Chapter 264: A New Structure
Earlier, when Aiden had fought on the battlefield to help quell the chaos with Thera…
He had just sealed a certain lesser god within a Space Lock prison. The god pounded uselessly against the barrier, but unable to break through.
Aiden’s avatars were spread across the battlefield, moving in perfect sync as they overwhelmed Lilith’s faction through sheer numbers.
With the avatars tipping the balance, the gods aligned with Adam quickly gained the upper hand.
Aiden then turned to engage another target when he felt it. That sudden surge of power so immense.
His red eyes widened, and his head snapped upward toward the skies above Eden.
It wasn’t just him. Some of the gods on the battlefield could feel it too.
A major shift had just occurred.
There was another whose power had just scaled to the All-Father’s level. Even Aiden, at that point, didn’t need anyone to tell him what that meant.
He had subtly admitted to himself that the battle happening above was beyond what he could affect even with his current level.
There was a frown on his face as he stared ar Asahel who had just gained the second set of wings. The one whom the energy surge came from.
However his focus was broken, when one voice called out in anger, “Dragon Vessel!”
Aiden’s gaze shifted back down just in time to see two figures flying toward him with divine weapons drawn.
Jorus’s sons.
Both High Gods, stronger than most of the others bearing the same title, moved with the intent to avenge their fallen father.
The battle erupted at once, both sons throwing everything they had at Aiden.
It raged through several fierce exchanges before a loud boom tore across the field, shaking the battlefield beneath them.
Every god stopped mid-motion and turned their heads toward the source of the sound.
Two massive craters had appeared in Eden’s ground far across the battlefield, craters so deep they looked like meteors had struck from above.
Dust and debris rose in towering clouds from both impact sites.
Gaia lay in one crater, groaning in pain, while Umgadi lay in another under the same condition. Both Archon goddesses had been driven into the ground from above with devastating force.
Above them, Lilith and Asahel descended slowly, floating back toward Eden’s main battlefield with an air of absolute authority.
The Holy Grail floated beside Lilith within a reddish orb-like aura that encased it protectively.
She wanted them all to see it clearly, to understand what had just happened.
The battlefield fell silent, and all eyes turned toward her.
Aiden had his foot pressed down on the head of one of Jorus’s sons who lay groaning on the ground beneath him. His other hand gripped the second son tightly by the neck, holding him aloft mid-air as he choked and struggled uselessly against Aiden’s iron grip.
But when Aiden turned his head toward the descended Lilith and saw that floating chalice beside her—
He eyes widened in recognition and alarm and immediately after, he flung the son he held by the neck aside like trash, sending him skidding across the ground.
For the one trapped beneath his foot, Aiden use his Space Authority skill: Switch, exchanging the god with a pebble taken from a certain distance away.
Aiden whispered to himself in disbelief as he stared at that golden cup hovering beside Lilith:
“Isn’t that…?”
And as if Cronyssia had been listening intently to his thoughts all along, her voice echoed directly into his mind:
[The Holy Grail.]
Lilith then spoke out to everyone’s hearing.
“The All-Father has fallen,” she declared. “Adam sleeps… and he will not wake.”
Gasps rippled through the gods. Even those who had sided with Lilith looked shocked, as though they hadn’t truly believed this outcome was possible until this very moment when faced with undeniable proof floating right before their eyes.
Aiden’s gaze remained on the chalice.
“No… no no no,” he whispered under his breath.
This was the item. The very item he had anticipated talking to Adam about.
The key to dealing with his Longinus spear at the very least. The entire reason he had agreed to come to Eden in the first place.
And now it was in her hands.
His fist clenched so tightly that his claws dug into his own palm, drawing blood.
He took a step forward, with his red eyes locked onto Lilith.
But then Cronyssia’s voice echoed again in his mind:
[Stay your hand, Aiden.]
He stopped mid-step, his jaw tightening.
[Lilith is still stronger than you are now,]
[And beside her stands a four-winged angel. Even though he is only half-angel, four-winged angels are exceptionally powerful. You cannot win this fight.]
