Chapter 100: Is It Time to Power Up?

As Amon stepped inside the grand palace, what came into view was a large hall.

The floor beneath his feet gleamed like polished glass, made of white marble streaked faintly with gold. He could see his reflection on it.

At the center stood a grand staircase, wide and elegant, splitting into two paths as it ascended toward the upper floors.

A thick red carpet flowed over each step, its edges embroidered with golden threads that shimmered faintly with enchantment.

Servants moved quietly along the sides, their footsteps barely audible against the marble floor.

“Wow!” Amon exclaimed in awe. It was as if he was in another world altogether. It’s true that this was another world, but after living here for seventeen years, it had become his own world now.

Selena walked beside him. “Glad you like it. Uncle Bernard, show Amon his room,” she said to the butler, Bernard.

Then she looked at Amon. “I will visit you later, once I get freshened up.”

“Okay, Senior.” Amon nodded and started to follow butler Bernard.

He walked up the staircase and then took the right path.

The corridor was spacious and beautiful. Golden-framed portraits lined the walls, and the scent of polished oak filled the air. The faint sound of their footsteps echoed through the corridor.

Bernard stopped at one particular door. The door was big and carved with a beautiful design.

“Sir Amon, this will be your chamber for today’s stay. We have arranged spare clothes for you to change into something comfortable. If you need something, feel free to tell us,” the old man Bernard said politely.

“Thanks. I’ll be sure to inform you if I need something.” Amon expressed his gratitude to the elderly man for showing him so much respect.

With a final bow, Bernard left.

“Fuu…” Amon slid open the door.

A four-poster bed stood against the wall, its sheets smooth and impossibly soft beneath him.

Taking a look around the room. The intricate carvings on the walls, the velvet drapes, and the ornate furniture, it looked like a noble’s private suite: elegant, expensive, and completely unfamiliar.

He closed the door behind him and observed his room.

“This is amazing!” He ran and jumped on the bed.

“So soft,” he enjoyed the softness of the bed and then got up. He walked toward the balcony.

The evening city beneath looked breathtaking. The city was bustling. The people looked tiny like ants from the palace.

The cold breeze brushed against his face.

He sighed.

’That elder man Bernard told me the Empress is not currently at the palace. She will be coming tomorrow morning,’ Amon thought. Recalling what Bernard said inside the car.

“Good. Not bad at all… let’s get fresh now.”

Amon lay on the bed, now wearing casual clothes provided by them. The mattress was soft and comfortable beneath him, even better than his dormitory room’s bed.

’Now what?’ He lay there, thinking about what’s next.

His senior told him that she would visit him, but she hadn’t come yet. Why should she visit him?

“Senior visiting my room… haha, it sounds so weird. Some might even take it the wrong way,” he chuckled. A princess visiting a boy’s chamber — Amon couldn’t help but think dirty about this.

Just when he was trying to control his aggressive hormones, a knock came on the door.

Amon snapped out of his thoughts.

“It’s me,” a calm yet authoritative voice came from the other side of the door.

’She came!’Amon hurriedly moved from his bed and strode toward the door.

He knew she was here to discuss something or maybe just for a chat.

Still, he felt his heart beating faster.

’Amon, calm down. This is just a normal visit.’ Still, a young woman visiting a young man’s room was no ordinary thing. Amon had never had a girl in his room before.

’Wait! But this is not my actual room though!’ Yeah, he remembered again, he was just a guest.

This chamber and all others in the whole palace belonged to the princess and the Empress.

He took a deep breath, then exhaled calmly.

Amon shook his head and slid open the door for Selena to come in.

Amon smiled and said, “I was waiting for yo—”

But he stopped in the middle. The reason was right in front of him. He stared.

His senior, Princess Selena, was standing there, looking unbelievably gorgeous.

Her long silver hair was loose, flowing down to her waist like a waterfall. Her crimson eyes were like two ruby crystals, shining attractively. Her face was cold, like that of a true queen.

She was wearing a plain white gown. It was simple yet elegant, and it made her beauty increase by a lot.

Her fair skin looked even more delicate and soft in the white fabric.

Amon was seeing her for the first time wearing something like that, and it had stolen his breath. He didn’t know what to do.

Selena raised one white brow.

“What happened? Why are you standing still like a statue?” she asked calmly, though there was a hint of curiosity in her tone.

Amon blinked a few times.

“Uhm,” now he was truly flustered. There was a small… very small blush on his cheeks.

’Damn! Stop looking like an idiot, Amon!’

“Sorry, Senior. It’s just… you were looking too beautiful. I mean, I’ve never seen you wearing something so elegant before,” Amon said, rubbing his neck with an awkward but honest smile.

Of course, Selena was a little taken aback. It’s not that she had never received compliments before from him, but wasn’t this guy becoming a little better at praising? She thought. Why was this guy acting so innocent now?

She shook her head. Her cherry lips curved into a small smile.

“Thanks for the compliment. I’m happy that you like my appearance,” her tone was a little mischievous at the end.

“Hehe,” Amon just chuckled at her response.

He stepped aside.

“Please come in, Your Highness,” Amon said respectfully, trying to act like a perfect servant.

With an amused face, Selena strode inside, her high heels clicking against the marble floor.

She walked straight toward the bed and sat on it comfortably.

“I expect the room was to your liking?” she asked Amon.

“Yes, it’s the most beautiful room I’ve ever stayed in.” Amon closed the door and walked toward her, sitting beside her on the bed though keeping a proper distance.

“Well, I’ll get to business.” Her tone became more serious.

Amon also remained quiet, waiting for her to continue.

“You remember what I said before, right? That I’ll give you something that will make you stronger.” Just as she said that,

Amon’s expression turned excited.

’Yes! Yes! The reason I came here for!’

Selena chuckled lightly, sensing his excitement.

She opened her palm as a crystal tube appeared on it.

It was small, covered with a lid of the same crystal.

Inside it was a golden-colored shining liquid.

“This is a potion to increase one’s mana and remove impurities from their body. It’s perfect for Awakened people who have a very small mana pool. Just like you.” She handed the potion to Amon and started to study his reaction.

Amon held the potion with trembling hands. He gulped down his saliva. It was audible.

“This—this is what I want! …But isn’t it a rare treasure? Why are you giving this to me?”

“Treasure? Amon, did you forget where you are right now? And who is standing in front of you?” Selena asked. There was clear pride in her voice.

“It’s just one of the treasures from our vault. This kind of thing isn’t that important for the Imperial Family’s vault. So take it and use it.”

Hearing her, Amon’s respect for his senior increased by a lot. A thought came into his small brain.

’Should I just become her loyal follower? Or her attendant?’ Amon was already starting to decide his future.

“Thanks, Senior. I will never forget your kindness.” Amon couldn’t help but thank her again.

“You don’t have to, Amon. Think of it as a reward for defeating an evil worshipper. Actually, you deserve more,” she said softly.

“Yes, I understand, Senior.” Amon clenched the potion in his hand.

“Now, I will go. You can drink it now if you want. Actually, you should,” Selena stood up and walked toward the door.

“By the way… do it in the bathroom.” And thus, she left the chamber.

Amon remained alone.

“That… sounds weird.” Amon already had an idea why she told him to go to the bathroom to use it.

’Is it similar to those novels… where black tar-like substances come out of their bodies and skin?’

“Let’s do it.” He started to take off his clothes.

After undressing, wearing only his boxers. He went to the bathroom.
