Chapter 552: Fergus

“Hey, Janine, can you pass me that for a second?” I asked, wanting to see the formula that was made for the Psionic bullet. I got no response as Janine was reading it over with fervor. “Janine?” I asked again, tapping her on the shoulder.

“Huh? Oh what? But I was… Ok.” She said dejected, like I took away her new favourite toy. Reading over the instructions I followed them perfectly. The technique to manifest them was similar, but also much different to what I used.

They took a bit longer to make and seemed to have a fixed power much much lower than my charged bullets, but unlike my bullets that once out and created continue to charge up with Psionics in the air, this one stayed neutral. It was a fixed munition. Despite it taking longer, I could see, especially due to the fact that they were made to pair with specially designed weapons, that these were actually ingenious!

“This Teacher is actually a mega brain… I never would have thought to create the bullet in this way.” I then absorbed some of the energy from the round projectile and watched as the bullet, losing its stability, simply fizzled out of existence.

When I turned my attention back to my friends. They had mixed expressions upon their faces. Evanthe was looking at me with awe. She just watched her friend do what took her two weeks of extreme struggle, and a year yet to get better at it, create the bullet as though it was as easy as breathing. Meanwhile Janine had a scowl on her face.

“Apollo that was amazing, I knew you had good Psionic control, but that was something else.” Evanthe said with genuine praise. I smiled as the compliment warmed my chest. Being complimented by my family and lovers always felt good, but a new friend wholeheartedly complimenting me? That struck with critical damage.

“Heh. Thanks Evanthe, but don’t let my ease fool you, I have put years into my training, I’m sure you can or will be able to do so soon.” Evanthe smiled and began to make her own bullet. I watched as her face scrunched slightly with concentration.

It was innocently cute I had to admit. It took her roughly four seconds longer to form her bullet than I did, but it was stable and had the same fixed power. She then looked at her ball and smirked, but then a thought crossed her mind.

“Wait, Apollo, How did you make the thing disappear? I haven’t been shown that?” She asked, curiously. To which I replied. “I used my Psionic sense to feel the energy I left in the ball and pulled it out.”

“Oh.” She stated calmly. “I don’t think I can do that.” She wasn’t saddened by this, she could tell Apollo was a genius and in all honesty, she was just happy she could do what she could do. She would still be in a wheelchair withering away at home otherwise.

“Thats ok, but honestly, you don’t really need Psionic vision to do what I just did, you are basically doing what you were doing in the instructions, but in reverse, uncreating the ball. Here let me show you…”

I then went on explaining what I meant by this for the next few minutes while Evanthe nodded along, listening intently.

Evanthe was listening intently, but half of the words coming out of Apollo’s mouth were gibberish. But she really liked the way the handsome man was speaking so passionately, she wasn’t going to tell him to stop or interrupt his explanation. She’d sooner die.

Meanwhile Janine had picked up the Bullet instructions and walked to the corner of the room, scared it would be taken again. She still didn’t understand total Psionic control like Apollo, but with this guide and the basics class in three days goes over this as well, apparently.

She hoped with all her heart that she could learn this quickly…

Janine’s tiny Origin thrummed. It was autonomous, incapable of thought, but it had instinct. There had been an energy floating around the Mindspace for some time. It was the same energy that had woken it from its atrophic state. As such it was never registered as a foreign substance and was never purged. Which was a good thing as although the energy was barely powerful, it had one thing within it. Potential.

Janine’s origin thrummed with Janine’s hope and the origin finally took in the energy that had been aimlessly floating. That was all that was capable however. As Potential did not mean results. Hard work did. The potential merely… tipped the scales in Janine’s favour so to speak, the rest was on her and her determination.

Janine shuddered as a pleasant sensation shot down her back. She looked around to make sure no one saw her sudden pleasured expression and got back to reading, too engrossed to wonder why she just felt that way.

“And then when you feel that tug, you want to imagine your mind poking- Oh the teacher is here.” I said, derailing my train of thought. Evanthe looked to the door, expecting the teacher to walk through, but when he didn’t she became confused. “He is?”

“Mhm. He is shouting at someone named Bob and telling him to put his shirt on.” He will be here in a minute.” I then turned to speak to Janine only to realise she was not next to me. Looking around, I spotted her in the corner of the room and being too lazy to walk over to her, I extended a Telepathic tendril her way and penetrated her Mindspace.

’Janine, come here, the teacher is coming.’ I stated, before hearing her true thoughts unintentionally. ’No! It’s my paper! Fuck off-oh You are over there. Wait what! Apollo, get out of my head I’m coming now!’ She said frantically, putting her defences up as strong as she could make them, forcing a backlash upon me.

I was fortunately not using my power to a dangerous degree, but I immediately got a headache at the sudden cut off and began massaging my temples.

Janine realised what she had just done in a frantic attempt at preventing Apollo from peering into her deeper thoughts and ran over with a worried expression on her face.

“Apollo, are you ok? I didn’t mean it.” She spoke in a hushed whisper, drawing confusion from Evanthe, who was clearly missing some context. However before she could ask, the door to the club building swung open and a group of young men were being pushed through.

“Come on, come on. Enough lollygagging, I have shit to teach and new recruits to inspire. And you, fresh meat, If I see that shirt off again or you anywhere near my gun oil, I am sticking one of my rifle barrels up your arse, am I clear?”

“Yes sir.” the absolute unit of a man named Bob said, his shirt one bad pectoral flex away from shooting button projectiles across the room. I wasn’t bothered by his size, but I just spotted a strange phenomenon. ’What is it with all the massive dudes and bald heads? Am I going to go bald when I get bigger?’

When Bob moved from the doorway and into the building, the man who was scolding him was finally revealed. There stood , Apollo had to admit, a very handsome man in his early forties.

He had a well kept grey beard and hair that suited his grizzled appearance. His face was stern and focused, the kind of look you get from staring death in the face one too many times.

His left eye was blue, but his right was a neon green, similar to Evanthe’s. But unlike Evanthe’s, the scar above and below the eye suggested to me the eye was cybernetic in origin. He was clad in a simplistic black Spartari military uniform and had a matching black metal right arm

He entered the building and spoke as he walked. “Alright, everyone shut it and look this way. New term, new enrollment, new people. Lets get the FAQ about me under and out of the way. Names Fergus. Fergus Hathcock. Yes you in the back that just gasped, yeah I am that guy, Shut it and keep your nut in until later.

I am eighty seven years old, used to run a counter spec ops division blah blah, boring. Let it be known. I like guns. Like making them, like firing them. Heck if I liked sex, I would probably fuck them.

My Psionic ability as some might know. I am highly adept with the most basic weapon in most Psionic wielders arsenals. The Psionic bullet. I am so good, I can make dumb dumbs into highly effective killers with personalised ammo just for them.

This club is for said dumb dumbs. My job is to make you less of a dumb dumb and into a highly tuned killing machine. Who you use these skills on after you leave this place is not on my hands, but if you turn these on your fellow Spartari comrades, I will hunt you myself if I find out.

Now. That is enough about me for now.” He said before pointing to a random person in the room. “You. Name, age and why you enrolled in this club. GO.”
