Chapter 50: First mission for you.
Before long, the Pillars all stood in a straight line before him, a serious look etched on their faces alongside a hint of discomfort.
Even if they were summoned by Kai, and they were quick to understand that he was their creator, each of them was only meeting for the first time.
And even though they were trying to hide it as best as they could, they were more than willing to fight for Kai’s attention and familiarity.
As such, they were all on their best behavior. An unspoken challenge hanging amongst them.
Meanwhile, on the chair, Kai was deep in thought.
’A Lord Class, huh… People who get these kinds of rare classes are usually versatile when it comes to fighting and strategy. Him being on the Fourth Floor is not bad. It works fairly well for me.’
Kai moved his gaze to the side.
’Unless I am mistaken, the Fifth Floor is basically just a dark, large expanse of nothingness. If he can make it livable or something like that, then he would be worthy of the next title I will grant.’
With that, Kai looked towards his summons.
“Sanovere, I would like to offer you your first task as a Pillar. This, of course, should not interfere with your rule on the Fifth Floor.”
“A task, you say? Oh, I see. My Lord would like to test me to see my capabilities. Truly amazing. Please, do with me as you like.”
’He is smart, to be honest. I shouldn’t write him off that easily.’
The very next moment, Kai reached into a golden portal, where he pulled out a map he had bought from the Dungeon Shop a while back.
Then, he tossed it towards Sanovere, allowing the tall Vampire to catch it effortlessly.
“What is this, my Lord?”
“You hold in your hand the map of this nation. I would like for you to study it well.”
Sanovere’s eyes suddenly widened while staring at the map, followed by a grin that tugged at the side of his cheeks.
“I expected no less from you, my Lord. It shall be done. I will make sure of it.”
’Oh wow, I am actually impressed. If I can get him to study the map and know how the Kingdom operates, it would be easy for me to send him on errands to gather information for me.’
“My Lord, I have one more question if I may,” Sanovere uttered, his head bowed once again.
“Speak.”
“If anyone is to act with insubordination, shall I act on it?”
’Insubordination? I am assuming he is speaking about the people under him?’
“Shouldn’t that be obvious?” Kai finally responded to him.
And upon hearing that, Sanovere smiled. It was an excited, evil smile; there was no denying it.
“You are right, my Lord. That was ignorant of me. Please forget what I said.”
Then he looked up at Kai.
“May I begin preparations immediately? Please do not worry, as I can quickly learn my way around the place in a second flat.”
“Yes, you may.”
“I will be going now.”
With that, Sanovere exited the room, the sound of his shoes hitting the ground echoing with each step he took.
Everyone watched as he moved. Though they didn’t say it out loud, there was an aura of authority around him, far greater than all of them combined.
’Now that he is gone, I have to give the rest something to do as well. I would like to spend the rest of my days around Rambosa City with Carlotta,’ Kai thought to himself.
After a while, an idea finally came forth.
“Lyra, I would like you to look after them until they can fully understand their roles here. Can I trust you with them while I am away?”
Lyra replied almost instantly.
“Yes, my Lord. Of course. But where is it you are going to?”
“Lord Kai is going with me to the city to establish relationships with some merchants. Hehe, I am the accountant or something like that, so I am needed.”
Lyra frowned at Carlotta’s words, wondering why she was the one to answer in the first place.
However, she ignored her, turning her attention back to her Lord.
“My Lord, are you sure it is safe? For all we know, those humans already know what you look like, be it in your monster form or your human disguise.”
“You would be right.”
Kai stood to his feet, reaching his hand into his inventory and pulling out a dark mask.
He placed the mask in front of his face, trying to show them what it would look like if he were to wear it.
“I doubt they would be able to tell the difference regardless.”
Carlotta smiled, mimicking the same confident look Kai had on his face.
“Oh, that is right. Before I leave.”
It seemed like Kai was now focused on Fhera.
The moment she noticed he was looking at her, she immediately hid behind Fanny, as though using the small dragon girl as a shield to hide her embarrassment.
After all, she attacked her Creator seconds after she arrived.
“Do not be scared. I am not angry that you attacked me. However, should it be done again, you will be punished severely.”
“I-it won’t happen again, Boss!” She screamed from behind Fanny.
’Boss? That almost made me laugh out loud.’
Kai then reached his hand once again inside his inventory.
“That said, I do commend your fearless act. It takes a brave one to attack one’s Creator. As such, I will give you this, and a task I wish for you to complete alongside Sanovere.”
In his hand, he held a unique blade. It was curved, capable of being worn as a glove-weapon while also doing the work any short blade would perform.
“This is the Tempest Blade. And it is a Second-Grade Artifact that allows you to grow stronger the more you fight with it. I am giving this to you.”
Immediately, Fhera ran to the front, staring at the weapon with sparkling eyes before taking it from him.
“Wowww, so cool! Thank you for this, Boss!”
In her former life, she used to be the child of a Lion Beastkin. She was tortured by humans and used for experiments because of their unique fighting ability. She died by killing herself and never got the chance to explore the world.
This was the sole reason as to why Kai was ever so lenient with her.
In fact, the shocked look on Carlotta and Lyra’s faces only further proved that. He had not given them any special present to begin with, and yet the newcomer received an artifact.
“Here is your mission.”
Kai’s words snapped them all back to reality.
“The land outside of the Nameless Dungeon is nothing but dry land and cliffs. While there are forests, they only take a small amount of the overall land. Which only further proves that there may also be life outside of here. I want you to go out there and confirm just how many other dungeons are in the vicinity.”
He uttered the command with a straight voice.
’Normally, after a Tutorial Dungeon has been destroyed, other dungeons spawn around the area, be it weak or medium rank. Regardless, it was a way to keep players tied to certain regions. I fear the same might be the case here, or at least I hope.’
