Chapter 622: Casual Threat Of Regicide…

Opening the door to the hallway, Gabrielle stumbled into my chest, as she must have been leaning against the door. “Are you ok?” I asked as she regained her balance. “Yes, thank you. I’m just glad you caught me.”

I patted her arm gently hearing this and smiled. I then turned back into the room and declared. “Ok, Hailey, see you within the next few days. Have a good night.”

“Likewise, take care Apollo.” She said calmly, prompting Gabrielle to look between the two of them with great suspicion. She watched as Apollo began walking down the hall for a few moments before shutting the door.

“Out with it. What happened?” Gabrielle declared, bull rushing towards Hailey. Hailey was sitting in her chair, her face lacking any and all emotion. “I have no idea what you are talking about?”

“Balderdash! Tell me what Apollo said to you about your attempts to stick your tongue down his throat.” Gabrielle demanded, slamming her hands down on the desk.

Hailey gasped. “Gabrielle! I would never go that far! Apollo simply came to talk about today’s lesson nothing more~ It looks like you were wrong, he is as dense as ever. However, I like him like that. It is very cute.”

As Hailey watched Gabrielle have a mini meltdown, she began to discreetly shuffle her schedule to make room for the best day of her life so far.

After five minutes of keys, hidden compartments and disarming a couple of explosives, she retrieved another key. She then inserted that key into her top draw and unlocked it. Opening the draw, she looked inside and sighed deeply. “Here, we go.”

“HAILEY! My sweet girl! How are you? How is the College? Are you having fun? How was your first day teaching? Did anyone give you trouble? If they do, I will kill them. I can do that, you know? Well, I can’t, but I will do it for you! Just kidding! Maybe… Why won’t you look at me? Have I done something wrong already? I’m sorry darling girl, I will do anything to fix it!”

A loud sigh was heard on the other end before the caller’s rage already broke though the ice façade. “You can start by putting on clothes for fuck sake! And destroy that mirror behind you already!”

After a bout of quick competitive pyjama donning speed run, King Dickon returned to the communicator and looked at the screen in deep anticipation. He feared if he spoke again, his excitement would get the better of him and cut short this wonderful moment!

Elaine was gathering a pillow and a night time aid for her private quarters after the moment was ruined. Hailey calling reminded her of why the woman hates her father so much and she no longer felt comfortable in the room. However, she decided to linger a moment to hear what her step daughter had to say.

Hailey took a deep breath and decided bluntness was the best option. “I have started dating someone.”

The Colour on King Dickon’s face drained and the smile on his face disappeared. “What?”

Queen Elaine also dropped her pillow in shock, not expecting the call to be for this… However, the murderous aura her husband was giving off at this moment was utterly terrifying.

“I have started dating someone. I have seen the man as a marriage candidate for sometime and we are finally-

“Suddenly a voice with a tone that did not fit anyone present suddenly spoke. “-Is it the man you performed that dance with…”

Hailey raised an eyebrow at her usually pathetic birth giver being so… Hostile. “Yes, Archon Apollo Lambdason. The truth is, while our relationship is fresh, I love him and see him as my future partner. Dickon sighed for a multitude of reasons before turning around. He could do with a de-stress session now more than ever, so as he saw his wife holding a pillow and clothed. His eyes went wide.

“What? No. Wait, my honeydew! Where are you going? I just got you back in here after whatever I did to upset you last time. Don’t go. Please?” He said, blocking the path between Elaine and the door.

Elaine frowned. “No, first you stop midway through our reconciliation without hesitation and then you… Got, scary. I didn’t like what I saw when Hailey told you about her new partner. I am going to my quarters, move aside.”

Dickon did just that , but asked his wife as she passed. “You know despite my anger I would never harm anyone close to my daughter? It would break her heart, therefore my own. Even if it is that ugly purple haired scrunt…”

Elaine got to the door and looked back as she thought about what Dickon had just said. If it was a few months ago, she would have agreed with him, but after what she learnt at her birthday party?

“No, Dickon. I don’t. I have a feeling you are capable of something like that and that terrifies me… I will be having breakfast alone with the children tomorrow morning. I give you permission to find another way to sate your urges this evening… Goodnight.”

Dickon looked at the door as it closed behind his wife, his mouth agape in shock. “She… Actually thinks I would?” The verbal blow hit and hit hard. How could she think that?

For whatever reason these past few months, Elaine had been distant, upset at him for something. But she was still polite and cordial. Still acted like a wife in business hours. So he didn’t even begin to think he had lost her trust?

Before his thoughts could get depressing, Dickon walked over to his bedside drawer and reached inside for a special device. One that could help him destress and especially forget the terrible thought he just had.
