Chapter 481: An Unexpected Visitor

Primrose had been asleep for almost three hours after she fainted. When she slowly woke up, she thought her husband and her father would already be home. But Solene told her that they still hadn’t returned to the manor.

“Your Majesty, are you feeling better now?” Solene asked gently as Marielle helped Primrose sit up on the bed.

Primrose shrugged and smiled a little. “I’m really fine, Lady Solene,” she said. “I only fell asleep because Dr. Celdric’s aromatherapy made me sleepy. I’m not sick or anything.”

Besides, the doctors had already told her that she now had a healing ability. Because of that, she didn’t need to worry too much about feeling tired during her pregnancy anymore.

But then, Primrose suddenly heard Solene’s thoughts, and she finally understood why Solene looked so worried.

Within seconds, Primrose sat up straight on her bed. She looked at Solene in disbelief and said, “Why didn’t you wake me up?!”

Then she pressed her lips together and added, “No, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to yell at you.”

Fortunately, Solene didn’t take her outburst too seriously. She replied calmly, “Because His Majesty told me that we must prioritize your health first and that we are not allowed to disturb you while you are sleeping, Your Majesty.”

Primrose wanted to say something but decided to stay quiet for a moment.

Her heart felt warm because everyone cared so much about her. Still, she couldn’t help thinking that if someone as important as the King of Azmeria came to visit, maybe they should have woken her up.

To be honest, Primrose didn’t really care about the King of Azmeria. Part of her even hoped that Averon would just leave, but she knew it wouldn’t be good if she didn’t meet him at all.

A man like that would probably spread bad rumors, saying that Primrose wasn’t allowed to meet other men because her husband was a control freak.

And honestly, Edmund could see everything she did through her wedding ring. If that bastard tried anything funny, her husband would know right away and burn him alive.

“Alright, help me get dressed,” Primrose said softly. “And please tell the maids to bring some warm tea and snacks to the parlor.”

Solene nodded at once. She turned to the guards near the door and passed on Primrose’s orders. After that, she returned to help Marielle, who was already busy helping Primrose change her clothes.

Since Solene had told Averon that Primrose was sick, she quietly asked Marielle to put a little powder around Primrose’s lips, making her look slightly pale.

It wasn’t too much, just enough to make her seem weak. After all, she didn’t want Averon to know that she could recover so fast, and she also didn’t want him to think that Solene had lied.

“Did His Majesty come here alone?” Primrose asked as soon as she stepped out of her bedroom.

Solene walked beside her and nodded. “Yes, Your Majesty. The King of Azmeria came alone,” she replied. “He didn’t even bring any soldiers or a carriage with him.”

Primrose lifted her head and looked straight into Callen’s eyes. “Do me a favor,” she said quietly. “Send half of the Noctvaris soldiers to guard the area near the parlor. Let the others check every corner of this place. Don’t miss anything. You can also ask the manor guards for help.”

Callen didn’t ask any questions because from her tone alone, he already knew that Primrose felt something was wrong.

“I understand, Your Majesty,” he replied at once, then turned and left to carry out her orders.

Primrose then turned to Solene. Her voice became even softer. “We need to go back to my bedroom,” she said. “I need to get something first.”

Solene nodded and followed her without saying a word.

When Primrose finally entered the parlor, she put on a gentle smile, as if nothing was wrong. “Your Majesty, I’m sorry for making you wait so long,” she said politely.

She told Marielle to wait outside, while Solene followed her inside. As she walked forward, Primrose slowly looked around the room. Her eyes moved from one corner to another, carefully checking every detail; the windows, the curtains, the walls, the doors.

Everything looked normal.

But soon, she realized that the strange thing was right in the middle of the room. More precisely, it was Averon, who was sitting on the couch.

He wasn’t wearing his usual royal clothes. There was no crown, no shining robe, and no symbol of his status. Instead, he wore simple clothes, covered by a thick coat, just like an ordinary traveler.

Something was definitely wrong, because an arrogant man like Averon would never leave the palace dressed like a commoner.

“It’s alright, Your Majesty,” Averon said with a smile as he stood up. “Your knight told me that you’re sick.” He walked a little closer. “Was it because you drank too much at the banquet?” he asked lightly. “I heard you left the palace early.”
