Chapter 70: Blood Pumping
“Bring it on, rich boy.” The fishman muttered; he was fully confident.
Being at the bronze rank with even a bit of his silver core filled, how difficult could it be to defeat some classless young master?
Neil rolled his eyes, he didn’t mind the comments, but his precious time was wasted.
[The battle begins!]
Just as the message popped, Neil’s figure disappeared and at the same time, his opponent’s body was cut into four pieces.
The battle was already over by the time he became visible again.
Neil himself felt something was different this time, he felt… more excited, his blood pumping at the thought of battle.
But this was not enough, he needed more, a bloody and brutal fight.
His battle hunger had increased.
The audience were all stunned and finally they noticed something.
“He is already at the 2nd Origin?!! Whoa, is he really from the same generation as us?”
“He should still be classless but the other guy was defeated right as the match began, his strength is monstrous.”
“Y- Yeah, the fishman was bronze class, no? How is this possible?”
[You have gained 70 points.]
Again, what followed was a complete one-sided massacre.
It was the same scene as when he was defeating 1st Origin Lords, the other parties stood no chance at all.
One after another, opponents kept appearing, only to be defeated the moment battle started.
The ones who looked down at Neil and said arrogant things had it the worst.
Since these people had no hope of getting recruited, most didn’t bother hiding their identity.
Now they were fighting to make a name for themselves, they had lost the chance to be recruited in the previous years.
And so, after speaking big words and getting defeated instantly turned them into jokes.
People were laughing at them, all over the clash realm and in the global lord chat.
“Why isn’t he taking a break?” the dragon empress frowned, she wanted to have a talk but Neil wasn’t giving them any chances.
Her time on this planet was nearly over and very soon she would have to return, who knows when she could come back again.
And this guy might already be taken by someone else by then.
So she was feeling desperate to have a chat, she barely had any time left.
Cinthia was feeling nearly the same, this guy’s talent was really on another level and she had to get him.
Unaware of even their presence, Neil focused on defeating his opponents.
But the more he fought the higher his urge to fight became, his bloodlust increased along with the disappointment.
These guys were all too weak, he wanted a real battle.
’My phantom nature seems to be changing me from my very core, but as long as I stay myself I won’t oppose these changes.’ He thought.
If only he could complete his phantom form, become a complete phantom, his strength would increase even further.
Then, being at classless he might even fight against gold class in 2nd Origin.
Absentmindedly he killed another opponent, while busy with his own thoughts.
’It was strange from the beginning, there was just 1% chance of success yet I succeeded at the first try and became a phantom, did I already have a connection with a phantom?’ he pondered.
He awakened with two skills and two synergies too, which was so strange itself.
Could his father or mother not be human? Were they a creature of the phantom planet then? A phantom itself?
But why would they try to kill him then?
Neil sighed, there was so much he needed to find out, the more he thought the more frustrated he felt.
He resented his parents too, though he didn’t know what was happening but they never fulfilled their duties.
They were so rich yet he had to live in poverty, to upgrade his battle suit he had to take others’ bracelets in that death zone.
Neil felt his rage increase, for a moment his veins started to bulge and darkness started to cover his eyes.
He controlled the transformation, but not the rage.
Neil shot towards the next opponent, his hand plunging directly into his chest, as he ripped the opponent’s heart.
[You have gained 70 points.]
“He is getting more wild, why does he look so… deadly?” the speaker hugged themselves, feeling a shiver as they felt the suffocating bloodlust.
As opponents kept changing, the bloody feeling kept increasing, even the audience could feel it.
“H- he must have used some shady method, and now its showing s- side effect, I think he is going mad.” Of course there were still haters among the crowd.
Some just couldn’t accept that others could be better than them, or they just hated when others grew.
They would do anything to pull them down.
Neil turned his gaze towards the person who had just commented, with his current senses, he could clearly distinguish all comments even among thousands of audience.
“Eeeek I- It wasn’t me!!” the guy suddenly tried to exit the clash realm, feeling a death glare lock onto him.
He really felt he might die if he didn’t leave.
Neil threw the heart at him, making the guy jump back in fright.
THUD
But the heart was stopped by the invisible barrier present around the battle area.
Neil’s lips moved as he muttered something, many couldn’t hear it but some surely did.
“I.AM.GOING.TO.FIND.YOU!!”
The other guy repeated the words, drenched in cold sweat, he hastily left the place.
The whole arena had turned silent, the fear permeated the space.
Neil then ignored them all and focused on the messages popping before him.
All of them didn’t matter, Aunt May had told him long ago.
“Grow so big that others have to conspire, not try to stop you.”
[Would you like to start the next match?]
“It’s not enough, they are too weak. Send them all at once.” He said, his hands trembling lightly.
He wanted to let loose, feel the exhilaration of a deadly battle.
These lords were at the bronze rank, but they were no match for him and couldn’t give the satisfaction of victory.
[…]
[Okay!]
Neil was surprised like all the others sitting in the audience.
In the next moment, more than fifty lords flashed in the arena, all of them standing opposite Neil.
They too looked around in confusion, until a message popped before their eyes.
[Defeat Dead Man Walking, all participating Lords will receive 70 points!]
Was this even possible? Why hasn’t it ever happened before then?
Or did the world consciousness change the rules just for them?
Several questions popped in everyone’s mind, including Neil’s but they all quickly forgot it all.
They forgot their curiosity, the fear, and all that remained was excitement for the battle that was about to unfold.
’This… This is…’ Neil stared at the more than 50 lords, his eyes widened.
They all were looking back at him with confusion and greed, he was a newbie so all of them felt he could be defeated easily.
“This is fantastic!!” Neil said, his smile crackling to a psychotic degree.
Neil didn’t obscure this wild nature, if it meant strength, he would fan it more.
Everyone waited with baited breath, unblinking and tightly clutching the armrests of their chairs.
“What is going on here? We all get 70 points just by defeating him? That’s it?” they all questioned, but who would refuse the free points?