Aiden held himself in place, every muscle in his body screaming at him to move forward anyway, to fight regardless of the odds.
But he forced himself to stay still.
He clicked his tongue in frustration, and felt so much bitter as he lowered his gaze slightly.
Lilith’s voice rang out across the battlefield once more, drawing every eye back toward her.
“Eden has been ruined enough, the fighting shall cease.”
She paused, letting her words settle in.
“This city will now fall under my control,” Lilith continued. “But fear not, everyone is welcome to stay, even those who fought on Adam’s side.”
Her smile widened slightly as she added:
“I hold no grudges against those who merely followed their father’s will.”
Murmurs rose again through the crowd of gods. Some looked relieved. Others looked uncertain.
At that moment, two figures rose one by one from their respective craters across the battlefield. Gaia and Umgadi pushed themselves upright, with their bodies battered and bruised from being slammed into Eden’s ground with such force.
Both Archon goddesses stared up at Lilith with expressions of pure fury.
Lilith turned sharply toward them then as her smile vanished.
“Except these two,” she said coldly.
The battlefield went silent again.
Lilith floated closer toward where Gaia and Umgadi stood below.
“You were both so devoted to Adam,” Lilith began, “that you did not hesitate to join your powers in binding me, forgetting that you were born from me.”
Both Gaia and Umgadi with deep frowns on their faces said nothing in reply.
Instead, they exchanged a brief glance.
“Let’s go get him,” Gaia said.
Without another word, the two of them shot upward, ascending rapidly into the skies above Eden’s battlefield.
Gaia reached Adam’s slumbering body, still floating motionless in space, and enclosed him within a cocoon of roots and vines.
With that done, they turned and flew off together, disappearing into the distance until they were completely out of sight.
Asahel turned his head slightly toward Lilith and asked quietly:
“Should I go after them?”
Lilith shook her head.
“No,” she said. “Let them go.”
She glanced upward briefly toward where Gaia and Umgadi had vanished before continuing:
“Knowing how devoted they are to Adam, they will do everything in their power to try and wake him. But it won’t work, not without this.”
She gestured casually toward the Holy Grail floating beside her within its protective orb of red energy.
A faint smile returned to her lips as she added:
“And that in itself is punishment enough for them.”
Then she turned back toward the assembled gods scattered across the ruined field and raised her voice once more:
“Anyone else who feels the need to leave may go as well,” Lilith declared. “I will not force anyone to stay against their wishes.”
Uncomfortable reactions rippled through several of the gods present. They glanced at each other nervously, unsure of what decision to make.
Even Thera looked uncertain as she stood among them.
Lilith’s gaze swept over them all for a moment longer, then locked onto Aiden below, who was staring back at her with an annoyed look .
A smile appeared on Lilith’s lips as she floated down casually toward him, descending until she hovered just a few meters away from where he stood.
“I believe you’re the Black Dragon,” Lilith said, tilting her head slightly as though appraising him.
Aiden said nothing in reply, and Lilith’s smile widened further at his silence before she continued:
“Our paths will cross again soon enough,” she said. “But for now… your entrance here has also been revoked.”
She paused deliberately before adding:
“I would implore you to leave Eden.”
Aiden then finally spoke in a straight tone. It wasn’t loud, but just enough for Lilith alone to hear;
“Whatever it is you’re planning with the demons will only end in one outcome,” he said coldly. “And that’s with my fist buried in your faces.”
Lilith raised an eyebrow at that, then looked at him amusingly.
“Is that a threat, Black Dragon?” she asked.
Aiden said nothing more except turn to the side and begin walking away from her.
A blue portal then opened up only a few paces in that direction. He stepped through it without hesitation or looking back once, and then it sealed shut.
No one else on the battlefield really knew what had been said between Aiden and Lilith during that brief exchange, not even Thera could make out their words from where she stood watching them both with a puzzled expression on her face.
After Aiden left, Lilith turned back toward the rest of the assembled gods scattered across Eden’s ruins.
“Now then, let’s get to rebuilding, shall we?”
———
Meanwhile, in Delheim where the three dragons channeled their power to hold the seal on the Demon Realm…
