Chapter 124: 01
“Damn!!”
“That’s how you ride it—”
Finn couldn’t even catch Max’s silhouette. He was gone too fast. Linn nodded his head but frowned a little. The way Max handled the bike looked weirdly good, almost impossibly good, not something a normal rider could do.
’Maybe he rode from a young age or something… well, whatever.
The Superleggera shot across the lot and stopped right in front of Finn’s car with a clean stoppie, the rear wheel lifting off the ground as the front brake bit hard into the asphalt. The entire bike balanced forward for a split second, almost vertical.
Max’s hands didn’t shake. His fingers controlled the brake with perfect pressure while his body shifted naturally, keeping the balance steady. From 50 to 0 KPH in under a second, the stop was sharp and exact.
It looked less like braking and more like the bike had obeyed his command. Max waited for Finn to come over. He planned to give Finn his address so he could drop the box off at his apartment while he went to buy a laptop for his classes tomorrow.
“Dude, you are fucking fire, where did you even learn to drive it like that?”
“Been years… so can you take this box here and wait in the outside parking lot? I’ll come back as soon as I can, then we can have pizza maybe?”
Max showed his phone where his apartment’s address was open on the map, then looked at Finn calmly.
“Sure, dude.”
Finn grabbed the phone from his hand, sent the location to himself without even asking, then gave it back. He casually bumped his fist against Max’s chest and jogged toward his car.
Max, seeing Finn’s car leaving the parking lot, smiled faintly, then cracked his wrist and focused. The air became slow. It was like a cheat code for seeing everything in slow motion, but in reality, he was reacting faster, far faster than normal people ever could. His inhuman instincts kicked in, and he pushed the throttle hard.
The bike wanted to jump forward, but once again he leaned forward, this time with his head almost on the gas tank, to cut the airflow more easily and speed up perfectly. His feet also hugged the bike tight, making him one with the bike, both mentally and physically, like the machine was simply an extension of his body.
“Hey, got my licenses.”
Max raised the small zipper bag slightly and showed it to the father and son from a distance, a calm smile on his face. He didn’t step inside again. He simply stood there, signaling them to come out so he could take the bike and head home. Tomorrow was his first class, so he planned to sleep early.
Seeing Max, Finn stood up at once, while Linn gestured for Max to wait a moment and picked up the wired desk telephone, the old-style receiver still connected with a curled cable, and called someone. Finn quickly walked over to him. Max stood quietly beside the small internal road where bikes were usually rolled out from the dealership.
*BOOOM*
A deep roar burst out from inside the dealership’s private garage. The sound echoed through the walls before the bike slowly rolled out. The employee riding it looked tense and slightly sweaty, like he had just wrestled with it. Even at low speed, the engine growled and vibrated, heavy and aggressive. The bike didn’t look easy to handle. Finn, who had wanted to ask Max to ride it first, suddenly got cold feet just from watching it approach.
“Go on, take it for a ride.”
Max lightly patted Finn’s shoulder, a small smile on his face. This new friend of his was a genuine person. He hadn’t even asked about the car keys Max had taken earlier.
’Even I wouldn’t be this generous, even with a system.
Max shook his head quietly. There were people in this world so cruel that children starved on the streets, and then there were people like Finn, simple and kind without asking for anything back.
“This is a gift from me to you.”
Linn walked over with a large black box in his hands and passed it to Max. AGV was written on top. Max looked at the box for a moment, slightly confused.
“Helmet. AGV Pista GP RR. Made in Italy, just like the bike.”
Linn patted Max’s shoulder. He was certain now that Max wasn’t here to take advantage of Finn. He realized he had treated the boy a little too professionally at first. Linn wasn’t usually like that, but years of disappointment had made him cautious.
“Thank you…”
As Max thanked Linn, his head spun slightly. A huge wave of information about driving flooded into his mind. Countless techniques, control methods, and movements rushed in all at once, far beyond normal human limits. To use them properly, you needed extreme reflexes, sharp instincts, and high G-force tolerance.
’Damn… so those stats were for this.
Max cracked his neck gently, easing the sudden pressure. In just a second, the skills had settled into him. From a master-tier driver, he had stepped into God Tier. A clean, solid upgrade.
