The next day, Zeus woke early to assist with the wyverns’ feeding. He was just exiting the stables, leading his horse, when he paused suddenly and sighed.

“Come out,” he said aloud, his voice exasperated.

There was no response, save for the faint sound of scuffling footsteps attempting to retreat.

“Come out, or… it’s a tickle war,” Zeus threatened in a serious voice.

A moment later, Aegon and Rhaenys shuffled into view, standing in front of him with their heads bowed, shifting their weight from one foot to the other.

Zeus knew exactly why they were there. He stood with his hands on his hips, debating whether to allow it.

“It’s too earl—” Zeus began, ready to deny them, but Rhaenys looked up at that precise instant, her eyes large, shimmering, and pleading.

Zeus paused, placing a hand over his chest as if the look were a physical blow to his heart. He shook his head, clenching his fists to gather his resolve.

“Sor— akh!” He tried to refuse again, but this time Aegon hit him with the exact same expression.

Zeus let out a pained noise, acting as if he had been pierced by an arrow, and stumbled a step back in defeat.

A few moments later, a large man could be seen riding away from Winterfell. His head hung in shame while two children sat in front of him, humming and giggling happily.

When they reached the cave housing the wyverns, Zeus lifted the children into his arms and carried them inside.

Just as he had expected, he saw a large quantity of meat scattered to the side near an altar carved with runes. However, the two wyverns residing in the cave had not touched the food made from magic.

Aegon and Rhaenys scrambled toward their respective wyverns the moment Zeus set them down. The children hugged the beasts’ snouts and climbed onto their backs, jumping around and playing fearlessly.

Meanwhile, Zeus moved toward the pile of raw meat. He raised his hands, which began to glow, casting a warm golden light over the food to purify it.

“It’s ready,” Zeus called out to them.

The children guided their wyverns toward the meat, which now looked far more palatable.

“Ao agāks,” the children commanded in High Valyrian, instructing the beasts to feed.

The wyverns tilted their heads, inspecting the meal, before opening their maws. A stream of white flame tinged with red erupted from their mouths, cooking the meat until it was charred and smoking.

The wyverns began to eat happily, taking the next half hour to finish the massive meal.

Zeus and the children, however, had left before the beasts finished.

“You can ride them after their second meal, which will be in the evening,” Zeus promised the children on their way back.

They reached the castle to find the courtyard bustling as everyone seemed to have woken up.

Realizing it was time for breakfast, Zeus and the children quickly cleaned up before joining the others in the Great Hall. They arrived just as the food was being served and took their seats.

Elia glanced at the children. They were beaming with happiness, but they also smelled distinctly of smoke and ash, giving her a clear idea of where they had been.

She shook her head and looked toward Zeus, who found himself unable to meet her gaze, scratching his neck with a guilty expression.

Elia chuckled lightly and nudged Ra, who had noticed as well and shared her amusement.

They weren’t displeased, it was only natural that two little children would wish to see their wyverns after so recently uniting with them.

“Why do you smell like smoke?” Robb asked Aegon, tugging at his sleeve.

“Because we were near a fire. What else could the reason be?” Aegon answered matter-of-factly, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

“Forgive me, goodsister… I did not have much resolve,” Zeus apologized to Elia after breakfast.

“It is only natural the children wished to see their wyverns,” Elia waved off the apology with a warm smile.

“I must say, however… they both have a trick they use with their eyes. It is like a dagger piercing the heart,” Zeus muttered, glancing at the culprits.

“They mastered that trick long ago. First, they had Ra wrapped around their fingers, and now you as well,” Elia teased. She walked over to Aegon and pinched his cheek affectionately.

“This little devil is a master at it,” she murmured, poking Aegon’s nose.

She then looked to the side to see Ra answering Rhaenys’s questions regarding a spell.

“Their magic has grown stronger…” Ra commented, meeting Elia’s gaze as Rhaenys successfully performed the magic with only a hint of guidance.

Elia nodded, smiling at Ra, before turning her attention back to her son. Her eyes widened slightly as she saw a scaled, wing-like shield protruding directly from Aegon’s arm.
