Aaric and Luna chose to fight Adalmann and Albert while Daphne and Venti watched and chatted from the sidelines.
“It feels weird watching from the side and not participating myself,” Venti muttered.
“Do you wish to fight?” Daphne asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Hmm? No, this is a fair fight so I don’t mind,” Venti said with a shrug as she looked ahead to observe the fight, missing the smirk on Daphne’s face.
‘This is definitely not a fair fight,’ Daphne thought to herself but did not voice the thought.
Aaric took out his sword and glanced at Albert, who was shaking his head.
“This sword is simple magisteel; it will shatter against the grade of weapon I have. Give me a moment, and I will get a sword of similar grade,” Albert said and turned to leave.
“No, I don’t want you to hold back,” Aaric said to stop him.
Albert scratched his head and opened his mouth to protest, but Aaric just nodded at him confidently, and he just shrugged with a sigh.
On the other side, Luna was facing Adalmann.
Luna had her wand in hand, which she pointed at Adalmann, and raised an eyebrow as she saw a book manifest in front of the skeleton, increasing his aura as Magicules surged in the area.
“What is that?” Luna asked with a tilt of her head, interrupting Adalmann, who was doing dramatic poses he thought would be intimidating.
“This is the Necronomicon, the book of the dead. The ultimate gift given to me by my God. It gives me supreme authority over death,” Adalmann said as he spread his arms and laughed.
Luna smirked, and two wings formed on her back, the color of the night sky with little stars sprinkled around them.
Adalmann spread his arms further, and legions of skeletal undead formed around Luna, who just formed some black fire around her to keep them at bay and kill the ones who came near her.
She then heard Adalmann shout, “Tempest Meteor,” and looked up to see a rain of meteors descending towards her.
The meteors disrupted the magicules around her and seemed to have a regeneration disruption quality.
She snapped her finger and the meteors stopped in the air.
While Aaric’s battle was a pure show of strength and skill. No magic was used as Albert and Aaric clashed swords with each other.
Aaric started with a draw cut as he rushed Albert at full speed, creating a gust of wind behind him.
Albert executed a swift, masterful parry and riposte in the blink of an eye, making Aaric step back hastily.
“I am surprised your sword is still not shattered. The battle aura covering your sword is on a different level… even compared to me,” Albert observed as they stood in a bind, their swords touched and sent out enough energy to disrupt the magicules around them.
Aaric slid his sword down as the bind went on to slash Albert’s wrist, but Albert took a quick step back and kicked Aaric away.
Aaric only took half a step back and responded with a lunge, creating a shockwave around him.
Albert dodged entirely as he sensed the force in the attack and held up his sword with both his hands to block as Aaric changed the direction of his sword to perform a slash.
The sword fight turned into a training session as time went on. Aaric had the advantage in raw strength and speed while Albert had a thousand years of skill.
Aaric adjusted his strength and speed to match Albert, which he noticed and recognized Aaric’s intentions.
Albert did not hold back after that and gave it his all, executing every technique and trick he had learned in the thousand years he had trained with the sword.
He even stopped using his energy to heal his flesh if Aaric managed to cut him and used every bit of his strength to fight with a grin on his face.
He was an undead and did not need the flesh anyways, it was just a waste of magicules and concentration as this point for him if he tried healing the cuts.
Luna was not really having any trouble with Adalmann, as the death aura and vitality draining spells Adalmann used did not affect her even a bit.
She just let Adalmann continue to see the different ways the skeleton used his undead magic.
“I pray to you, my God, Disintegration,” Adalmann shouted, and a radiant beam of white light was launched towards Luna.
Luna raised her wand and bent space around her to redirect the beam towards Adalmann himself, catching the skeleton off guard and leaving him with one less hand.
Luna then smiled. “Let us see if you are better at dealing death than Lord Hades himself,” Luna whispered to herself and raised her hand, clenching it into a fist slowly.
Adalmann felt overwhelmed as his regeneration stopped working, and the death magic he relied on stopped obeying him.
Adalmann’s own magic started leaving him as the Necronomicon shut itself, not allowing Adalmann to use its power.
Aaric saw that and muttered, “That fight is about to end… let’s conclude our battle as well. Thank you for your guidance,” Aaric muttered, getting a nod from Albert.
Steel rang once more as Albert lunged, his blade flashing with a divine light. Aaric sidestepped, letting the strike whistle past, then dropped low, dragging his sword across the ground in a sweeping arc and letting out a magical shockwave, forcing Albert to adjust.
Albert’s blade came down to intercept, but Aaric reversed his grip mid-motion. His sword rose in a clean, rising slash from hip to shoulder; his blade was covered in a silver flame that stopped Albert’s regeneration and disintegrated him in mere moments.
Aaric watched Albert disintegrate and gave a little bow and a thanks before glancing to the other side to see Luna standing beside him with her hands behind her back, Adalmann nowhere to be found.
Aaric smiled and saw the skill scrolls and magic cores disappear with a snap of Daphne’s finger.
Aaric held Luna by the waist and gave her a deep kiss before they moved towards Daphne and Venti.
“Take this; it will help us keep in touch,” Daphne said, giving Venti a nice black and blue jacket before giving her a little hug.
“It was nice to meet you, Venti,” Aaric and Luna shook hands with her as well before the party walked towards the entrance to the next floor.
‘Floor seventy added as a safe zone,’ they saw on their bracelets as they entered the next floor.
“You went through nineteen floors in the night?” Aaric asked Daphne with a raised eyebrow, getting a nod from her.
Aaric then looked at Luna and crouched for her to get on his back, which she did with a giggle and started kissing his neck and cheeks as she clung to him from behind.
“Are you both going to act horny all the time now?” Daphne asked with a pout.
“Yes, you have no idea what I think of all the time now when I see Aaric,” Luna said as she giggled beside Aaric’s neck.
“I think I know what you think about. I miss the innocent girl I found on the train, whom I vowed to protect.” Daphne said with a deadpan expression before ending her words dramatically.
Aaric chuckled and gave her a kiss as well “You won’t have to wait long, Love.” Aaric whispered to her and they moved forward with a blushing Daphne.
