Arthur Lockwood shot him a glare. “Why do you bring every girl you find here? It’s not like I’m some kind of player.”

“Aren’t I just trying to help you with the mission your mother gave you? You look down on all the heiresses from the major families, so why not pick from a smaller one?” Alexander Grant sprawled his legs out, settling into a comfortable slouch on the sofa, and lit a cigarette.

“She’s not your mother. You’re awfully obedient.”

“She’s always been good to me. Your marriage is my marriage.”

Meanwhile, Jack Warren took Lillian Gordon to get her high-altitude pressure test, but a long line snaked out from the testing room.

This area usually had the fewest people, but for some reason, a whole crowd was lined up today.

“Why so many people?”

The test administrator replied, “A girl who was getting her license just broke our pressure test record. All these people are here to try and challenge it.”

“Cool! Which girl was it?”

“Don’t know. A newcomer.”

Seeing the long line, Lillian Gordon grew annoyed. ’I’m supposed to be getting back to Arthur Lockwood!’ she thought.

So simple, yet so dazzling. He immediately reminded her of the national heartthrob, Darius Lynch. Their looks were on the same level.

After coming out, he held the door open like a true gentleman, apparently waiting for someone.

All the anger in Lillian Gordon’s heart melted away at the sight of that impossibly handsome face. Her heart began to pound wildly.
