Chapter 31: Getting Pranked Again.

“Did you buy a new phone?”

Max asked while eating. Machina gently sat across from him. She peeled and diced apples and placed them on Max’s plate. Machina nodded her head and pulled out her brand new iPhone 17 Pro Max. It was navy blue in color.

“Nice choice, but why iPhone? ”

“I like to click pictures. If you order me, I can change it or return it ”

“No need. As long as you’re happy with it. If you’re not, you can ask me for more money to buy newer devices ”

Max smiled. Today Machina behaved very gently, although she always listened to what he said. Machina smiled and nodded her head. She was wearing a T-shirt and pajamas from Max’s wardrobe, which made her look absolutely adorable.

If she held back her mischievous side, she would look stunning.

Max’s eyes stayed on Machina’s face for two seconds. Her every angle was perfect. Then, shaking his head, he finished eating. He was getting late for his orientation.

“Here, take this €500, buy some utensils and don’t overwork yourself. After coming back from the university, we can go for a walk ”

” I have 976€ left from yesterday as well ”

Machina took the five hundred euro bill and tried to give it back, but Max just pushed her hands toward her. His intention was clear. He wanted her to keep it.

“Use that as well. Buy anything you need, some groceries for us. Take care and call me if you need something ”

Max patted her head and went out of the door. The new day felt very nice and warm in his new clothes. With tons of missions from the system, this day couldn’t get any better.

He waited for two minutes, and before long, he saw a pale blue SUV coming out of Jennifer’s building. The car was an Audi. It looked luxurious, and with a supermodel like Jennifer driving it, it looked even more gorgeous.

She stopped beside Max and gestured for him to get in. When he got in, he saw she was wearing a sleeveless plain white dress, and a white apron could be seen in the back seat, which she might wear at the university. The car was warm, so he unbuttoned his jacket.

“I will not be taking your orientation. I got a mail from the university that I will be handling classes. There is a shortage of teachers today for orientation, and final-year students need classes, so the faculty demanded it ”

Jennifer’s soft voice broke the silence as her car moved along Munich’s traffic. Max smiled a little because he was glad she wouldn’t be taking his class. Otherwise, it would become a little awkward.

“You seem to be happy not getting me as your first-day instructor, hmmph. New students always wish I am their first teacher ”

“N… No, it’s not like that. It’s just after last night… ”

Jennifer, seeing Max smile, wanted to get a little angry, but mentioning last night made her face turn red. She didn’t look his way and just focused on driving.

Jennifer pointed at a huge entrance door. It was filled with young people like him, entering and exiting casually. There were a few parents with their children standing by cars parked nearby, and the whole vibe felt far more serious and bigger than his high school.

“I’ll go park in the faculty parking section, and you don’t want to come out from the faculty parking lot on your first day, trust me ”

Jennifer smiled, then unlocked the door for Max. He nodded his head. He understood that being seen with a teacher in public might create bad rumors for both of them. He had also seen an ATM a few minutes ago, so he planned to withdraw some cash and enter alone.

“Thank you for the ride ”

“Don’t worry about it. Call me when you’re finished. We can go back together if our schedules match ”

Jennifer didn’t stay long after saying that. She was getting call after call, so she hurriedly drove into the campus. Max, on the other hand, walked along the road. Everywhere there were students, some relaxed like him, while some were running in a hurry. The atmosphere felt different and good.

Nice, this feels nice. I need to make some friends. With my social skills, I don’t think I can complete the mission of getting ten friends today, but let’s see how many I can get.

With a smile on his face, he was about to enter the ATM booth when someone grabbed his hand from behind. When he turned around, he saw a very pretty but quite short girl holding him. She didn’t look German, not even European. She was Asian.

Max was taken aback. She didn’t speak fluent German, so he thought she was trying to say something else but ended up saying the wrong words. He leaned a little closer to understand what she was trying to say.

” I love you ”

This time she said it clearly. Max realized she was actually quite good at German and had pretended the first time. She was smirking a little, so he also understood that she might be playing a prank on him.

” Well, then I love you too ”

” Damn it, Freshman ”

As soon as he said, ’I love you too,’ she cursed under her breath loudly. Max smiled with satisfaction. Then he saw her friends coming out from a nearby street and smearing her with egg.

She growled at him and walked toward the academy with rage-filled eyes. All of her friends laughed out loud as they watched her go. Max, on the other hand, was dumbfounded. He wanted to make friends but made an enemy instead.

“Man, if you had said anything else, you would have been in her place, keke, quite lucky ”

A boy older than Max came in with a handful of raw egg liquid. He tried to touch Max, but Max dodged the hand easily. Seeing his casual prank fail, the students just left.

Sigh! It never ends. Had to learn the hard way several times.

Max shook his head. He used to get pranked by girls in his school quite a few times every year. He reacted based on that, and it worked out just fine. Entering the ATM booth, he withdrew €2000. He would withdraw more later for home emergency use.

Time to head back into the campus and avoid any pranksters.

Max walked back while keeping his eyes open. There were several people making videos around the area, some food critics, some about cars, and some even about clothes. Max didn’t wish to do such things. Entering the campus, he finally saw how big and massive the university was. The videos he saw online didn’t do it justice at all.

An ancient university indeed.

The lawns were full of students. Most of them were studying while lying on the grass, soaking in the rare sun on this cold day.
