Chapter 56: Meeting the guild leader- [Lord Kai wishes to seat.]
Soon after, Kai and the team made their way into the office of the Merchant Guild Leader.
There were two chairs positioned at the other side of the table. Kai and Leo took one of each, seated right opposite the Master of the Office.
Meanwhile, Carlotta stood right beside Kai, while Sofia was next to Leo.
The said man of the building, the Merchant Guild Leader, was a fat noble called Savor, a man known to be twice as wealthy as any other Guild Leader.
He was large, with long hair falling behind the back of his neck. In summary, one could say he was quite unsightly, with sparkling jewels adorning his fingers and neck.
Once Savor noticed they had taken a seat, he scanned them all one by one.
The first was Kai, who he immediately got suspicious of. The aura around the man was not something he could overlook so easily.
Not to mention, he could not see the stats above his head, which immediately called for concern.
As for the one seated right beside him, he looked more like a regular person, although he too had no stats above his head.
The same applied to the two girls, but none of them made him as uncomfortable as Kai.
“Which of you is Leo?” Savor asked, scanning their faces one by one.
“Yes sir, that would be me,” Leo replied, trying his best to be as composed as he could be.
After all, if the meeting were to fail, he would likely never get the same chance again. Although, that chance was quite slim.
“I see. And who is that?” Savor pointed a chubby finger at Kai. “Why is this brat wearing a mask in my office? I would like to see the face of any commoner seating on my chair.”
“B-brat? C-commoner?!” Carlotta was visibly trembling with rage, her fingers almost digging into her own palms.
“How dare you? Do you have any idea who you—”
“Carlotta!”
Kai immediately called her name with a warning tone, and it worked almost instantly.
Carlotta went quiet, but the scowl on her face did not vanish, and it was most certainly aimed at the man himself.
“Please pardon my ally, she can be rather emotional at times. I am Aron, an adventurer accompanying my friend here on his business deal.”
Savor was still a bit shocked that the woman behind Kai tried to talk back to him, but he quickly swept it to the side with a frown of his own.
“And it would seem you are not an Icon person, unlike these two.”
Kai paused.
As soon as he walked into the room, he saw the Green Icon on top of Savor’s head. However, it held zero significance to him.
“Yes, I am. Will that be a problem?”
“A problem? I think the problem here is the fact that a worthless being such as yourself dares to sit down on my chair.” Savor grew visibly irritated.
Sofia and Leo were calm, as they didn’t want to say or do anything that did not align with what Kai would have wanted.
As for Carlotta—
“You insolent fool! I will end your—”
“Carlotta!” Kai cut her off once more, this time his voice was quite calmer than the first.
Then, he stood up.
“Act like a chair. I would like to sit. Consider this your punishment for speaking without my permission.”
Carlotta looked to the free space, where it was most likely for her to go to her knees.
“Like a chair, my Lord?”
There was silence for a while.
’I got pissed there for a second. I want to end this man so bad, I shouldn’t take it out on her.’
“Perhaps that was too harsh; you don’t have to—”
“Oh no, my Lord! Please, I insist! Sit on me!”
’Wha—’
Kai looked to the side and indeed she had gone on all fours, wiggling her hips with a perverted look on her face far different from the usual anger.
“My back is quite smooth. It will do just fine, my Lord.”
She was practically almost drooling.
Kai could not help but be a tad bit speechless.
“My Lord?” Savor finally spoke, after the confusion of the entire thing finally got to him.
“Ah— It’s just what she calls him! You see, they grew up together, and its kinda like how they relate, you know?” Leo came to their defense in the best way he could handle it.
In order not to waste anymore precious time, Kai lowered himself onto Carlotta’s back. Surprisingly, he was still tall enough to see the face of Savor.
Even more so, not even a second after Kai sat on her, the entire room echoed with a sharp moan, followed by her literally drooling on the carpet.
Kai, embarrassed under his mask, kept his cool, ignoring the looks on everyone’s faces.
“Shall we begin?”
“R-right!”
Leo acted.
He reached into the bag he had hung at the side of his waist and pulled out the Eye for Eye artifact, placing it perfectly on the table.
“This is the product we would like to start selling right away. We don’t yet have a shop for it, but that’s a small issue since we can use all the capital later on to further improve our business.”
Savor took hold of the artifact, reading the description that was written in its info, and immediately, a shocked look appeared on his face.
“No way. Where did you get such a rare Third-Grade Artifact?”
Leo smiled. The reaction of the Guild Master proved the meeting was going well.
“I am afraid we cannot tell you that. A merchant must always be one step ahead.”
“Well said. Any other person would have told me right away.” Savor looked at him with new respect. “It can’t be fake. Never heard of a fake artifact before. That said, I am assuming this is what you all are using here?”
Sofia and Leo nodded their heads in agreement.
“Hmm. Interesting. I can tell you now this will definitely break the market. But with that, problems will arise. Are you willing to bear that risk too?”
“Uhm…” Leo thought of what to say.
“It is no issue. I would be quite saddened if things went ever so smoothly. I assure you it is no problem whatsoever,” Kai chimed in, calm as always.
’I say that but I swear I want nothing of the sort. But I understand what he is trying to say as well. In my former world, anything popular will obviously come with its own share of troubles.’
Savor seemed disgusted that Kai would even respond to him, not to mention he was using a woman as a chair.
And if he wasn’t mistaken, said woman was basically moaning softly in the background.
It felt like a flex of power and authority.
Eventually, Savor looked away.
“If you have made up your mind, then I will oblige. How much do you intend to sell it for, and what is your current stock?”
From then on, Kai allowed Leo to handle all the speaking.
They spoke about prices and even the town where the product would be sold first. The Guild Master agreed to invest in it as well, wanting there to be enough money to pay other smaller merchants to sell it for them across the entire Kingdom later on.
At the end of the day, an agreement was made, and the new Merchant Leo was registered under the Merchant Guild, with the business name: Undead Market Company.
