Chapter 68: To spar with a pillar.
{Nameless Dungeon, sixth floor.}
“Bwahahaha!!!” Phera lay on the ground, laughing her ass off while constantly kicking her legs against the floor.
“Oh my goodness, this is killing me! Hahaha! You were waiting for Lord Kai to call on you, and you ended up doing nothing the entire time! Bahahaha!!!”
Azeal stood at the center of the floor, a somewhat detached look on his face as he watched Phera laugh at his predicament.
It was true he had waited there, expecting Lord Kai to call on him when the dungeon bosses tried to disrespect him. Since Lord Kai had named him his right-hand man for that moment, his excitement had been far greater than any of the other pillars.
Or at least, that was what he had expected.
The moment he was right beside Kai, he had blacked out; his nervousness had completely rendered him useless.
He could follow most of what was happening, but his mind was still far away. Azeal figured it was probably the reason why Kai decided to handle the fight by himself afterward.
After laughing until she was content, Phera sat upright on the ground, her legs tucked while swaying back and forth as she held both her ankles.
“Come on, you don’t have to feel bad about it. I am sure Lord Kai didn’t even think too much about it,” she uttered, trying to calm him down.
Since Azeal was still standing, he had to look down at her, a small frown on his face.
“That is easy for you to say. You completed your task and even got praise from the Ruler. You are in no position to advise me.” He walked to the side.
“Now you’re just being salty. I don’t think that made Lord Kai love you any less. I mean, other than the first floor, the sixth floor is the only place that truly looks presentable.”
And she was right.
The sixth floor was incredibly complex, something Azeal had specially designed for players who were strong enough to get past the eighth and seventh floors.
After all, the seventh floor was nothing but a large, empty dry land filled with roaming skeleton monsters.
As for the sixth floor, it felt more like a network of tunnels, each leading to different paths. While one tunnel could lead to a room filled with traps, another could be a place where monsters were constantly spawning.
Where Azeal and Phera were currently staying was the main room of the entire floor.
The design of the cross-shaped ground and the leaves flowing in the spaces at the side in a circle was proof that the floor boss would be there waiting.
Azeal sighed.
“I wonder. Why have you been coming to speak with me the way you do? I am only a level 500. I am sure the other pillars don’t acknowledge me. Yet, you always come to my floor seeking discussion.”
Phera stayed quiet for a moment, then she tilted her head to the side.
“I don’t know. Because I think we should get along? I mean, I wasn’t handed a floor before. But Lord Kai later had to push down Sanovere to the fourth and placed me on the third. I am sure he was worried I felt left out, which was why he did that.”
Azeal turned to look at her, but he didn’t say a word.
“We are all servants of the Ruler, no? Do you think he truly wants us divided?”
“I guess not.”
“Right. So cheer up. If you need anyone to talk to, I can always tell Sanover—”
“Do not bring that man into this. He terrifies me.” Azeal fully faced her. “Can I ask you for a favor?”
“Sure, what is it?”
“I would like to spar with you.”
Phera had a mocking look on her face almost immediately.
“What brought this on? You’re a Higher World Caster class, right? I know that is higher than a Mage and Sorcerer class, but are you sure you want to battle me? I am a Destroyer Elite; that’s basically a different, non-existent class. Are you sure about this?”
“I haven’t had the chance to actually battle, so yes. This might be a good chance to fully understand my powers.”
Phera smiled excitedly. Then she did a flip to the back, balancing on her feet. “Alright then. I’ll bite. Let us duel.”
Azeal leaped back a couple of feet to keep his distance from her. Swaying his hand to the side, a chain of different glowing red symbols appeared all around him, dancing in a circle along with a red glowing book that hovered close to him.
“I am ready.”
Phera grinned, her fists closed while her lioness tail raised up a bit, showing she was ready to attack.
With a single leap, she charged forward, the grin on her face expressive as she tried to reach out and cover Azeal’s face with her palm.
But just when she wanted to grab him, she felt something snatch her by the legs instead.
Long vines had grown from the ground, pulling her back and slamming her down.
Rather than landing body-first, Phera used her claws to slice the vines off, then she blitzed to the side, running up the walls on all fours.
Azeal, of course, didn’t give her room to breathe. He began shooting fast, red energy-like orbs at her, trying to see if he could hit her. While doing that, he finally understood what Phera wanted to do.
However, it was too late.
Leaping from the walls, the first thing Phera did was slam her palms together with enough explosive force to send a shockwave at Azeal.
While he was trying to regain his balance, she clenched her yellow-glowing fists and started punching the air, sending tons of energy-like punches down at Azeal, each one big enough to bring a building to the ground.
’She’s not holding back at all!’
Azeal thought, the red symbols around him spinning faster as he prepared a counter.
