“It wasn’t.” Her gaze shifted briefly toward the river, her expression calm and distant. “At first, I couldn’t even keep a spear stable. It would collapse after a few seconds.”

Amon blinked, clearly surprised. “You?”

She met his eyes without hesitation, her face composed. “Yes.”

There was no embarrassment in her voice. Only simple fact.

She exhaled softly, her gaze lowering slightly as if recalling the memory. “I practiced every day. Even when my head felt like it would split.” She glanced back at him, her eyes steady. “It becomes easier once your control improves. Your mind adapts.”

Amon lowered his gaze to his hands again, his expression thoughtful.

His breathing had finally steadied.

She immediately looked away, her jaw tightening. “Again? I wasn’t.” She gritted her teeth.

He raised his hands in mock surrender, smiling teasingly. “Yeah, yeah! Of course not,” Amon said with a smile.

Silence settled between them once more.

Then he stepped a little closer, close enough that she could feel the faint warmth radiating from his exhausted body.

“I’ll get there,” he said quietly. “With your help I can reach it. Also we can compare whose weapon is stronger once I learn it.”

Her amethyst eyes flicked back to him.

“…Hmph.” But there was no denial this time. Only the faintest hint of anticipation.

Amon stretched his arms over his head, wincing slightly at the lingering ache.

“Alright. Since you told me to rest… what now?”

Scarlett turned and began walking back toward the riverbank.

“Sit,” she said.

He blinked. “Sit?”

“You’re resting. I’ll stay until your breathing is normal.”

Amon smiled faintly as he followed.

Maybe she wasn’t that much worried. But she hadn’t left.

And somehow that was enough for him. Amon kept smiling as he sat down.

“Hah… how about you sit as well.”

Scarlett narrowed her eyes. But she sat down beside him anyway.

She glanced at the riverside. Both sat silently.

But here Amon kept glancing at her. To annoy her… and also to enjoy her beauty.

His dark eyes traced the generous swell of her chest, the way the damp training tunic clung just enough to hint at the full, soft weight beneath.

The gentle rise and fall with each of her breaths made the fabric stretch taut, outlining perfect, heavy curves of her figure. He could almost feel them already. Warm, yielding flesh spilling slightly over his palms, the silky skin giving way under his palms as he shaped them, kneaded them slow and deliberate. His mind slid lower.

Imagining the faint bounce when she moved, the way they would press against his chest if he pulled her close right now, the heat of her body molding to his as her breath hitched in surprise.

His thoughts were getting dangerous.

Amon tried to make excuses. To think that this was not wrong. Whatever he was thinking was normal. Which was totally wrong!

“Amon… eyes up.” Just then a cold voice took Amon out of his thoughts.

There was a small smile on her sweet face. But those eyes said something else.

“You are asking what you did? When you keep staring at my… ugh!” She faltered, cheeks blooming a furious rose. The word died on her tongue; she couldn’t bring herself to say it aloud. Her arms crossed instinctively beneath her breasts, only making them rise higher, making them more prominent. She hissed. “You shameless—”

She couldn’t say where he was looking. Her cheeks blushed in humiliation. She wanted to beat this man. But again this was not the first time.

“You are misunderstanding something. I was just thinking about something very deeply.”

Scarlett’s eyes narrowed to slits.

He didn’t back down. Instead he let his gaze soften, let a slow, crooked smile spread across his face. He was sorry because it made her angry.

“I was thinking… about how beautiful you are,” he continued, quieter now, almost reverent. “Not just the obvious parts. But the way you never flinch, never look away even when you’re embarrassed. The way your eyes catch fire when you’re mad at me… like right now. Your strength is something else. To be honest, I really admire you. You are just amazing.”

Scarlett’s lips parted. No sound came out. She nearly thought Amon was talking genuinely.

He reached out slowly. Slow enough she could stop him and brushed a damp strand of silver hair behind her ear. His fingertips lingered against the warm shell, gentle.

“I’m not asking for forgiveness,” he said, voice barely above a whisper. “I’m just admitting I’m weak when it comes to you. And I don’t think that’s ever going to change now.”

For a long heartbeat, neither of them moved.

The river kept murmuring beside them. A breeze stirred the leaves overhead.

Then Scarlett exhaled. Sharp, shaky and uncrossed her arms.

“…Idiot,” she muttered, but the word lacked its usual bite.

Her gaze flicked down to his neck. Yeah his neck not lips. Then back up again. And this time, when she didn’t pull away…

Amon’s smile turned softer. Warmer.

He didn’t push.

He just stayed close. He was close enough to feel her heat. He could feel an odd but sweetness from her.

And somehow, that small space between them felt smaller than it ever had before.

’Did I calm her down with my words.’ Amon thought while keeping the same gentle and warm expression.

For some reason when it came to this kind of thing, Amon was really good at acting.

Then Amon backed away and took his hand away from her. His eyes turned and looked at the flowing calm river.
