.
“This is an aircraft?”
“How is it completely different from before?”
“Isn’t this just an egg?”
Demon Spirits of all sizes circled around it. Some flew in the sky, some swayed unsteadily, and some made thumping sounds when they walked.
Today marked the first flight of Ray’s new aircraft. Ray approached the occasion with the spirit of a romantic adventurer.
He viewed the day of the test flight as the beginning of his journey to face the Black Storm.
An opening could be seen in the Abyss Royal City’s barrier. Ray had specially requested it from Lady Elena, prepared for his departure.
Ray donned a freshly crafted robe, its high-standing collar giving him a sharp and commanding appearance.
Two other Demon Spirits stood behind him, forming a line of three.
They looked ready, like a team prepared for battle.
One was a flame Demon Spirit with a large glass dome for a head. Inside the dome, flames swirled and shifted like molten red magma.
A graceful kite Demon Spirit floated around Oran. This was the same Demon Spirit who had once asked Ray if he intended to fly toward the sun. Somehow, Ray had managed to convince him to face the Black Storm with him.
After Ray saw that everything was ready, he immediately shouted loudly.
“Number One!”
“Number Two!”
“Number Three!”
“Combine and transform!”
It was an especially striking sight. The transformations that followed left many observers completely astonished.
The puppet Demon Spirit, flame Demon Spirit, and kite Demon Spirit were suddenly engulfed by the expanding metal egg.
Ray’s head emerged from within the metal egg, forming a cockpit with only his head visible.
As the transformation continued, the Alchemical Artifact aircraft began to take shape. Propellers, a nose, and a tail gradually appeared.
The kite Demon Spirit extended its form to become the wings on either side of the metal egg.
The flame Demon Spirit exhaled two bursts of fire, which transformed into the glass canopy above.
Clang, Clang, Clang~
A series of metallic sounds echoed through the air.
The three Demon Spirits merged with the Alchemical Artifact, transforming into a unified form.
Before everyone’s eyes, an unusual Alchemical Aircraft took shape. The three Demon Spirits appeared to have seamlessly fused with the aircraft, becoming one with its structure.
The sight was unlike anything the Demon Spirits had ever witnessed. Cries of astonishment rippled through the crowd.
Yet, Ray’s actions were far from over. Inside the aircraft cabin, the metal puppet head began to rotate, drawing even more attention.
“Number Two, Number Three,” Ray commanded.
“Follow my orders!”
“Take off!”
The aircraft finally took flight. It accelerated from the city wall, descended rapidly, and then leveled out.
The wild wind roared as the propeller at the front spun furiously, driving the aircraft to pick up speed.
After gliding close to the ground for a short distance, it suddenly soared upward into the sky.
Even though this was exactly what Oran had envisioned, he still found himself deeply astonished.
“The Demon Spirit race,” Oran said thoughtfully. “They can really do this?”
“Born without flesh and blood, yet carrying extraordinary power from the very beginning.”
“They seem naturally suited to merge with artifacts, gaining even greater strength and adaptability.”
Even Oran felt that he had witnessed something entirely new in this moment.
He suddenly realized how well the Demon Spirit race and artifacts complemented each other.
They appeared to be natural users of artifacts, capable of harnessing their power and even merging with them.
The Demon Spirits of the Abyss Royal City chased after the aircraft. They followed it all the way to the other side of the city wall, where they watched it vanish into the distance.
“Ray and his friends created something incredible and then combined with it to take flight.”
“It’s fascinating, isn’t it?”
“How do you think they managed to pull that off?”
“When Ray returns, we should ask him about it.”
The Demon Spirits seemed to have discovered another way to bring out their power and characteristics.
Inside the Demon Spirit Pyramid, the God of Demon Spirits, Elena, was also watching Ray at this moment. She watched as Ray piloted his brand new aircraft, leading two companions as they charged into the sky.
That ghostly face actually revealed a trace of comfort.
“Ray,” Elena said softly.
“You are not just chasing the horizon. You are paving the way for the future and the hope of the Demon Spirit race.”
