Chapter 64: Rage And Chaos
Makun was a calm individual.
He was used to analyzing everything logically, in a fashion similar to Jorg. Even under the situations he had lived up to now, he had always made sure to keep his mind calm and sane.
He had sworn a few times, specifically when he awoke from his recurring dream. He had got annoyed a few times too, when the poor luck got too much.
But he had always kept his cool.
Observed if he could find a logical solution to his troubles.
That is how he had cultivated a sharp mind and an analytical brain.
However now, that he did not know if he was going to die or stay alive.
Now that he did not know what would happen once the charm ran out, as said by Zack.
Something he had been bottling up ever since childhood. Something he always made sure to avoid whenever things did not go his way, emerged.
RAGE.
Extreme anger.
Against his family he had no idea of. Against his foster parents. His supposed friends who had all abandoned him. His inability to stop that particular incident from happening. Against all the shitty jobs he went to, every boss he worked under.
Against Mr. Okoye, who did not give him another chance. If he had his apartment, no matter how unlucky he was, the mother and daughter were never going to appear for a walk in his room.
He felt rage against Zuri for chasing him like a dog, not even telling him exactly what she saw.
Rage against the Presence. He could have died. Escaped from this prison peacefully.
But she had decided against that. Pulled him where he did not want to be pulled.
Broke a chain on her own accord and pushed him into the world of mysticism.
A world where, upon entering, he had felt pain during the awakening in the room.
Been looked down on after entering the Night Market. A world where, upon entry, he had his neck grabbed by the same idiot who was here today.
A world where he lost energy every time he wanted to get information.
A world where he lost consciousness more than he could count.
Where he had lost himself to entities he knew nothing about. From how they worked to what they were.
A world where he had killed a dog who had asked for nothing. Scarred a child and her mother when they did nothing wrong.
Where he had been beaten to the point he needed bandages.
How could he not feel rage against that entity for making him experience all of this?
He should have died.
But here he was, all on his own in a dark alley of Naija City, against someone he did nothing to. Someone who had come after him for no particular reason.
Unsure of whether he was going to live or die.
Unsure of if he wanted to die or survive to make them pay.
He did not know anymore.
All he knew is he was tired. Tired of being a puppet. Tired of being dragged where he never asked to be.
He hated this. Hated life. Hated the universe.
And if it kept playing with him, he was going to destroy it, and everyone who was acting against him.
He had decided. He was going to destroy.
Cause chaos.
Snap.
Deep inside him, inside his mind, something snapped.
As if the conclusion he had come to was all but normal for someone like him. As if it had waited for him to reach this conclusion.
CLANG. CLANG.
The chains across his spiritual body trembled, violently, struggling to break under the snap that happened in Makun’s mind.
Some broke, just a tiny bit, before reforming, then breaking.
It felt like a fight was happening. A fight for control. A fight for freedom.
A fight to exist.
Makun had acknowledged his chaotic life. He had acknowledged everything around him was destined to fail, to be torn apart and destroyed.
If he hoped for order in those situations, it was never going to happen. If he hoped for salvation, it was never going to come.
The only way to get out of this was…
CHAOS.
He had decided to combat chaos through chaos.
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
Makun’s Ashe, which had been weak, struggling to flow into the Phase Veil Charm, exploded all of a sudden.
It caused a massive eruption, massive enough to blow past the Phase Veil Charm.
Zack, who had been on Makun waiting for the Phase Veil Charm effect to stop, was blown.
Blown across the street. Blood spilling from his eye socket, his mouth, and now part of his stomach, which had been opened by the heavy explosion.
CRACK.
The explosion had grown so strong it cracked the atmosphere. It went through the Veil and created a connection to the Deep.
A crack the size of a football.
VOOOOO.
Particles, atoms, Ashe flew from the Deep, flowing towards Makun in the form of a tornado.
Every atom was filled with madness, rage, anger, destruction, chaos.
They were attracted. Attracted by Makun’s emotions.
Atoms from the Deep were not normal atoms. They vibrated at a chaotic harmonic. They carried information from the entities that dwelled there. From the violence that soaked every layer. From the entropy that defined the Deep as a realm of dissolution.
They flooded Makun.
Rage-soaked atoms saturated his skin. Madness-encoded particles invaded his lungs. Destruction-laden Ashe seeped into his Route Core.
AHHHHHHH!
Makun screamed.
Not from pain.
From overload.
His Route Core pulsed violently, trying to process the influx. Trying to integrate the chaotic information flooding into him. His comprehension had opened the door. His desperation had called. And the Deep had answered.
The tornado of Ashe swirled around him, lifting his body off the ground. Blood still poured from his mouth, but now it evaporated mid-air, atomized by the sheer density of spiritual energy.
Zack, laying across the street, clutching his torn stomach, stared in horror.
“What… what is that…?”
