Chapter 138: Xander
Several flying ships surrounded the over thousand lords, then the doors opened.
And people holding weapons jumped out, either flying or landing on the ground.
“Don’t move, identify yourself!” a loud voice sounded from one of the ships.
Arnold, the warden of the human settlement in that territory, observed all the lords.
They were all humans and it didn’t seem they were disguised, but still all humans can’t be trusted.
What if they are trained by some other race?
But they were all pretty weak, being at the 2nd Origin, no not all, all except one.
Arnold’s gaze was instantly drawn towards the guy with silver blue hair, wearing a black outfit.
But the one to step forward was someone else: “I am Hiroshima, we are the lords who have escaped from the Carceral Citadel!”
“Hiroshima… Carceral Citadel?” for a moment, all of them looked at these lords strangely.
But as the words registered their eyes widened in shock.
Carceral Citadel, a forbidden realm from which no one had ever managed to escape.
All of them looked sceptical, this guy had to be lying, there was no way anyone could get out of there.
Hiroshima noticed their disbelieving gazes and sighed, he would have reacted the same, that hell is just so much more dangerous.
It’s been dozens of years since that place appeared out of nowhere and had trapped thousands of lords.
“I even talked with you, Warden. Remember, Hiroshima?” he asked quickly.
The warden was still reeling from the shock, he was brought back to his senses.
“I do remember that…” he opened the interface and sent a message to Hiroshima.
It instantly popped in front of Hiroshima, who saw it and replied with: It’s me!!
“It really is you, you all really escaped from the Carceral Citadel?” Arnold spoke in utter shock.
At the same time, countless questions popped into his mind but above all else, this was a great thing.
A very big achievement.
“Quick, let’s bring them all back to the settlement first, also we should inform the higher ups.”
All the wardens and rules were maintained by ECO, the Earth Care Organization.
It was the government.
“But about our domains…” Hiroshima spoke, there was no way they could just leave their domains out here in the open.
And moving them through the forest would take too long, since they would have to clear out everything.
“It is fine, we can just teleport all the domains closer to the settlement.” Arnold said as if this was not a big matter.
“Wait, all of them? Teleport!!” Hiroshima and the other lords were very surprised and excited.
Finally, they would have a normal lord life, live in a place where they don’t have to be constantly prepared for death.
“Saaaarrrrrrrr, you have to do justice for me!!” a lord suddenly ran out from the crowd.
Neil glanced at him and sighed, it was the same diamond class domain’s lord, they had taken away his domain core.
So, unless he could obtain someone else’s 1st Order Diamond class domain, his journey as a lord was pretty much over.
“What’s wrong?” Arnold, still feeling excited inside, looked at the man who cried pitifully.
“T- That guy, he stole my domain core!! SOB You have to punish him and give me his domain or arrange-” he was just speaking, finally smug, he glanced at Neil through his tears and flashed a cruel smile.
Arnold just rolled his eyes and interrupted the guy who was still at the 1st Origin.
“So, what of it? Do you think becoming a lord is like playing house? Isn’t that normal to take others’ domain? I am surprised he left you alive, considering you were trapped in that dangerous place, nothing would be against the law.”
Those words were like a hammer hammering a nail into his heart, he was speechless and trembled in fear.
The warden’s gaze full of scorn made him shrink until he felt like a tiny bug.
That’s right, lords attack each other all the time, steal resources and even the domains themselves, what was new about it.
In fact it was shocking that all those lords didn’t take each other’s domain cores, why did none of them try it though?
Now that they were outside and free of Freya’s ability, they could think about it properly.
’Right, I would have become a 3rd Origin lord too if I had taken others’ domain cores, so why didn’t I? haa whatever, I am just happy to be alive…’ Hiroshima thought.
Beside him was Henry, the young lord who was from the same generation as Neil.
He was happy to finally be out but also sad that his girlfriend had already broken up with him.
“Bring more ships, we are bringing them all back to the settlement and prepare to bring their domains as well.” Arnold ignored the complaining guy and ordered before adding: “You can leave that one out though, let him travel alone.”
“Yes sir!” the officer beside him saluted and quickly began to make arrangements.
The guy who complained was forcefully separated from the group and left alone in the forest.
Soon, more ships arrived and all the lords entered them.
An old man with a bald head and a short stature appeared in the sky, he was flying.
Neil was sitting in a seat inside one of the ships, as he observed the scene outside.
Just like the other lords, he too was worried about his domain, especially since everyone was still inside.
The old man scanned all the domains, just leaving one behind and then pointed his palms down.
A vast amount of energy burst out of his body as the space started to twist and warp, and within a minute all of the domains just disappeared.
’Oh, he has space related abilities? That’s powerful…’ Vritra thought, and only calmed down when he received a report from Nemo.
“Master, the domains have been teleported right outside the human settlement.” She spoke.
’Hoo that’s good…’
“Also, your teacher wanted to meet you right now, but because of the situation I told her you can’t meet her.” Nemo said.
’Alright, it’s fine.’ Neil nodded, he too wanted to meet her quickly and see her real face.
See the lips he kissed, and find out who exactly was his teacher.
He knew that they would all be busy for a while settling into the new region.
They would all also be interrogated about various things, especially Neil and Hiroshima, since they had played the biggest roles.
And it was inevitable but soon everyone would know that Neil Yates was still alive.
He was mainly worried about the hidden enemies, and wondered if he should really shift in with his teacher.
She certainly could find a way to bring him and his domain away, right?
He had tasted her blood before and felt that there was a high chance she was not human.
So he wondered if her race was friendly or an enemy to the humans.
In Settlement 67, which was situated right near the border of human territory and beside Settlement 69, where Arnold was the warden.
A man lay on the bed in complete darkness, he was holding a photo in his hand while crying silently.
“Arlo, my little son, SOB why… why did you leave me so early?” he sobbed, hugging his son’s photo.
His poor kid after passing the trial with great difficulty and obtaining a domain, was stuck in that forbidden realm.
He must have been so miserable there, each day filled with fear and nothing to eat.
Poor guy, who knows how he lived there and then he received the news that his son had died.
Xander, the warden of the human settlement number 67, was utterly broken by that piece of news.
No details were clear, but despite being a 4th Origin Diamond class warrior, it was impossible to cope with the pain.
He had stayed locked for weeks, barely doing any of his duties.
Xander had done everything he could for his son Arlo, so he could live comfortably even in the Carceral Citadel.
Only exchanging food and resources with his son should have given him a high position and security among the human lords.
But now he was just gone…
Just as he was crying, a message flashed in front of him.
It was actually a message from his son’s AI.
It was an emergency message that Arlo must have left before his death, and the AI put it on auto send.
Which meant it would be delivered to Xander as soon as people had exited the Carceral Citadel.
’People actually managed to escape…?!!’ this thought brought even more pain, so there was a chance his son might have escaped?
Did he die for nothing?
Though Xander still didn’t know how his son had died, he wanted to punish all those lords for not protecting Arlo.
But first he quickly opened the message and saw a short clip.
“D- Don’t kill me!! P- Please, my father! He has a high position in the ECO, if you h- harm me COUGH h- he won’t spare you…”
TUK TUK TUK
That was a short clip that Arlo had recorded before his death.
The sound of brutal chopping rang out at the end, and bloodlust consumed Xander’s mind.
He punched the wall beside him, making the whole building shake violently as the wall burst to pieces.
“Those treacherous backstabbing bastards!! AAAAAAAAH My son was murdered by someone, I am going to kill them all!!”
Xander really went mad, his eyes turned bloodshot and he just flew away, breaking through the ceiling.
Whoever had killed his son was going to die the most horrible death possible.
