Chapter 240: The Upgraded Main Building!

The outer building alone seemed much more refined. Before the upgrade, it looked like a house made by a relatively skilled carpenter partnered with a decent mason.

He looked up and saw that the corners of the roofs, as well as the corbel (that protrusion that seemed to help support the roof overhang, which was usually ornamental on modern Earth, though he wasn’t sure how it was here), also had a similar pattern.

As for why he knew some architectural terms as someone who didn’t go to elementary school, he had clients discussing the restoration of an old building back then, and he happened to have seen a few details and what they were called.

The door was a double door that could open in either direction. Upon entry, they were greeted by a larger and classier concierge. The front desk was wider now and was also made of marble. The rug in the foyer leading to it also seemed super high-end.

The wall behind the front desk extended to enclose the place to their right, creating a separate space. There were now three rows of shelves there.

He went there, and the system activated, asking whether he wanted to set the items he’d placed there. Once placed, the system would handle it, and the person simply had to place the gold or the core equivalent (which he’d set) on the tray in front of the item as payment.

To the left of the concierge was the lounge area. There were two long sofas and a few smaller ones. The fireplace was still there, but like everything else, the ornamentation and quality were enhanced.

The number of bedrooms on the ground floor was the same. However, it felt like each of the amenities had more space, including the new areas and the new stairs.

This was definitely bigger than it should have been, considering how it expanded on the outside.

This confirmed it. This was definitely larger on the inside! Did the entire inn really use space-folding technology on a whole building? So generous?

They looked in and checked the rooms, which were lovely and cozy.

Adding them up, the number of beds was exactly the number of the staff (per gender) rounded up to the nearest even number (due to bunk beds), and even the size of the rooms was proportional. He wondered if it was on purpose.

For instance, Ranran was the only female, and there was only one bunk bed there, and it was markedly smaller than the boys’ rooms. However, in both cases, they were given enough space, as if a minimum (relatively generous) area per occupant was assigned.

Though the staff room was naturally smaller and less decorated than the guest rooms, they had always felt guilty occupying them. After all, they interacted with the people who were forced to camp! Whenever they were asked where they slept, they couldn’t help but want to hide!

Now it was good; they could finally have a space they could proudly call their own!

Tumble toddled to the nearest bed. “Wow, this is comfy~”

Durgan nodded, sitting on the bed across from him. “Soft… I like this bed.”

Finn watched them claim the beds they wanted. The ones who got the lower bunk were the goblin and Micc, while the others took the upper bunk.

Each bed also had a mini cabinet on their head boards, not including the closet at the side, allowing the staff to have their own storage next to their beds.

“Let’s check the [Staff Training Room],” he said, and they headed to the third door, which could only be accessed through the corridor and past the kitchen and dining zone.

The first to enter was Durgan, who was the first staff member. He was followed by Tumble, who couldn’t enter.

“So what happened?” They were worried, but Durgan’s eyes were sparkling instead.

“It’s a combat room,” he said, smiling. “It’s very good, even for me.”

Their eyebrows rose. Durgan mentioned this because he was a dwarf who supposedly peaked at toughened-level as a race limitation. The fact that he felt he could still grow a lot, thanks to the room, made them hopeful.

They all looked longingly at the door, even Finn. The staff unanimously voted for Finn to go inside next.

Finn smiled and did not reject. He was curious, and at least after he tried, he could let them check it out on their own time.

Without further ado, he opened the door and entered.
