Chapter 117: No Chance
Makun stood in the dimly lit forest, surrounded by oak trees, his burning eyes looking at the figure whose neck was being held in his hand.
It seemed he had underestimated practitioners and the strength granted by Ashe and a route core.
Taking these three out had been easy, so easy even he could not believe it, bullets, they could hurt him, however they should first connect for such a result.
Earlier, he had doubted about how he was going to perform against those .50 cals because he remembered the night of his initiation, that night when he had been possessed, Mark Kane had brought a gun with him, and he had difficulty dodging them. If it was not for the entities taking charge of his body, he would have died.
But what he failed to consider was the fact that Mark Kane was a practitioner of the warrior route himself, he was a trained member of the VEB, and his gun was by no means a normal gun, no, it was a gun crafted by a tier 4 builder.
Not only that, Makun had just been an initiate at that time, an initiate who had barely stabilised their route core, and barely knew how mystic fights worked.
Even so, he had won against Mark Kane, although he had been wounded, he had still won.
If a third-grade initiate like Mark, with a weapon built by a tier 4 builder could not take care of Makun when he had just been initiated, what would disconnected people, normal humans do against him when he had already crossed into Tier 2, when he was an apprentice and more than that a berserk warrior, one that fought on instinct.
They had no chance from the beginning.
I really did underestimate all of this. He thought.
He was still new to mysticism and had faced very powerful experts, he had always been on the weaker side, how could he properly scale the strength and the gap between him and normal armed humans.
Now he knew.
This newfound knowledge gave him another vision of the Suppression Bureau, beforehand he had seen them as an entity that only wished to suppress, but if mystics, mostly rogue mystics were not monitored…
He looked around at the corpses.
They would cause a disaster. He concluded.
When looking at those corpses, that of Xavier and that of Gaspar, Makun did not really feel bad.
After killing Zack York, he had decided to not let those feelings affect him, or how he acted, if they stood in his way and if they aimed to kill him, he would snuff them.
He moved his eyes from the corpses to the well-built man named Barry who he held by the neck.
This man was brave, he had fought till the end even knowing he stood no chance, but Makun had decided against killing him. He had disarmed him, crushed his hands and stomped on his feet, leaving the man with no other option than to be held by him, all because he needed information.
He needed to know how many guards were here, not that it mattered, unless they had grenades, or heavy powered explosives. That, he had no idea how a mystic fared against. He also needed knowledge on what was happening here, why were Mr. and Mrs. Jones here at night and did they have something to do with the disappearances, he had to figure out if these were related to his mission.
Only then could he pass this mission successfully.
He had already asked Barry these questions and was waiting for the man to answer, however the man was stubborn, not succumbing under the pain of having his limbs crushed.
Makun’s jaw tightened, he was losing patience, he felt himself teetering on the edge of losing control to his berserk nature, as of now although he could briefly control it, he could not hold it for long.
He might lose himself and go on a rampage.
“Well, You asked for this.” He said as he channelled his Ashe throughout his hand and had it touch Barry’s neck.
He had used it in a similar fashion to what he did against Zack, even though he felt like he could not pour as much as during that time, it felt limited, he had no idea why as of yet but it was enough for Barry.
“AAAAHHHHHH” Barry screamed, his eyes threatening to turn white.
He did not know what was happening, he could not even see the chaotic red Ashe that was being pressed against his neck, no normal human could see it, their mystical third eye, their sight was not opened.
The only thing he felt, was a burning sensation on his neck, which threatened to burn and corrode him, his mouth was being filled with emotions he had never felt before, he wanted to destroy the world, burn humans on stakes, kill innocent civilians.
And under all this chaotic information he was losing control of himself.
“I WILL SPEAK, I WILL SPEAK” he screamed, hoping for the pain to stop.
Zack York had resisted and had cut his arm to escape the flood of this information into him, however he was a third-grade adept warrior who could harden part of his body.
Of course his resistance was off the charts.
But Barry, was just a normal human, how could he resist being burned while fed with emotions no normal human could feel.
He collapsed under pressure and narrated all he knew, and what he did not know.
Makun listened, taking every piece of information about the number of guards present here, the artillery, the families that usually participate in these meetings.
Barry spilled everything, He did not know exactly why they were here, he had no right to go in, but from what he had told Makun could confirm that the disappearances were related to the chalet.
If he wanted to figure out what was happening, he had to step in that chalet, meaning he had to take out every guard.
That was not a problem.
BANG!
Makun punched through Barry, leaving a gaping hole in his stomach, Thud! He then dropped him, and sat nearby to meditate just a tiny bit, get back some of his Ashe before moving out to find out what was happening.
He had to, to perfectly succeed in his first mission.
