Chapter 647: “Apollo Needs Nutrients”

A few hours later, Maximus got a grasp of what I taught him very quickly, all theoretical so far considering the conditions of the room, but he understood everything.

“Thank you Apollo! Now I can give Perpekto the best scratches that he deserves!” He said, prompting me to smile.

“No problem, just try not to do it more than once a day, you are putting your energy into his tiny body after all and I would hate it if such a cute creature goes kaboom.” I replied and Perpekto woke up with a yawn which was quite adorable before walking over to Maximus.

Mamixus then picked up his buddy and proclaimed. “I will try it out now. I will send you back where I picked you up. Putting you elsewhere could have side effects. Also, make sure to clean yourself up, you are still covered in dry blood.”

“Ok Maximus, take care and- Oh…” I suddenly stopped mid conversation as I was back where I was when I was first taken. I immediately took in a deep breath feeling the Psionics in the surrounding. “Oh yeah, that’s the stuff.”

“Apollo? Oh thank goodness, I can feel you again.” I heard from within my Mindspace. “Onyx? Are you ok? You sound worried?” I asked, concerned.

After hearing my voice, Onyx replied a lot calmer. “I was trapped inside your Mindspace, my universe. I lost my connection to you. Where did you go?”

I then briefed her by literally showing my entire experience of the situation through my memories to her and I felt her relax. “So Sol was right? You just went to a place without Psionics? And it didn’t hurt? Interesting. I will go back to silent observation now, my love~”

I smiled at Onyx’s casualness of the situation after finding out I was fine. It was very cute and one of the reasons I loved her so much.

I smiled while ignoring the suggestive mental images that Onyx was now showering our link with and looked around. To no surprise, no one was here. I had been with the headteacher for quite a while after all and I am sure someone came to check on Fergus, I made him cough up blood after all, there was some internal injury for sure.

’I hope he is ok. He put the smackdown on me with that technique. Good fight, I want to do it again sometime.’ Being reminded of the fight and what Maximus said before he banished me from his room. I then looked at my shirt and then my arms. I was caked in dry blood and would look quite a sight walking back to the college grounds.

Knowing Thermokinesis wouldn’t be enough for the job. I temporarily took my pants off and chucked them to the side before engulfing my entire body with a comforting blanket of flame.

I ignored Sol’s influence in the fire that I felt licking me more than it should do and dispersed it after it burned away everything I deemed not of me anymore. Mostly the dried blood and my shirt.

I then hastily put back on my pants and looked around and immediately frowned at what I was seeing. My jacket was still on the ground nearby. ’Nobody thought to pick it up?’ It was basically my second skin, so I felt slightly upset that it was just left here.

Still, it provided the opportunity to head back with something covering my upper body.

As I was walking back home, something dawned on me. ’Shit, I’m hungry.’ I wasn’t surprised. I was in a fight where I had to literally face tank a good number of hits and rapidly heal a concussion afterwards. Just ahead of me I could see the bar I often visit and my mouth began salivating. “Apollo needs nutrients.” I mumbled, revealing my inner Orchid.

Entering the establishment, I noticed it was a bit more busy than usual. It was the evening people were coming for meals at a normal time, it made sense. Not that that deterred me. I was so hungry I could ride a horse. ’Wait, that’s not right?’ I thought to myself before shrugging and walking over to the bar.

I fortunately did not wait long before the bartender came over to me and with a polite jovial smile, asked. “Heya handsome, what can I getcha?”

“One of every meat dish on the menu and a salad. And meh, why not it’s a bar, a pint of the Psionic stuff. I’m feeling it tonight.” I said politely as I began munching on the complimentary nuts.

“Sure thing hun. We are a bit low right now on the Psionic stuff so the price has gone up until the next batch, but other than that, the cost of the food will be about 5 thousand credits.” She said and I was about to reach into my pant pocket to get the cred chip before realising I left it at home.

“Ah, fudge. I forgot my thingy at home. Be right back.” I said and began to stand up before the bartender grabbed my hand to get my attention. “Don’t worry about it, I’ll just put it on a tab, I can see you are hungry. You can just pay the next time you come in.”

“I love you.” I said from the bottom of my heart. “Are you sure?” I questioned. To make sure I wasn’t being punked. The woman then began laughing.

“Aww, aren’t you just adorable for someone so tall? Yes I am sure, besides you are my favourite first year right now. A tab is fine.” She said politely before confirming my order on her data pad. Making it official.

As she began to pour my beverage from the barrel behind the bar, I couldn’t help asking. “I am your favourite first year? How?”

The woman chuckled as she turned around and put the sweet nectar before me. “Are you kidding? You and your little group are always in here giving my chefs a heart attack with your order sizes! Plus you crazy man, chugging all that Psionic beverage last week. My husband took a week’s vacation with the money from that sale. Haha. My favourite by a longshot darlin’.”

Her reasoning caused me to chuckle. “Well, I’m happy you feel that way. You have good chefs and good drinks.” I then raised my glass and attempted to take a single sip, but I ended up downing the whole thing as I felt thirsty. I then looked at the woman’s wide eyes at how effortlessly I just inhaled poison and asked. “Any chance for another?”

The woman then laughed hard before taking my glass from me. “Sure thing handsome.” As she was pouring my second glass she asked. “So what? Is your family loaded? With the way you spend when there is a free canteen, you must have royal money or something. Are you a noble?”

“Yes, kind of. I’m a fallen Archon. I suppose you can say I have an inheritance of sorts that comes with the title.”

The woman then turned to me and placed my drink down in front of me. “A fallen? So your home world is lost?” I nodded my head at her. “I’m so sorry to hear that sweetie. Tell you what. I’m going to add an ice-cream sundae onto your order, free of charge. I know it isn’t much, but what better way to show sympathy than with ice-cream?”

I blinked in surprise and said honestly. “Did I say I loved you? Because I seriously do.” The woman then laughed hard again before swatting me with a bar rag.

“Why don’t you go wait by a table before you get smitten, big flirt. I’ll bring your order over when it’s ready?”

I saw no reason to refute that and walked away after giving the woman a playful wink at being called a flirt, to which she just laughed again before moving onto the next customer. ’Nice woman.’ I couldn’t help thinking as I sat down.

While I waited, I decided to people-watch for a short while. I am usually with company during my outings, so it’s nice to just sit back in silence and watch how people interact. Humans, as flawed as they were, did have some fun quirks. Such as the couple in the corner arguing while holding hands. I found it sweet that they were swearing at each other while doing something intimate.

It only slightly made me miss the fact that the hive was quite submissive to me when it came to arguing about anything. The only one ever to get into a fight with me out of the hive was Onyx, but that didn’t count as she was crazy…

I then smirked as my joke prompted her to begin hurling threats of another wrestling match towards me at the blatant lie I was spouting. Something that would definitely be happening now as the thought excited me.

I then moved onto another couple. Two women that were enjoying their company more than the others, more so enjoying each other’s mouths. Being male I lingered on them for a bit longer than I probably should, but it was such a pleasant view that I couldn’t help myself…

I was, however, brought out of my gawking though when a voice spoke to me.

“Excuse me, may I sit with you?”
