The world spun around me and I suddenly felt a hardness against my back. My arms were held above my head and Valerica was straddling my waist. She looked down at me with a smug smirk and continued.

Valerica stood up and began limbering up, something she rarely needed to do recently thanks to the improved technique. However, for her son… He only got her at her best.

“Now prepare to feel my love for you!” She said before her eyes turned predatory and she pounced towards me.

Orchid was sitting down on a patch of grass, bored out of her individual mind. She was the first one to go during this test and all she did was petrify a living volunteer before sitting back down. That was it.

She wasn’t a powerful Psionic wielder of the hive. Other than telepathy and her eye mutation, that she kept from her last body, Orchid was more a protector role. Built for compact strength in this odd form to keep her mate safe at all times.

A task she was currently not doing as she was stuck here, surrounded by all these Psionically capable prey without being able to do anything about it. Still, she thought about the fact that she could have been left behind again like when Apollo went on his mercenary mission. So she took solace in the fact that she would be able to cuddle with her mate later and toughed out the annoying prey around her.

Moran was staring at his crush. Orchid. He finally knew her name. He wanted to go over and introduce himself finally, but his nerves were great. And for good reason. His friends from the first day had been expelled because of what happened when they went up to her. He didn’t want to get expelled. He held no malice towards Orchid for this of course, he didn’t want them going over and truth be told, he did barely know them. They were just a bunch of guys with similar interests so they got on.

He was starting to build up some nerve. He wasn’t sure if Orchid’s name had some meaning, but right now, she looked like a beautiful flower all alone in a meadow. He wanted to give it care and attention.

’Fuck it!’ He thought as he felt his body become driven by adrenaline and got up from where he was sitting and began walking over to Orchid. His palms were sweating already from the nerves so he quickly wiped them on his pants before arriving next to her.

“Um. Hi. Orchid, right?” He said, nerves getting the better of him to come up with anything smooth. Orchid looked up at being addressed by name before looking away, as it was nobody important.

Moran scratched the back of his head, unsure of what to do, but fumbled forward. “So, um, My name is Moran. I uh- I want to apologise for the other day in the bar.” Orchid turned back again and looked the man in the face. “I have no recollection of you.” She simply said before turning around once more.

Moran wheeled around her body this time, doing his best not to take glances at her body, and faced her. “I was a part of the group that accosted you while eating. But I didn’t try to bother you! They were idiots for that and I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am about the whole thing and wondered if we could start from a place of neutrality?”

’Annoying.’ Orchid couldn’t help but think. She wanted to be left alone in her own thoughts, but she could sense this human wouldn’t leave her alone if she didn’t reply. ” I don’t care. I want to be left alone… Please?” She said, being polite as she could be.

Moran was ecstatic! She had all but said she forgave him for his friend’s idiocy! This was brilliant! He just needed an excuse to stay around now and he had the perfect thing to say. “Are you missing your brother? I have seen you together quite a bit, you are like glue. I’m not surprised if you are a little upset because of that.”

Orchid looked up confusion blanketing her face for a curious moment, before remembering her role. The acts of last night had naturally let it slip from her mind. “Oh, yes. My brother… I wish I was in his group, yes.” Moran nodded his head in understanding, but internally, he was singing sweet victory!

’Yes! They are siblings! Thank you fate!’ Moran had been grasping for that straw since he fell smitten. Hopefully believing that the tall handsome man next to the tall gorgeous woman was related to her. All he had to go on was the hair colour, but now it was confirmed! He could swoop in much easier now. Especially now he knows how important her family is to her…

Moran turned to the person Orchid just addressed, mouth agape and mute with shock. The man looked him up and down before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a card, handing it over to the stupefied Moran.

Orchid nodded once the human courting ritual of exchanging communications was complete. She had done a good deed today without Apollo here to witness it. She would still tell Apollo about it later and receive plenty of rewards for being a good girl, but for now, the thought of rewards was enough to brighten her mood considerably.

The man then turned to her in shock and she sighed. ’of course, It will take time for him to get over Apollo… Orchid should give him a way to cool off his desire slowly.’ She thought before speaking up

“Apollo does like making friends though, regardless of gender, so if you can keep your feelings of desire for Apollo to yourself, he would have no issue being your friend. But just remember, he will never be yours.”
