Chapter 62: Hold the world.
{Nameless Dungeon, Third Floor.}
Sanovere was seated on one of the chairs near the round table, where a huge map lay spread out, his eyes locked on it.
Around him stood three other Undead Vampires, corpses from the dead adventurers he had added to his army.
While Fhera was out there trying to take as many monsters under the rule of Lord Kai, Sanovere was busy with a different thing entirely.
His task revolved around learning the geography of the world and studying where would be the first place to strike if he truly wanted to help his Lord become a powerful tyrant.
Countries to look out for, and even countries that showed the most promise.
These were all the things he had been scouting for.
Thanks to his monsters, he had been able to do just that.
He scattered them across multiple kingdoms, having them gather all the meaningful information for him. And since he could share senses and switch places with them at will, it was more than easy for him to accomplish.
For instance, he learned that the Kingdom of Traona was currently on bad terms with the Nexes Empire, a powerful empire said to have ruled the entire continent for many years.
They were so powerful that no other nation dared to go against them in any way.
Of course, people didn’t like them in the least, but that didn’t disprove the power they held.
Across the land, there was also the Kingdom of Elves, Dmia, and the Land of Dynasty, where many monsters lived.
But that wasn’t the most interesting part of his discovery.
What truly caught his interest was the continent itself.
The Empire, and every other nation he had learned about, were all situated on the Gargila Continent, meant solely for humans, which was why it was called the Land of Humans.
Following that was the Tuain Continent. This continent leaned towards Spirit Races, having established a quite sophisticated lifestyle where they chose not to interact with any other countries.
And for the last one, the Estirs Continent, and probably the most interesting of them all. This continent was adorned by people called Demi-Gods and Gods.
Looking at the sheet, a smile could not help but graze Sanovere’s lips a bit. He liked what he was seeing.
From where he was seated, he had already determined those who would be enemies of the Nameless Dungeon, and those who would not.
“All for naught. Lord Kai shall not be held back by the likes of these people. Not while I am alive and well.”
Sanovere stood up from the chair, folding the map and giving it to one of his Undead Vampires.
Just when he was about to walk away, he suddenly noticed Fhera walking out of the portal leading to his floor.
“Yo Sanovere, how are you doing?” Fhera had the back of her head resting on her hand as she walked.
“Oh, you’ve gotten yourself new servants. But your dungeon still smells like depression and death.”
“I will take that as a compliment.” Sanovere looked towards her position. “What are you here for? Did something go wrong with the task you were given?”
“Come on, have a little faith in me.”
“…”
“Well, I went to all the dungeons in the South and asked them all to fall under Lord Kai. They promised to do so after they see him. As such, I told them in two days’ time they should come to the Nameless Dungeon to see him for themselves.”
Sanovere stared at her with a deadpan look on his face.
“You conversed with those monsters? Such a dull way to handle things. You disappoint me.” He began walking towards the portal.
“Eh? No, I didn’t. I thought I handled this pretty well. No one died.”
“Someone needed to die. That’s the point. But I guess this works as well. I doubt my Lord would be opposed to the idea of sitting and discussing with the other Dungeon Bosses. I am sure there are things he would want to hear from them himself.”
“Heheh! I know right? Praise me now, go on, I am waiting.”
“Lord Kai has arrived in the dungeon. Shall we go greet him?”
Fhera looked at him for a while.
“Using my love for Lord Kai against me… you are such a meanie.”
“I am the Vampire King of Death after all. Let us go.”
…
The door to the Throne Room opened, and in walked Sanovere and Fhera.
As they walked, they could see the remaining Pillars all kneeling on the ground with their heads bowed, but they paid little attention to that.
Instead, their eyes wandered to their Lord, a look of excitement hitting them on the face after being able to see him after so long.
Kai was seated on a massive obsidian throne that seemed to absorb all the light in the room, making his already dark figure appear even more imposing.
His frame was tall and lean, draped in simple but exquisite black robes that flowed down to the floor. A subtle, cold aura emanated from him, the kind that promised absolute power and utter ruthlessness.
He didn’t wear a crown; his authority was inherent. His eyes, the color of molten gold, slowly lifted to acknowledge the two arrivals.
“My Lord,” Sanovere said, dropping to one knee with a reverence that was absolute.
Fhera, however, stumbled slightly, her excitement overcoming her usual nonchalance, before quickly composing herself and bowing low.
“Lord Kai, it is so good to finally see you again!” Fhera exclaimed, her voice barely a whisper in the echoing chamber.
Kai’s voice, when it came, was a low, resonant rumble that seemed to vibrate through the very stone of the dungeon.
“Sanovere. Fhera. You have been diligent.”
He paused, his golden gaze sweeping over the two of them.
“Report on the current state of the dungeon. And your progress, Sanovere.”
