Chapter 107: Chapter 107

My head throbbed. It felt like someone had taken a sledgehammer to it.

A small groan left my lips as I turned over in my bed, trying to find a comfortable position that didn’t make my body feel like it was run over with a tractor.

I buried my face into my pillow, inhaling the scent of shaved wood and gas… wait, that wasn’t right.

My eyes flew open and panic set in instantly.

The room I was in was pitch black. There were no windows so I could not make out anything in front of me. The smell of gas was strong, it filled the entire place. I tried to stand and something bit hard into my wrist earning a hiss from me.

Awareness set in slowly as memories began to come back to me: the forest, Henry, the wolf’s bane ropes.

I screamed as loud as my lungs could muster. “Help!”

My throat burned and my chest felt like it was being split open. My mouth was dry and dehydration was quickly setting in but I did not stop yelling. My voice echoed off the walls but still, there was no answer.

“Somebody, help me!” I coughed, trying to keep my voice even. “I’m right—”

“No one can hear you.”

I went still at that familiar cold voice.

The lights came on.

I blinked rapidly, trying to adjust to the onslaught of brightness and found Henry standing by the far corner of what looked to be a… basement?

Long wooden pillars were at different corners of the room and there were empty boxes, gas cylinders and wood shavings on the floor. A staircase sat at the far end of the room and at the end was a large white door.

I sat atop a small mattress with a faded blue blanket thrown over it. Large thick chains held my wrists captive and said chains were linked to the wall behind me. I had very little room for movement. I was also completely clothed which meant someone had seen me naked after I shifted.

“What the fuck is this?” I hissed out at Henry. “Where the fuck am I?”

“You’re home,” he said cryptically, his hands folded in front of him. “You will understand soon enough.”

“I don’t want to understand shit. I want you to let me go right now.”

He frowned. “I am sorry but I cannot do that.”

I ran my fingers through my hair, thick irritation building inside of me. “And why the fuck not?”

“Because he has brain washed you, Nyssa. The girl I knew would have jumped at the opportunity to leave her parent’s killer. I will help you find who you were again. I will remind you of what you ought to be.”

I stared at him dumfounded, my mouth wide open.

It was quite possibly the most absurd thing I had ever heard in my life and the worst part was that he seemed to believe it. He had a small smile on his face and his eyes were soft.

He stepped closer to the bed, enough distance that I wouldn’t be able to reach him because of the chains but close enough that it mattered.

“We are meant to be, Nyssa, and I am sorry I let it go this far. I should never have let you leave and I should have believed you. We are made for each other.”

I scoffed. “You left me, Henry! You chested on me with two women that I know of and you wanted to mate with Alisa.”

“Only because I needed her father’s help. Don’t you get it, Nyssa? You were the only one I ever loved. I had to be with those women because I needed their assistance. They could give me power that you couldn’t. Now, I have the power and we can be together. All you have to do is reject Rowan. It should be easy given what he has done, right?”

I could not speak. My words died in my throat. “You’re fucking insane. Let me go, now. You will return to your life and I will return to mine. We will never speak of this again or see each other.”

He frowned deeply, his lips pressing into a thin line. “I should have known his claws were deep. Don’t worry, you will have enough time to rethink your choices.”

He smoothed his hand down his shirt and headed for the stairs.

“Where the fuck are you going?” I screamed at him, jumping out of the bed.

I only managed to take a few steps before the chains drew me back, burning harshly into my skin. A groan left me as I fell to my knees, wrists burning as if acid was thrown on them.

“The inside of your chains are coated with silver,” Henry explained without turning around. “The more you fight, the more they burn into you. Do not make this more difficult than it has to be.”

“More difficult?” I exclaimed. “You fucking kidnapped me!”

“I took back what is mine!” he screamed, turning to me.

He stormed over to me, eyes flashing with rage and jealousy. I stumbled back, hoping to get as far away from him as possible. I had never seen such a crazed look in his eyes before.

I only managed to get a few steps away before he crouched in front of me, hand wrapped around my chin in a tight and possessive grip.

“You are mine, Nyssa,” he snarled, lips curving into a wicked smirk. “You will remember that soon enough, and once you do, we can return back to the surface… together. I could not leave you there for him to keep poisoning your mind.”

He had lost his marbles, that much was certain.

I had no idea what the fuck happened to him between the last time I saw him and now, but it was clear that he was fucking insane.

“Rowan will come for me,” I managed out. “He will come to you first.”

Henry grinned. “Don’t you worry about a thing, I have taken care of it. It will be a long time before he comes to search in this pack, and even if he does, no one will find you down here. We are safe, and we have all the time in the world.”

He leaned forward and kissed me, his lips cold and slimy against mine. I tried to pull back but his grip on my chin was harsh, keeping me right where he wanted.

Bile crawled up my throat, threatening to spill over when he suddenly pulled back, a smile etched on his face.

“I missed you,” he whispered softly. “I will be back to see you soon, I have work to attend to. In the meantime, try not to overexert yourself.”

He kissed my forehead almost tenderly before walking over to the stairs.

He left the lights on and I couldn’t tell if it was a mistake or he did it on purpose, but I was not about to complain.

He fished out a bunch of keys from his pockets and unlocked the large door. I only managed to see a flash of white light before he slipped inside and shut the door behind him, leaving me alone in the basement.

I looked around at the large room and the small bed that was going to be mine for… I wasn’t sure how long.

I could not feel my wolf, I did not have a single thing on me.

There was only one thing I knew for certain and it was that Henry had lost his damned mine.
