Chapter 56: Grade Two Initiate
It hit Makun like a tidal wave.
He thought back to his conversation with Yime. Thought back to the book.
The goal was to reconnect to the Source, understand reality, and only by understanding reality could one advance. Because by understanding reality through a lens, you could then play at that level.
What did they mean by reconnection to the Source? Because the Source was everything, compressed in one single point. So if a mystic did manage to fully reconnect to the Source, then they would know everything there was to know about existence, about how to influence it.
They could do whatever they wanted to reality. They basically became gods.
He linked it to Jorg.
Jorg had influenced reality in a way he could not.
Like he said, he could push his Ashe outward, densify the atoms, make them heavier, influence the air to become thicker.
On the other hand, Makun could influence, if you could call it that, reality at a basic level, a foundational level as a warrior. That was by influencing his own body with Ashe.
He looked down at his hand. When he rushed forward, he had enhanced his body with Ashe, granting it capabilities it did not have before his initiation.
Can I consider that influencing reality? Or is influencing reality only external?
But Makun did understand something. Ashe seemed to be the medium through which the comprehensions you achieved manifested itself. But that raised questions.
How do I begin comprehending reality? And how do I influence it?
Jorg told him what he did, but never mentioned how that was achieved, or what type of comprehensions he got to achieve that level of control.
If you reach a level where you pushed Ashe out of your body, will it act on its own, or did it need you to control it in some way?
He decided to first ask how Jorg influenced his surroundings before asking about the comprehensions.
“You said you pushed Ashe out and made the air thicker,” Makun sat on the floor, making sure not to sit on the blood that he threw up earlier. “How did you do that? Is that something I can achieve?”
“Excellent question,” Jorg said.
He raised his hand in Makun’s direction.
Makun opened his eyes wide. What was this giant going to do now? Wasn’t he already hurt? But before Makun could move, he saw his blood floating.
This was possible? He was dumbfounded.
“Remember what I said. I extended my will into the space around me.” He continued. “At a certain stage, anyone with enough spiritual energy can push Ashe outside their body. That alone does nothing.”
Makun nodded. He had already guessed as much.
“The key is will. I do not just push Ashe into the space. I imprint it with my identity. My intent. My understanding of how gravity works, how weight works, how force distributes through matter.”
He moved his hand in a descending motion.
The blood moved so fast that Makun had difficulties following it. It hit the stone Makun swore nothing could destroy and,
Crack.
Cracked it, spiderwebs slowly forming everywhere.
“When my Ashe touches the atoms around me, it recognizes them. It understands what they are. And because I understand them, I can change them. Slow them. Compress them. Make them obey.”
Makun felt a chill run down his spine.
That was what separated Tier 1 from Tier 2. From Tier 3.
It was not just a matter of power like how they showed it on TV. It was understanding.
Will, yes that is it.
He had willed his Ashe to speed up earlier. How had he achieved that? By visualizing it spinning faster, pulsing quicker, and flooding his body. That only happened because he had read before about how to quicken your heart rate intentionally.
I could achieve that because I knew how to. Comprehension is what gives will authority. Not everyone who wills gravity to obey them could do it.
That means to manipulate reality what I need is Ashe plus Will plus Comprehension.
POP! POP!
As soon as Makun thought of this, his Route Core churned, spinning faster and faster, absorbing particles in the surrounding. He felt the amount of Ashe in his body increase. Not only that, he could feel new information, not much, enter his Route Core then move to his brain.
Understand your body, understand the formula, then look at the lens
, he heard whispers, loud, quiet, crisp, sharp, calm. All of it at once.
His long brown hair swirled as he felt new knowledge settle in his memory as he felt the quantity of Ashe in his body settle.
Jorg looked at Makun, dumbfounded. He finished his initiation this morning, right?
Now he is a second-grade Initiate? That means from just our chat he got the formula?
Smart.
Jorg assessed. To move from one grade to another, you needed minor comprehensions.
And initiation was meant to build a foundation. Everyone had to comprehend the basics to move from Initiate to Apprentice. A warrior had to comprehend his body, a scholar his mind, a healer the human, a ruler his will and his people… That was the basic information that lodged itself in you the moment you completed initiation.
Then to move from grade one Initiate to grade two Initiate, you needed to comprehend the formula to the manipulation of reality. Which was basically spiritual energy (Ashe) + Comprehension + Will. This was a comprehension everyone had to achieve no matter which Route you were walking.
But it was not achieved as easily as Makun made it seem. Even if you had the formula written and placed in front of you, if you did not understand it, if you did not comprehend it, you would not advance.
It was like staring at the solution to a complex calculus problem, every step written out clearly, the answer circled at the bottom. You could copy it line by line, recite it word for word, but if you did not understand why the derivative was taken, why the integral collapsed, why the limit approached zero, you could not solve the next problem.
The formula was meaningless without comprehension.
And to move from grade two to grade three Initiate, for most who had already formed a sub-route, you had to understand what the sub-route expected from you. The type of reality you had to create through that lens. What part of the universe you could understand through that lens.
If you were a graviton Sovereign Warior Like Jorg was, your goal was to comprehend reality through weight and Gravity. Only after comprehending this was your lense could you advance.
Makun Opened his eyes, sharp as if he moved just a tiny bit closer to the truth.
“How does the concept of Lens work?” He asked.
He had no time to waste.
