Chapter 294: Against The Demon King Pt.5: Desperate Attempt

Samael turned his head toward his weapon, still floating beside Orlien. “I’ll be taking that back,” he said.

In an explosion of speed that left a sonic boom in its wake, he flew directly toward it.

But right as he got into closer proximity, multiple black holes materialized around him.

They surrounded him on all sides, blockading his path forward and covering his backside.

This was cast into play by the black dragon Aiden.

Each black hole attempted to pull Samael toward itself, creating a gravitational effect that tugged at him from all angles at once.

Samael stopped mid-flight momentarily, then turned his head slightly, staring at the black holes around him. Despite their individual pulling effects, they had no overwhelming effect on him whatsoever.

Then he simply flew through the path of the black holes in front of him, passing through them as though they were portals before emerging on the other side completely unscathed.

“No,” Aiden muttered, watching as Samael continued his movement without pause.

Orlien, who was now directly before him, released a roar, and the sound wave that followed struck Samael head-on, stopping him momentarily for maybe a second.

The wave was meant to have a devastating effect, designed to deprive the mind of any sanity, mashing together emotions, desires, memories, personality, and every other function the mind controlled into chaos.

It was meant to create madness in its target.

Samael tilted his head slightly to one side, then rolled it to the other as if relieving himself of muscle tension.

Then he continued forward.

He grabbed his spear in a quick blur of motion, pulling it from where it had been suspended beside Orlien and without hesitation, he turned and struck at the mind dragon.

Syqora acted instantly. He manipulated the probability of events, causing Orlien’s position to shift randomly from where she had been.

If the Dragon of Destiny couldn’t change the probability of events surrounding Samael directly, he could still do that for his siblings at least.

Orlien disappeared from Samael’s striking range just as his spear cut through the space where she had been.

The moment Orlien was out of the way, Samael spun in one single fluid motion and hurled the Longinus at Syqora.

The spear moved without the concept of distance, practically mimicking the effects of instant teleportation after being thrown, closing the gap between Samael and Syqora in less than a blink.

But Samael missed. Or at least, Syqora’s personal luck, granted by his authority, saved him from what could have been a fatal blow piercing through his neck.

The sure-hit effect of the weapon was still active, which was why it grazed past his neck instead of missing entirely. The blade carved a deep wound along the side of his throat.

Syqora screamed as blood sprayed outward from the gash.

But right in that moment was when Thyron and Aiden attacked simultaneously.

From Thyron’s mouth, a nuclear blast roar of energy erupted outward in a massive beam, and from Aiden’s mouth came a white light blast, the Oblivion Beam.

Both attacks washed down on Samael in overlapping waves of destruction. The energy engulfed him completely, obscuring him from view as the two beams collided and merged into a single devastating explosion.

But when the light cleared, Samael flew out of it unscathed, and moved directly toward Thyron, who was the closest to him at that point in time compared to Aiden.

Orlien tried to attack his mind again directly, pouring her consciousness into his thoughts and attempting to disrupt them. But even that failed to have any effect on him now.

After several periods where he had adapted to her attacks, he had evolved to a level where they were needless.

Thyron opened her massive jaws and prepared to release another roar.

But Samael raised his hand forward and blocked it.

The energy that poured from Thyron’s mouth struck his palm and dispersed outward harmlessly as he continued closing the distance between himself and the dragon.

He reached her mouth within seconds and delivered a devastating uppercut that connected with her lower jaw.

The impact staggered Thyron backward and her massive form reeled from the blow as she began falling over.

But before she could crash to the ground, Samael grabbed onto her tail with both hands and lifted her massive form into the air. He twirled her around in a full circle, building momentum, before flinging her across the sky.

Thyron’s body crashed into Orlien, who had instinctively moved to cushion her fall with her own body. Both dragons collided with tremendous force, tumbling through the air together.

Everyone else watching looked on helplessly, paralyzed by fear as a single being toyed with dragons as though they were nothing.

Adam muttered under his breath, “Tch.”

He held the Holy Grail tightly in his hands, wishing desperately that it had some sort of charge remaining so that he could make a wish to change the tide of this battle.

Aiden was just about to step in when suddenly Syqora’s voice spoke directly into his mind.

“Open that portal now!”

The Dragon of Destiny roared out and flew toward Samael, with the wound on his neck still healing as blood dripped from it.

“But…” Aiden wanted to argue back, but before he could finish, Syqora’s voice thundered in his mind again.

“OPEN IT!”

Without any further questions, Aiden raised his hand and opened the portal behind Samael. He held it steady, pouring his focus into maintaining the gateway.

Samael turned his head slightly to see the portal that had opened a few meters behind him. But in that briefest moment where his face was turned away, Syqora manipulated probability.

The Dragon of Destiny randomly shifted his position, appearing instantly right in front of Samael. His large forelimb was already gripped tightly onto the fallen angel’s torso as he flew straight toward the large portal.

Syqora was going to take Samael with him into the portal.

He couldn’t use probabilities to shift himself into the portal directly because if he did that, it would only shift him and not Samael, who he held a grip on.

Samael himself was now above what his probability could affect directly.

That was why the only option was to fly in with him this way.

Samael began tearing his way out of Syqora’s grip, clawing at the dragon’s limbs. But Syqora only held tighter as they edged closer to the portal’s threshold.