“Are you sure, Max?”
Finn asked. He sounded nervous and excited at the same time, staring at the Superleggera as it approached slowly.
Seeing him now, Max’s thoughts shifted a little. With the instincts from the God Tier skill, he could tell right away—Finn wasn’t ready to handle this bike. This wasn’t something you casually sat on and rode. But refusing him outright didn’t feel right either.
“Stupid, this is not a bike you can handle.”
Before Max could speak, Linn’s sharp, commanding voice cut in from the side. He was clearly reprimanding Finn for even thinking about it. With a 1000cc engine, this thing wouldn’t just start moving—it would launch if not controlled properly.
“I will just take it till outside, Dad.”
Finn looked at his father, then at Max. He clearly wanted to try it, but there was hesitation in his eyes. He was afraid he might damage the bike.
“Let him drive, Mr. Linn. Don’t worry about it.”
Max spoke calmly with a small smile. His meaning was simple—if anything happened to the bike, it would be on him, not Finn or Linn.
CLACK CLACK CLACK
With its dry clutch rattling loudly at idle, the bike rolled in and came to a gentle halt. The sharp metallic sound echoed through the space as the employee eased it forward. After stopping, he let out a long breath before stepping off, sweat visible on his face. Even moving it slowly had taken effort.
Max set the box down, took out his wallet, and handed the employee a €50 bill.
“Thank you so much, sir.”
“Keep working hard, good sir.”
The employee glanced at Linn first. Linn gave a small nod, allowing it. Only then did he accept the money and thank Max again. Max simply returned a quiet nod.
Finn ran excitedly toward the bike, while Max crouched down and opened the box. Inside, a soft helmet bag came into view, neatly wrapped around the helmet. A few extra parts and accessories were placed beside it, but he ignored them and pulled the bag out. The fabric felt smooth in his hands, clean and firm, clearly premium. He didn’t know the price, but it looked expensive.
Max pulled the helmet out of the bag and slipped his license zipper bag inside it. Matte black with red streaks along the sides, the color matched the bike perfectly. Simple and clean. He wore it and fastened the straps tight, then looked up at Finn.
Finn was trying his best to balance the bike. It was tall and light at the same time, hard to steady if you weren’t used to it. Then, in a careless moment, he twisted the throttle slightly.
BOOOOM
“Whoah…!!”
Even a millimeter of throttle made the engine explode to life. The bike shot forward like a bullet out of a railgun. Finn’s head snapped back as the front lifted. The small front wings bit into the air and forced the nose down, keeping the tire from rising too high. He panicked and slammed the brakes.
SCREEECH…
’Brembo Stylema R front brake.
Max raised an eyebrow at the stopping power. The response was instant and sharp. Finn barely held the bike upright with both feet shaking, stopping just short of the glass wall protecting a €40,000 bike on display.
“Sorry, sorry, Max…”
Finn quickly dropped the side stand and took deep breaths as he apologized. Max just smiled and walked forward, cracking his neck lightly as he sat on the bike. His long feet rested easily on both sides, steady and relaxed.
“It’s cool. Here, take your car keys. Take that box and follow me.”
Max tossed Finn the car keys. He was already prepared to take any loss for him. The boy was genuine. Sometimes, being sincere was enough.
“I’ll engrave your name on a custom paddock stand for you. Pick it up in about a week.”
Linn’s voice came from the side as he smiled at Finn, shaking his head with a helpless grin. This boy really deserved a smack on the ear.
Max seated himself on the red beast and the moment his hands touched the grips, everything felt different. The airflow brushed past him clearly, every small movement around him sharp and distinct. Finn’s steps looked slow, almost delayed. Linn’s voice dragged, like it was playing at half speed.
His body felt light and precise. Every finger, every muscle answered instantly. The throttle, the clutch, the brakes—nothing felt heavy or unfamiliar. It was like the machine was an extension of him. Even the helmet didn’t bother him at all. His vision stayed steady, his breathing calm, his control absolute.
’So this is a proper God Tier skill… on a vehicle, I’m basically a god.
